nobody expected Buhari to attend in the first place, its understandable, logical and rational for Buhari to have missed the debate, bcoz as the incumbent, the heat, attention and torrent of question would have been too much for him to handle, thats why he tactically stayed away.. but Atiku did a very big own goal by not attending, i wonder who advised him on that

it has definitely affect his image and goodwill, now people know his only agenda is to insult Buhari up and dwon with no proper guidelines and policies to get nigeria working

So even in 2015 he was still the incubent and the heat was on him. Let's be honest, Buhari just have the habit of disrespecting his citizens.

In 2015, the then President, GEJ attended the debate while Buhari dodged it. The APC goons joyfully watched the debate just to find faults with GEJ which they gladly used to campaign against him. I think Atiku is always a step ahead of APC strategems! Also, by going to the venue and not participating, he has successfully drawn the attention of the whole world to put pressure on Buhari to attend a debate!

He may have lost a bit of moral ground,but he has won the tactical battle.
The whole point is to demarket Buhari further which he would have done effortlessly with his far better performance.
Debating with Moghalu and Ezekwesili would on the other have cost him if they outperformed him in the absence of the incumbent,but weakest link,Buhari.
So,many Nigerians can rightfully be angry with him,but he stood to lose more in the absence of Buhari in that debate.

The present leader decided to absent himself.
They all came to challenge the incubent,not each other.
They all want to remove the incubent,and so all they came to do is to question the president on his style of rulling and present their own plan that would be better than his..

Please, let the debate serve as a note to all educated ones that those who did not participate in the debate didn't just make a smirk but have proven a fact that no matter how intense their impose failure, we will still put them into office. Even the bible disregard putting a new wine into an old wineskin... Why are we chanting for a change when we still have old skins running the business. To you who campaign to them, your sales of progress will not only affect you but your identity. Imagine what will be said when you are in abroad and a citizen there will ask you this, Did you vote for the oldskin? What will be your reply?
