Physics Gurus Come And Help Me Little Sister by Kelly2713(op): 6:31am On Jan 10, 2019
Hi guys, my little sister brought this to me and i decided to bring it here for solution. Thanks as i knw some guys will help
A galvanometer of internal resistance 100 gives a full scale deflection for a current of 10mA. Calculate the values of the resistance necessary to convert the galvanometer to (i) a voltmeter reading up to 5v. (ii) an ameter reading up to 10A

v=IR
also v= I(r+R)
for the voltage, 5v, when the galvanometer deflects 10mA
v=I(r+R)
5=0.01(100+R)
5=1+0.01R
5-1=0.01R
R=4/0.01
R=400ohms.
in)when ammeter reads 10A
v=IR , 100*0.01 = 1v
R=v/I
remember it will deflect 10mA(0.01A)
10Amps- 0.01Amps=9.99Amps
Pd across = 1v
R=1/9.99
R=0.1ohm
