A 17yr old patient, Ganiyu Jinadu, who sustained severe burns from a gas explosion at a fuel station in abeokuta has been detained by management of Federal medecal centre abeokuta over the inability of his family to offset the sum of #200,000 medical bill. His mother Tolani Jinad, said having spent all she has, the hospital management was maganimous to continue the treatment despite her inability to pay her son's bill. After referred to another hospital for another stage of skin grafting, the family was told the teenager owes an outstanding bill of 200,000 at federal medical centre abeokuta.
She said the management of the hospital refused to release her son for the futher treatment until the bill is paid paid.
The single mother called on average nigerians to assist her. He was referred to the consultant in charge of Burn centre, gbagada hospital, lagos, but could not go due to the outstanding bill.
The referal letter signed by J.A Akindipe of dept of surgery, burns and plastic surgery unit of FMC was dated Jan17. Nigerians please help my son she cries out. She also provided her account details as follows.
