Please i will like to know if Nigerian Used 2007 Honda Accord is a good Choice... And what should I look out for after Getting the Ride...

The most reliable bunch of the 7th generation(last year of production). But buying Nigerian used... Due diligence must be sought WELL.

It is equipped with a double wishbone suspension at the front, with the lower ball joint being a load bearing type. Check for creaking sound when turning steering from left to right to see if you have a bad ball joint.(Not a reliable test though)

Use ONLY genuine Honda fluids for the gearbox and the power steering. Check for power steering rack leaks which may signal a steering rack failure.
Ensure there is no electrical abuse of any kind at the engine bay area (e.g. fan coming on once ignition is switched on and AC is off.

The 4 cylinder is a lot better, in my opinion.

If you are considering the inline 4, the 2010 Camry is your best bet. More powerful and much more reliable engine( 2.5L engine as against the 2.4) 6speed automatic compared to the 5 speed of the i4 of the 2009 and below. Better sound insulation.

For the V6 I would recommend 2009-up. To avoid the notable 3-4 shift flares of the 2007 models and also stick acceleration pedals.
Thanks for this. Also what's your opinion on upgraded Camry. I have seen 2007 Camry upgraded to 2010 and 2008 upgraded to 2011. What are the pros and cons of this, do we still classify such car as the year it was upgraded? Will upgrading classify it as a recent one? God bless.

Yes the 07 had transmission issues, in 2013 and 14 it was over nairaland but the wahala Don reduce.

07 and 08 had the 2.4L i4 while the 2010 has 2.5L i4. I think you are better off with the 2.5L i4 2009 upwards.

Upgrade in Nigeria context is facial/appearance it does change the fact that it is still the same year and same everything.

upgrade done by manufacturer is much more.
let's take the camry for example

a 2007 has 2.4L and 5spd auto

a 2010 has 2.5L and 6speed auto

when you change only bumper and headlamp and leave engine and gear, can we categorically say it's an upgrade.

Partial upgrade na grin. Haba change engine and gearbox ke, he for kukuma sell it and add money buy 2010 model. Apart from the change in drivetrain, the 2010 model has some upgrades like usb input which is not available on 2007 models.

Look for one with the Mark Levinson stereo.

This is rare. I have not come across this type.

Electrical issues. The rains bring up issues that ordinarily wouldn't manifest.
Some also have defective wipers.
I know a friends car that wouldn't accelerate past 20 km/hr anytime it rains and its a manual for that matter.
He sold off the car before we could even figure out the problem during the dry season. grin

Ford V6 was used on the Mazda 6 too, I believe. It'll probably be more reliable.

I'd buy the Camaro, tbh.

All experts in the house, I'm looking for good alternative to 2013 Toyota RAV4. How well can Nissan Rogue 2013 or Mitsubishi Outlander 2013 perform on Nigeria roads. Kindly give feedback in terms of reliability, parts accessibility and handling. Cheers.

I wouldn't touch any of those. Look at a Mercedes GLK, Acura RDX, or Infiniti EX (rare).

CRV is probably the obvious option, though.

RX is a luxury version of the Highlander. Anything the Highlander does, the RX does better. RX is probably slighter worse on gas, and RX parts may be more available.

I can't say much about the Rogue/qashqi/qashqi II which ever you can lay your hands on but

The 4cylinder Mitsubishi Outlander is a car you will never ever regret owning.

body they are all the same shape

engine 07 and 8 had 2.4L while 09 to 11 had 2.5L the 2.5L is better and trouble free they both have the same 3.5L engine throughout.

every other thing is identical but in terms of recommendation a face lift 09-11 should be considered if funds can cover any of the years. Do try to avoid an 07 by all means

Durability RX350

fuel economy Rx350 better

Luxury offerings Close call

2nd hand value Rx350

power MDX

The mdx is better in performance and a 7 seater, handles well on the road even on full load with very responsive engine.

The Rx is a champion in the category with some very well thought out offering and good looks.

any you pick is OK but with performance on your mind the mdx is the choice with simplicity and reliability RX is your choice

Looks like Im alone on this, never considered the RX to be of good looks.

In the Toyota/lexus line, I only consider the ES350, the IS250/350, Toyota Venza, Camry 07-11, Lexus LC and the 2013-date Avalon to be of good looks.

nothing like v4 it's a mistake most people make its i4 (in line 4 cylinder) meaning the engine is a 4 cylinder arranged in a straight line.

V6 is six cylinder arranged in a variety shaped 3 cylinders each at opposite sides.

I6 or i5 is in line six and 5 cylinder respectively arranged in a straight line to each other.

none is better than the other depends on application. But on a lay man's terms considering the camry you are eyeing I4 for fuel economy pick the V6 for speed.

@heavenlybang and cityngr I know there were V4 for cars way back but for now we should just say no V4 because they are virtually extinct and nobody is going to make one for cars anytime soon
