I think it has a grain of truth, because if you read comments online, most people's 1st impression of him, is that of a Hispanic male. They don't think he is black.

It's from various non-black admixture present in African Americans. Some African Americans are not enough majority black African ancestry. Some are more European white than African black. The more pure black African blood African Americans are usually found in the deep American South where seregation still reigns (segregation is good for African Americans as it preserves their race in a country where they are only about 10% of the population).

Enabled by segregation in American states like Alabama or Mississippi. Deep South African Americans, the purer and darker African American, dominate athletics. They look similar to this:

American football already has Nigerian-Americans who can play tough positions. Chidobe Awuzie is a Nigerian-American who plays cornerback and he's very good:

No, they aren't eg. Wesley Snipes, Kevin Hart, etc. If they were generally lighter in complexion, then people like Trevor Noah wouldn't be mistaken for a Mexican by black Americans.

Another thing is, America is a multiracial society, so I'm sure the people you carefully selected have mixed bloodline somewhere in their family tree.

Furthermore, not all Africans are darker. Some are lighter, which again depends on the racial makeup of each individual African countries. In South Africa for instance, people tend to be lighter because most of them have mixed ancestry (the good weather also lends a helping hand grin), ranging from Khoisan to Caucasian, that's what happens in countries where there's more than just one race-people sleep with each other & reproduce.

The Khoi are genetically distinct to black Africans and thus don't represent the true spectrum of Black African skin tone anymore than Horners do. Black Africans in general are dark-skinned when they are poor. OP is full of mixed race people like Brazilians.

Very few entertainers do.

You are so correct. Even the average Black Americans don't.
Now they may use an umbrella to keep the sun off of their skin or complain about getting darker or even "wish" they were lighter ....but they very rarely bleach.
It's just not done.

In short...African Americans have a lighter skin tone because they are not pure bred. Their history has a lot to do with that..... slavery....women being raped by Whites. Then the indoctrination. .... lighter is better than darker.... for the last 40 years or so...Black and Proud is what it is....while Black is Beautiful is becoming taboo in Africa. Don't worry...very soon ... mainly by force. ... Africans will bleach themselves and become generally fairer than African Americans.

We are not an admixture of the Chinese. angry

That's not entirely true. My mother traced her dna to Cameroon,British, Native American, and SouthEast Asian. Of course, the SouthEast Asian, and Native American components were small and generations ago. What Im saying is AA bloodline is complicated, DNA analysis proves this to be true.

Lol @ someone claiming AA bleach. We are not known for bleaching, it's extremely rare and highly looked down upon. You will be extremely ridiculed if it's found out that you bleached. The only time I've ever heard of an AA bleaching is if it was for reasons related to vitiligo as is the case with Michael Jackson. Some with this condition have bleached their skin in order to make it one even tone. AA as a whole are naturally lighter toned on average due to the fact of that we have about 30% mixture with lighter toned races, primarily European and Native. Additionally, our African roots are substantially derived from Igbo and other African ethnic groups in which are known for having a rather large light complected demographic.

(looking around) Who's bleaching?? I'm brown-skinned and I know no one including myself who has bleached. Im glad you cleared this up.

Your mother's bloodline does not represent all A.A. and besides, those tests are bogus. undecided

Spot on and please don't mind people who don't understand DNA tests and what the results actually mean.

AA's have admixture in them and are generally lighter in complexion to native Africans. A simple test of the cast of Black panther will attest to this. the AA characters are generally lighter than their African counterparts.

The Khoi are as genetically distinct to Yoruba as are Yoruba to the Dinka tribes. They are genetically African in every sense of the word but have a much older genetic makeup.

The term Black African encompasses all who are predominantly African in genetic makeup and appearance, this would include your Ethiopians, Sudanese, bantu, khoi, sene-gambian and the likes.

Africans do not have one skin tone expression and generally speaking are a dark brown as opposed to a jet black skin tone. AA's would display these variations as well outside of any mixtures but would tend to have lighter tones because of admixtures as well.

You don't know anything , countries llike Rwanda,Ivory Coast,Ghana,Kenya and South Africa have all banned skin bleaching creams. You wish Africans were self-hating skin bleachers but it will never be the case. The most known skin bleachers in the world are Black Americans like Michael Jackson,Lil Kim,Azalea Banks and many others.

Good to learn those countries banned bleaching creams. Why not Nigeria?.. fear of a revolution? Black Americans?...notorious skin bleaches?..no they are not. You bleach ...Black Americans will come for you. .Michael Jackson caught hell from them for bleaching....they never bought his vitiligo excuse. Latinos...Puerto Ricans in particular....and Indians bleach a whole lot.
