Eziachi:I do not agree with these statements as they are very deceptive to undiscerning onlooker. There were enough southern trolls who willingly joined the northern elites with guns in turning local councils within Nigeria into states as an instrument of siphoning oil money. It is unfortunate you posited that crude oil money does not belong to northern Nigerians or elites. The last time I checked though, the money Nigeria accrued from crude oil, even the last cent, belongs to all Nigerians regardless of ethnicity. In fact, if you check the history of crude oil exploration in Nigeria, the northern region of Nigeria has a bunch to say about it. |
^^ I thought we had Iron hands in Buhari, IBB, Abacha? What?!!! We've had iron hands since 1966, I'm disgusted by Jubril Aminu's comments. Saddened by those of NL's who find some sense in his brain dead idea. Oppression don injure my people sha!
You either are not bright enough to comprehend simple English or have compeletly misinterpreted everything I wrote, to justify your bias - I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you misinterpreted my comments. When I wrote of iron hands, did I mention that they have to come from a millitary regime? The fact that my opinion differs from yours does not make you brainless or brighter than me. I suggest that you learn to accept the fact that there will always be people with different opinions from yours and learn to respectfully differ from them, or learn to agree to disagree, without being disagreeable. I stand by every word I wrote in that post. olodo |

Dede1:Who exactly is the onlooker?I wasn't asking you to agree with me by any means but all I know is that in a every gang group, there is the guys and then the other guys. There are southerners that joined the northern elite in creating meaningless states as means of siphoning money but, how many of them where there when the decisions were actually made? Have you forgotten how Ukiwe left because he wasn't ready to play the boy-boy role to the northern boys of which Aikhomu has not problem filling the gap he left? What you and Jibril Aminu should ask yourselves is this: If Ahmadu Bello was asked that Nigeria should adopt unitary system in 1960 when he was scared of the likes of Zik and Awo dominating the north, will he had signed for an independent structured that way? Isn't the reason they delayed the independent originally scheduled for 1958 because the north wanted a federal structure that will grand them autonomy to do their own thing? Chaotic nature of Nigeria suits the likes of Aminu, just like a pick pocket that doesn't like orderliness. You seriously expect a butcher to support a vegetarian way of life campaign? |

Yes, you said "you people need Iron hands" in my opinion, that suggests you support a strong center ruled by a dictator, benevolent or not, military, monarchy or civilian, It does not matter. I disagreed with that idea by giving a few examples of leaders who ruled us with "iron hands" while achieving zilch and I also stressed that we've had leaders like them since 1966 -I believe that covered more than military rulers- It includes civilians like Shagari and OBJ(strong center leaders) So, I too stand by what I wrote sir and I'll urge you to take your own advice since I fail to see how I disrespected YOU, while on the other hand, your own reply betrayed a poorly veiled condescension [indicated by the words in bold]. We can agree to disagree on that though. |

^^I meant the center was strong ni o! not Shagari himself o! just like we had Y'adua leading a strong center, now GEJ Jubril believes we want a unitary government; "I insist and believe that Nigerians (and mind you not politicians) want a unitary government." I'm Nigerian and I disagree. |

My observation is that our President Goodluck Jonathan agrees with Jubril Aminu and that is why Okah is being prosecuted and Jonathan has not in anyway suggested a decentralization of power. |

^yes! the status quo favors them, they are nothing but oppressors, happy to play absolute lord and masters, unwilling to devolve powers to the states, local councils and the individual. |

Eziachi:There is no doubt that you and I are not the only navigators to this forum. Also, I have never expected you to write in consensus with my views. However, I would like to draw your attention to1967 when the creation of states was jumpstarted in Nigeria. I know you will agree with me northern region of Nigeria was not the only region that sustained such ill-conceived and murderous machination. You wrote; “Have you forgotten how Ukiwe left because he wasn't ready to play the boy-boy role to the northern boys of which Aikhomu has not problem filling the gap he left?” This is very irrelevant to the issue of cradle of states in Nigeria. You wrote; “If Ahmadu Bello was asked that Nigeria should adopt unitary system in 1960 when he was scared of the likes of Zik and Awo dominating the north, will he had signed for an independent structured that way?” You should not pose this question to me. Again the question has the demeanor of a misplaced priority and directed to the wrong person. If I remembered correctly, Nigeria under Gowon abolished regional federalism for unitary statism and only one region out of four stood up against it. I honestly agree with Senator Jubril Aminu when he said that disintegration of Nigeria can not be achieved through peaceful means. All these people shading crocodilian tears about the present state of the cesspit called Nigeria are either delusional or immune to political reality. |

@dede1 look at you, seems you have been living under the rock when the north was declared as the most backward and most poverty stricken region in the country despite the fact that people like this senator were once minister of education yet they can not make a single impact. He is a retarded slowpoke just like you. |

ekubear1:Exactly! Ekiti people themselves agitated for the creation of Ekiti State through a memorandum which they submitted containing the resources present in their domain to sustain and generate revenue from. Did they not know that Ondo had oil while they were agitating to be carved away from Ondo? What if there were no oil in Nigeria or what happens to all this oil-based anti-federalism theories when Nigeria's oil gets exhausted? When oil had not been found and groundnut was generating huge revenues for the North why could Jibril Aminu not advocate for abolition of fiscal federalism? Why then did his brothers in the army kill Ironsi for dismantling true federalism? Anyway it is not Jibril's fault. I blame ironsi and Zik who , through a fraudulent one-Nigeria advocacy, brought this unitary system mess upon us which ended up opening the eyes of Northerners to the hugeness and allure of a centralized purse. Zik and Ironsi were two big fools. |
| Re: Senator Jibril Aminu - True Federation, Federalism, Okah Agenda, It’s Nonsense by Deadlytruth(m): 12:06pm On May 23, 2016 |
Dede1:Destruction of federalism actually started with Aguyi Ironsi who broke down the regions and left only their shadows in existence. He (Ironsi) even went as far as changing Nigeria's official name from "Federal Republic of Nigeria" to just "Republic of Nigeria" meaning that the federating units had ceased to exist. Gowon initially made an attempt to reverse Ironsi's folly with his own decree 56 which returned the adjective "Federal" to Nigeria's official name. His creation of 12 states in itself should not have in any way undermine federalism as the decentralized power should have normally trickled down to as many states as were later created. But it was his quest to weaken Ojukwu that he unofficially reversed himself and began to arrogate more powers to the centre away from the States including those in the Old Eastern Region to weaken Ojukwu. Obasanjo later came and finally buried the federalism. It and was first killed by Ironsi, resurrected by Gowon, killed again by Gowon for fear of Ojukwu, and buried by Obasanjo. However a lion share of the blame goes to Ironsi for being the first to tamper with federalism and therefore emboldening all others after him to further attack it. |
