NOPET:Buhari wants to "win" an election conducted by his relative, with INEC from his place. Police, DSS, EFCC, Army, Airforce, Internal security ministry run by his own boys. Now, a neutral judge has to be removed, because he happens to come from a PDP state. That's his idea of free and fair election! |

It amazes me most times when northerners like buhari would only go for southerners and those from the opposition and religious faith in the north under all in the name of fighting corruption...and some zombies and gullible minds would be hailing him. I am not opposed to investigating allegedly corrupt politicians but it has to be done holistically and in fairness. Daura who hails from same town with buhari was alleged to have stolen billions of naira as DSS boss but buhari did not look in that direction. malami, the AG and Minister of Justice was indicted of corruption but buhari left him untouched, likewise abba kyari who received bribe money from MTN...what did buhari do or is it because they're muslim from the north? I hope Nigerians following this bigot would soon realise he's doing the country more bad than good. |

HOGFoundation:The most sensible comment here ever. The empire of Nigeria is nearing its end. Mention one single muslim politician from the north who has been arraigned for corruption? I bame our foolish southern leaders who are following them like mumu all in the name of money and power. They always end up using them and dumping them...who talk say malam no wise? Tomorrow they'd say the CJN is an APC member so, they're also investigating APC members, contrary to what the Nigerians always say...that the fight against corruption under the APC is lopsided. How could you arraign a CJN for that matter for corruption charges within 3 days...as if our law or judicial process is so efficient in Nigeria. Due process is not even followed. What a govt! |

An illiterate that did not write GCE is now removing well educated people who went to Uni and to Law School studying night and day and practicing. One illiterate comes out of the wood works to make an educated man jobless just so he sworn in as President when he is not even literate enough to campaign. Annoints his DNA as INEC result announcer and sends Tinubu to campaign for him alongside his wife. What a silly country Nigeria is. They allow illiterate to subjugate Legislatures and Judiciary since he was given access to Ask Rock. What a foolish country |

nawebco:The Judiciary is an arm of government. can the Executive arm remove the head of the legislative arm without him being voted out by his fellow legislators? I think the problem we are having is the requirement for the president to nominate a CJN. To me, the CJN position should also be an elective one. |

lexy2014:Yes and No, No, because the NJC handles erring judges and then hand them over to the appropriate authorities for prosecution. But what of if the NJC decides to shield these erring judges, take the sting operation on judges in 2016 for example, those judges where serve invitation letters since 2015, and there were countless petitions against them that were submitted since 2015 yet the NJC did NOTHING. In this case the executive will intervene at some point. |
| Re: Constitution Says Erring Judges Must Be Investigated By NJC Only — Afe Babalola by wirinet(m): 6:39am On Jan 14, 2019 |
apasico:Why lie with so much confidence. The NJC never recommended the sacking of Salami, what the NJC did was to recommend the suspension of justice Salami to allow for investigation of the case against him. After investigations nothing was found on him and the NJC recommended a reinstatement, but Jonathan decided to fire instead. |

| Re: Constitution Says Erring Judges Must Be Investigated By NJC Only — Afe Babalola by wirinet(m): 6:49am On Jan 14, 2019 |
pryme:That's the crust of the matter. How is it possible for the NJC to judge on matters against it own members - especially it's chairman. It is like asking executives of a club or an association to preside of matters of their chairman or president. A typical example is the justics Salami vs Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu feud, The NJC automatically took sides with its chairman. They ordered the suspension and investigation of Salami, but did not do the same with Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu. One of Nigeria's greatest problem is corrupt judges, their damage to society is far worse than corrupt politicians, most of the people supporting the chief justice have never had the trauma of facing a corrupt judge. |

hedonistic:Does separation of powers amount to some people or class of people being above the law? For example, if the chairman of NJC should shoot someone in broad daylight light, NJC must find him guilty before he can be prosecuted? |

pryme:Just how your so-called Buhari led FG and its institutions have shielded Buhari's people from prosecution. If not why has the EFCC not arrested and prosecuted countless Buhari appointees and APC stalwarts accused of corruption (Including the Thief of Staff Kyari)? If you can't address this question, then it is disgusting for anyone to rationalise prosecuting the Head of another Arm of government. |
