I personally feel his sound is outdated.
It's just like doing what fela did 40 years ago in a worse way.

Every Musician should have his unique style.
As it stands, the Fela kids have no independent identity.
Imagine him doing Affobeats with modern instrumentals and beats like the likes of Wizkid or BurnaBoy, but making sense, and singing meaningful lyrics, he might have had wide spread acceptance in Modern Nigeria.

do u think Grammy is sentimental like naija awards?....the fact that his songs aren't appreciated here doesn't mean they aren't popular elsewhere....his uniqueness of his beats works for him.check Africans that have won Grammy awards , especially Angelique kidjo, they all have unique genre of music and not the kpangolo music naija and other African modern artistes churn out
His songs are still not popular, take Angelina Kidjo for example, her songs were popular in Nigeria all the way from her country. How many Benin republic nationales listen to Seun Kuti or even other African countries for that matter. Still wouldn't take away the fact that he probably might be a good musician.

Grammy doesn't look at the popularity of your songs before giving u award.your creativity matters to them...have u ever asked why Justin Bieber never won a major Grammy awards? or why an unknown artiste beat Beyonce to win the album of the year about 3 years ago?

this is what Nigerians don't know.there are many west african traditional musicians that are popular in western Europe and they usually organise huge concerts in Europe with huge crowd of white people..some of them are Baba maal, yossou ndour,ASA, salif kaita, kidjo,Femi kuti, oumar sagbare, sona jobarteh etc..their music are usually appreciated because bid their uniqueness and high level of creativity.

ironically, most Europeans don't even know about Davido and WizKid,except africans living in Europe.i have a feeling that Angelique kidjo is richer than Davido and WizKid ,but she is very silent about it.

my brother, they aren't popular in naija, but they are more popular than WizKid and Davido In western world...

Go to YouTube and see concerts held by artistes like Angelique kidjo,Baba maal, salif kaita, sonah jobarteh, diabate,Femi kuti, yossou ndour etc.u will ṣee thousands of white fans listening passionately to their solo consert......then compare their with WizKid and Davido In Europe or America tour ,u will only see black fans at the concert venue

evora ceasaria,ASA, Angelique,Mariam makemba,Baba maal etc perform more in Europe than all modern Nigerian artistes combined

#WhatiF: Seun Kuti wins the first Grammy award as a Nigerian based artist?

Mr Seun Kuti, the son of Afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti has been nominated for the Grammy Awards.
Before his nomination this year, many other Nigerian based artists have been nominated in the past with none of them winning the prestigious award.

Will Seun Kutu break the jinx?

Been nominated means you deserve it. His performance at #Onelagos astonished me and I was very amazed to the extent that the dstv commentator said he will surely bring home the award.
