Aunty which grade of oil are you referring to Brent or OPEC Basket as they do not sell at the same price due to their chemical and physical properties? To throw insults due to ignorance doesn't help your case.

Here's a link for you to read and be enlightened a bit.

Where are the figures from 1999-2004,let compare and contrast with 2015-2019 so we can understand the context Atiku was speaking here.

That price $125 you quoted was just for about 5days during Yardua's time after it was the catastrophic economic meltdown. That showed it was artificial and insider trading related and even at thatNigeria was unable to fulfil its order due to high level of militancy in ND.You guys should stop throwing figures up and down,I am most disappointed every time PYO throws those numbers up.

How much did Pdp save for that 2 years. If no savings, any projects to back it up?
Ask the following:
1. Babatunde Fashola - went to Supreme Court to stop the saving
2. Rotimi Amaechi - led Governors to stop transfer to excess crude account
3. Adams Oshomole - challenged Okonjo Iweala and AGF to share all accruable funds in the Federation account
4. Kayode Fayemi - co-conspirator to Fashole and member of "lets share the money now ... let the next generation earn and share theirs".

Big fat lie,the middle class rose again and I recall there was massive influx of cars(tokunbo) and towns started growing again as civil servants and teachers got a lot of money paid them in arrears. There was even a yoruba coinage for that period dedicated to Obasanjo

BigIyanga:
PDP grew our economy in 1999 from less than $200bn to $500bn
PDP grew the reserve from $4bn to about $50bn
PDP increased the minimum wage from less than N3k to N18k a whopping 600% increase.NLC is asking for about 60% increase and APC is crying that it is impossible.
PDP wiped off our foreign debt incurred by military guys like IBB, GMB and Abacha .
PDP introduced GSM technology by connecting over 100m while military guys like GMB and Abacha funded NITEL to only produce 400k lines.
PDP recapitalized banks and allowed over 50m Nigerians access to bank and banking products unlike GMB era
PDP didnt make Naija look like Dubai in 16 yrs, but APC must match these achievement by 25% since they have been in power by 4yrs. Blame cant do these but actions!
Were all these done under 4years? Haba get sense!

GEJ sold oil at over 100 dollars and we had a prosperous time because God was with him. There was enough to eat and drink and spend during his time.

Then you people said you prefered judgment and voted buhari.

Obasanjo's time was not this hard, now the ability to get things going as fast as possible from an actual zero treasury the army left takes initiative which the APC lacks.

The PDP grew that forex which you have confirmed, wiped off the debt through negotiations, relationships and above all unity and equity which breeds a safer country for investors. They knew how to run a nation.
Indomie child Obasanjos time was terrible and you need to shut it.

Why do you think Obasanjo and Atiku met our naira to dollar exchange at 25 naira to a dollar but when they left after 8 years it was 127 naira to a dollar?

They wrecked the economy and impoverished many.

Buhari met the dollar to naira exchange at 90kobo to a dollar and left it that way without any drop in the value of the naira.

Tell me who is the economic illiterate between the two

You are just decieving yourself because there is no single day Nigeria did not lift at worst $1.2 million barrels of oil since 1999 beside Nigerians Bonny Light was sold between 95$-125$ for complete 4 years not 5 days at you wrote up there. The records are there

That was because lord clueless GEJ in the guise of saving for the states was still looting from it.

Every time they asked for the statement of account the governors saw that the money instead of increasing was decreasing. This was why they said they wanted to save it themselves and asked for the money to be shared.

GEJ was a thief under PDP same way Atiku is a thief under the same party

Buhari and his lifeless team always makes the assertion that crude oil price was at $100 for 19 years. The fact is that you can't compare the obj/atiku administration and this present one.. OBJ administration had all the indices against them..
-price of oil was very low
- they were the first democratic elected president
- huge world debt
- worse infrastructure
-low external foreign Reserves
But they performed excellently with the little resources at their disposal

The undisputable fact is, a whole lot of monies accrued to the PDP led Federal Government between 1999 and 2015..... If such monies were made available to Muhammadu Buhari, then he would have done way better than this...... But in PDP's case, the country ain't really got nothing to show for all these huge monies they got
Monies like the 50 Naira stamp duty that all Nigerians making cash deposit in excess of 1000 Naira are being forced to pay. Do you know how much money the present FG makes daily from surcharging the citizens #50 for every single deposit in excess of #1000 daily. Recently FG stopped bearing charges for all Remita transactions which hitherto was borne by FG. Now the Nigerians are forced to bear charges for any payment made to TSA via Remita platform.

We are borrowing because oil is below the price we need it not to borrow.

Right now, we need oil at 140 USD before we can run a budget without borrowing. Oil is at 60 USD.

Foreign reserves are not for spending recklessly. They are a buffer for the day when Nigeria cannot sell oil.

I'll give Buhari kudos for growing the reserve amid declining oil prices. Venezuela did not do the same. See where they are now
When a country earns money in foreign currency, it can do two things: set up a sovereign wealth fund(excess crude account) or save the foreign currency in its foreign reserves.

What is the difference between these two accounts?

In foreign reserves, the naira equivalent of the dollars earned is spent by the country and only the dollars remain in savings. This means that the country can only use the dollars to meet the demand for foreign currency by its locals and not for purchasing infrastructure or investments. The value of money in the foreign reserves has already been spent by the government and cannot be spent twice.

Sovereign wealth funds are what we believe are foreign reserves, true savings that can be used for investments, infrastructure or whatever.

The increase in our foreign reserves reflects the increase in our foreign borrowing, not better management of earned funds. the naira equivalent of that money has already been spent.

The only props a person can give this government is by reducing the demand for dollars by raising the price of dollars (from 160 to 360) which has invariably brought untold hardship to the Nigerian masses.

By the way, the key difference between Nigeria and Venezuela is that the Venezuelan MASSES are used to drinking milk(fresh milk), eating pasta, eggs, butter(not margarine), cheese, brioche, sausages and other assorted foods uncommon to average Nigerians. Many of these foods are imported into Venezuela so when oil prices fell and the value of their currency fell, the common people in Venezuela could no longer afford the food they were accustomed to. In Nigeria, our diet is very West African and our masses eat locally produced food. Food prices may have fallen as farmers compete to sell their perishable foods to fewer people with money.

In summary, the Venezuelan crisis is a result of the taste and preferences of the Venezuelans and not because their government is worse or better than ours.
