There is a difference though. Alshaabab are launching once in a blue moon attacks dressed like civilians - Boko haram basically occupy territory, drive military cars, and basically rule most of North East Nigeria. That is more a occupying force. Alshabaab do that in Somalia. Not in Kenya.

Which part of North East is Boko Haram rulling

Not in Taraba, Not in Gombe,Not in Bauchi, Not in Adamawa,Not in Yobe

So what part of North East and don't even mention borno coz they are only in Lake Chad fringes

My problem with you is that you talk carelessly and you greatly lack depth which is unbecoming of someone your age... If you were in Nigeria you would never earn respect and that accruing someone of your age

In other countries - they would call the military - Kenya combined police force respond to terror attack at Riverside, Nairobi. These consist of regular police, the two paramilitary wing (AP & GSU - with elite squads) and the CID (plain clothes)

In kenya rarely are military ever used in anything...and majority use to retire without ever firing their guns in battle. Apart from somali war..they are mostly kept in barracks or outside the country in peacekeeping missions. That is how Kenya has avoided military misbehaving or overthrowing civilian rule. Keep the at barracks because they are trained to simply Kill.

I know a country where the President wakes up one day and orders the military to purchase cashew nuts from farmers and offer manual labour in construction of the SGR.

Steve Mbogo, the self made millionaire kid who unsuccessfully vied for an MP position in Nairobi was seen today outside the area of the attack with another unidentified man holding a rifle.

I've seen pictures of lots of Kenyans holding up guns, this might be the private gun owners. Let's hope they'll be kept at the tail end as the Reece Squad keeps on pursuing the attackers. We don't want any confusion at this time!

You are a very dumb man what trended was #Nigerians it meant Kenyans were talking about their much loved Nigerians and perhaps Nigerians in Kenya aren't up to 10k not up 6k would be on twitter there... There 41k Kenyan tweets about Nigerians which was the third highest in your country... If you say it was Nigerians who tweeted that means Nigerians who make up 0.002% of your population dominates your twitter and social media space

So in your tiny brain each Nigerian sends just one tweet? Ibrahimanis, you're two of you who cant grasp simple concepts and both of you are still in school.

Your recession is linked to collapse of oil/gas or commodity prices. It not only Nigeria that went into recession - it all commodity dependant countries. You recovery is equivalent to oil recovery. It's not only Nigeria that recovered but all commodity dependent countries. You're adopting an aggressive tone against Goel coz you don't have facts. I keep telling you facts are stubborn. South Africa had it's own issues linked to trade union minning woes & continued capital flight.

As Goel, you, everyone and I has rightly diagnose your problems start and ends with over-dependence on oil & gas. This is aptly called the Nigeria disease. You need to cure yourself from oil & gas dependence and it won't be easy. And you're not making any noticeable progress.

Don't sweat according to UNTCDA - about 46 out 53 Africa countries are commodity depedant - it could diamonds in Botswana and Sierra Leone, cotton in Burkina Faso, cocoa in Ghana, sorghum in Mali, oil in Nigeria,Gabon and Angola, and copper in Zambia. All these countries if they don't diversify will have cyclical growth just like commodities behave in global markets...booms and bust cycles. You can't plan anything long term if you're busting and booming.

How can Nigeria have diversified when oil still make 95% of it's gov revenues & exports.

You need to go back to 1960s - ramp production of cocoa beans, cashew nuts, palm oil and such easy wins - and seize the global market.

You need start building manufacturing base that can export to Africa countries. You do that by opening your manufacturing sector. Right now you're focused on import substitution. It like you never learnt of 1980s WB/IMF import substitution...it rarely works.

You need to fix the basics...electricity, roads, gov bureaucracies...make it easy for business to thrive.

I can go on and on...but you're FAR from being diversified.

obaaderemi:

Thanks @ bolded. But I don't think you've simplified anything here. You've not said anything anyone with basic knowledge of world affairs does not know. grin
Can you kindly point out where I said anything to suggest the bolded? I merely gave the lie to your claim that poorer economies always grow faster than richer economies by citing the examples of relatively poor economies such as Venezuela (-1.7& GDP growth), South Africa (-7% growth), and let me add Jamaica (0.5% GDP growth). And Nigeria (2.3%gdp growth) despite the fact that we are just exiting recession. Unless you don't know how debilitating an economic recession can be. That 2% growth is an upward trajectory that deserves some applause. Heck,we dropped below 1%! And I sincerely believe that upward trajectory is due to the fact that the Nigerian economy is more diverse than previously thought.
If I didn't know better, I would think so @ bolded. grin But trust me I know better and I can tell people apart, especially sane people from the less so. No,your opinions to me, are honest so far.
Thanks@bolded. To answer your question: I would say the decline to 2% was due not only to oil crash but also a poorly judged monetary policy by the present government. I told you we declined far below 1%. For us to be at 2% now is an upward swing and a clear evidence of the resilience of the Nigerian economy. 2019 is even going to be better according to projections.

I guess I have answered this. We once were among the three fastest growing economies in the world a mere 5years ago. If we Are at 2% now from -8%, pray tell me, how is that an indication that our income is declining? We are gradually getting back on our feet. That said, all is said is said on that matter, please.

Don't be silly, our politicians don't share pictures of airports and infrastructure and such things. And if they do,it's not different from what your politicians do as well. grin To suggest that the private sector has little contribution to infrastructure and development in Africa is plain ignorant. Right now,one of the largest petrochemical refineries in the world is nearing completion in Lagos and it's privately funded. There are numerous projects time would not permit me to list here.

We have largely contained Boko Haram @ 1st bolded. They are confined to north eastern part of Nigeria. They mainly attack villages. Our economic cities have always been free from the menace of Boko Haram. Terrorism is Hydra headed and not easy to finish as you think. Kudos to our military.
@2nd bolded: you sounded like IMF with its ignorance about thinking it knows what works for all poor countries. grin One size never fits all, bro. Clothing and steel industries are not the easiest and most profitable industries that could solve Nigeria's unemployment and economic problems quickly. What would work for Nigeria is agriculture and agro allied industries that can add value to what we produce. These will not only feed our people but also provide employment and foreign exchange. Light manufacturing of things we need would also help.

You are right @ bolded. I took the liberty to correct your error. Nigeria is Africa's largest economy.

The Kenyans would not like your closing shot especially the bolded. grin
