I applied for a visitor visa for my parents, they got 3 years based on the expiry on their passports, they PROBABLY could have been given more if they had a longer duration on their passports...you can get multiple years with TRV

OmoBendel24:

Congratulations....

Return ticket is almost mandatory for a smooth POE experience on her way into Canada. TRV doesn't permit more than 6 months stay, it's got to be less than. Or is it a SUPERVISA for parents you did for her?
Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by jpepper: 8:17pm On Jan 09, 2019
It depends....

Niceyenuf:
Hi beautiful people,
A little bit of a success story and some questions as well.
I applied for my mum to visit me in Canada on October 12, 2018 (I applied for a 3 month visit). Biometrics done October 24. Original Passport request: December 7. Visa about 5 days after.
I must admit I was initially bothered because she was not asked to do a medical test and thought she would be given less than 6 months but she got almost 2 years (to passport expiry).
Online app:
Documents submitted:
Pension statement
For me was just a letter from my employer showing I was employed and my yearly pay.
Letter of invitation.
Letter of sponsorship
Plus all online documents required.

My questions:
Is it advisable for her to stay more than 6 months? Saw something about not staying more than six months at a time even they give you a number of years.
If she can stay more than 6 months, must she book a return ticket? Will a one way ticket create issues at the point of entry.

Thanks for your help guys. smiley

You cannot attend school on a visitor visa, unless you will be studying for less than 6 months... you need a study permit; to get a study permit you need an admission letter from your high school.. You might want to visit the Canada CIC website, plus google search info. There is a Canada study thread on Nairaland as well but the focus is on post secondary education so not sure it will be helpful, you can try asking your questions there as well.

There are guidelines for sponsoring a relative(note that this is different from just paying your expenses, it is kind of like adoption). Maybe there is a way your relatives can sponsor you to school there without a study permit, I am not sure what the conditions/rules are ? Check details on the CIC website

Fiisayo99:
Good evening house, have been following this thread for some time now, and i can say this platform is the best. Thanks to all the gurus that has made this platform so educative.
My story is quite dicey but i need your help.
I would be applying for a canada visitor's visa by May this year. I plan on getting over there and continue my education from grade 11, so i can get used to their educational system and enroll in college later.
Please my questions are
1. As a 19 year old with family members in canada who are ready to sponsor my trip and shelter me in canada, what should my statement of account look like?.
2. Do i need to show ownership of properties etc?
3. And what are the chances of getting a travel visa if i step down my age to 17 years to facilitate my entry into high school over there.
Thanks

Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by jpepper: 8:59pm On Jan 09, 2019
Regarding the age reduction option you will be considered a minor, here is a link with some information on education for minors

True assertion.... But to be honest, I don’t understand the reason behind the post vis-à-vis mine, I mean the correlation. I need some sleep maybe!

Since she didn't do medicals, her visa allows her stay in Canada for 6 months at every visit... I'm guessing she can always go to Yankee and come back and let another 6 months start counting grin
Seniors correct me if im wrong

Totally wrong. Her 6months starts counting once she enters either of the countries. Mind you 6months stay is not automatic its at the discretion of the immigration officer at the POE so always check what duration you are stamped in for.

Hi,
No I did not because I basically had nothing there. lol. I just got a letter from my employer showing my yearly salary.
I think you are more than good to go!
All the best to you!

Congrats smiley

I was wondering did you submit your bank statement as well?

I plan on sponsoring my parents financially and adding just my bank statement + letter of support + job letter + pay slips and the other usual docs . They’ve already successfully gotten canadian tourist visa before only difference is now I want to leave their bank statements out of the application as it is relatively low.
Do you think we are good to go?

Thanks

You are not being asked to pay rather your card details will be held except you are going for a hotel that wants instant payment. You must check the hotel properly or try another one.

How do I sign my online application?
You have to type in your name and answer a security question to submit your application. This is your electronic signature. Do not print out your application form to sign it.

Thanks, does this apply to imm5645e too. Cos i was told that one has to be printed and signed. The place to sign on it does not allow for you type in a name.

The one you need to print and sign is IMM5713E cos you can't save your details.

Hello Everyone
Please I need advise I was just denied student visa to the USA. I intend traveling for vacation to Canada soon. Is it a good idea to apply to Canada now for holiday. I currently have a valued 2 yrs Uk visa and my visiting USA visa just expired last month. Please let me knw what u think. I have also been to Dubai Uk and USA on different occasions FYI . Since my student visa was denied this January is it a good idea to apply for Canada tourist visa mid year 2019?. If yes please advise me
Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by OmoBendel24: 5:08pm On Jan 13, 2019
@Ninab and @MizGene;

"Visa application centres will screen all applications for CAN+ eligibility. Applications that show that the applicant travelled to Canada in the last 10 years or holds a valid U.S. non-immigrant visa will be sent to the visa office for expedited processing."

If going the paper route, call their attention to your qualifications for this at the VFS Office when you go for application submission.

No much biggy, looks good still! But if you can renew your B1/B2 visa first, it may help. Never "forget" to indicate truthfully in your application that your US F1 visa application was refused, very important.

Ok thanks but getting a b1 b2 is pretty tough these days. I would wait for a while then re apply. Honestly I don’t want b1 b2 again coz the denial rate is quite high these days
