NJC said they won't invite both the CJN and the Acting CJN to the meeting. So both are not invited .

This was what the suspended CJN should have done instead of postponing NJC meeting indefinitely. It would have denied the Executive the opening it seized upon to have him suspended!

How can he abstain when he wasn’t invited?

He doesn't need an invitation. He's a member of the NJC.

Thank God for this. We will finally rest. Whatever they decide is left to them. If they allow the presidency to usurp their power na them know.
I hope tribalism, bigotry, sentiments and compromises are removed from this meeting and everything is done with utmost professionalism because Nigeria matter tire me.

That's a good move by the Acting CJN.

So Nigerians will be able to see that whatever conclusion they made was not influenced by the acting CJN being the present chairman of NJC
This was what to have been done from the beginning but former CJN frustrated it by postponing the meeting indefinitely. Why did he do that?

Re: Acting CJN, Abstain From NJC Meeting To Allow For Dispassionate Proceedings by Laid2001: 5:00pm On Jan 29, 2019
Without him abstaining, NJC can not have met without him. They can only ask him to recluse himself which he has done.

And NJC has no power to punish any judge without recourse to PMB. That is the law.
So, tell me, how the president will approve of whatever recommendations that he does not like for the senate to ratify with 2/3 majority.

Note that the NJC act is an act which is subordinate to the constitution. An act can not override an explicit provision of the letters of the constitution. And NJC can not do jack against the president. Only a court of law can mandate the president to do that which he does not want to do ordinarily. NJC is not a court.

Late entries.. Is there another meeting or same one that we are waiting for the outcome

The outcome is that both Justice Onnoghen and Tanko have 7 working days to respond to the petitions against them, while the petition against Justice Danladi Umar was referred to the Judicial Service Commission.

Believe it or not, nothing will come out of this. Onoghen is swimming against the tide. Buhari's action is unconstitutional but we have since politicized this issue and it is now APC vs PDP. Our judicial officers are political too and there will be more APC judges than pdp judges. I think the suspended CJN is pro pdp and that's why Buhari was reluctant to appointment him and was quick to suspend him. That said it will take a lot to get him back. Just like Saraki's, all these charges will amount to nothing in the future, the aim was to get him out of the way.
So oga are you one of them? Who told you there are more apc judges than Pdp judges or is it the spirit if propaganda working overtime here?
Re: Acting CJN, Abstain From NJC Meeting To Allow For Dispassionate Proceedings by docadams: 5:00pm On Jan 29, 2019
This case will likely be resolved by negotiated settlement. There is no way the NJC can push Onnoghen's interest too hard and too far because of the criminal aspect of the issue which the executive will fastidiously pursue should the NJC be perceived to be partisan. The criminal aspect is even far more grievous than that which people chose to currently engrossed themselves with because it will lead to disrobing, sacking, undergoing criminal trial which on conviction will result in forfeiture of the undeclared sum, and imprisonment

A CJN who has never been a lawyer, never called to bar. A mere Sharia court judge is a Chief Judge of a country like Nigeria speaks volume of how our country now celebrates mediocrity.

You need to understand how this works. no meeting can be held without the approval of the chief justice. They are meeting because he approved it and decided to step aside which is what Onnoghen was supposed to do.

Lol. My feelings. I have been following and unfortunately we have turned this to a political issue. I just assumed that as APC is in power, i expect them to be majority everywhere. It's no propaganda but I just feel it's either the NJC affirm the suspension or they take a decision that will force onoghen out.
It doesn't work that way.
Re: Acting CJN, Abstain From NJC Meeting To Allow For Dispassionate Proceedings by Wallade(m): 5:24pm On Jan 29, 2019
I anticipate the following:

CCT chairman (Danladi Umar) and other judge that refused to acknowledge and apply the injuction issued by the Federal Court of Appeal on the trial should be retired for the questionable recommendation to Presidency, which the president relied upon, to suspend the CJN.

Approval should be given to the Attorney General of Federation to prosecute CJN while still in office. The suspension of the CJN must be pronounced null and void pending the determination of his cases in the courts. However, the CJN has the option to resign or remain in office while his tenure last despite being prosecuted.

The impostor CJN (Ibrahim Mohammed) purportedly sworn in by the president should be retired with immediate effect.

Effort should be made to determine the case of Onnoghen in courts as soon a possible to put this matter to rest.

I would have requested that the NJC recommend the suspension of Onnoghen pending the determination of his cases in the courts but that will make the judiciary play into the hands of the FG because they will not confirm whoever NJC recommends to presidency in good time hence, creating the lacuna that was prevalent before Onnoghen's recommendation was confirmed in the first place. Presidency will deliberately leave that position empty and inactive till all election tribunals and cases of their interest are determined. This APC goverment does not want to be challenged by a formidable arm of government like the Judiciary.
