Do u even know d implications of Onoghen going just like that?

SENATE PRESIDENT can equally wake up one day , manufacture one court Order and suspend the President?

He can tell us that he was only obeying court order.

This illegality must be restricted by all.well.thinking Nigerian.

If he is guilty of any charge, the rule of law must be followed to ascertain that.

Laws are Laws, without them we are savages.
And the president with whole apparatus of state wont use it against him when you know how ethnic incline we re in Nigeria??

by the time the federal government and his APC senators storm the Supreme Court to challenge the powers of saraki and his co-leaders to go to court without the resolution of all members of the Senate, the case will be adjourned to May 29, by which time all the cases resulting from the president election would have been over.

Finally, Onnoghen team of SANs has failed to stop proceedings on Monday. I actually didn't know why they were scared in the first place.

Monday is it!

I also like the noninvolvement of the acting CJN. He's left out of the process and it's cool.

That way decisions cannot be influenced and Nigerian people can see its transparency.
Yes let all the legal processes go on to logical conclusion but onnoghen should be allowed to fight for his name legally n not cajoled to resign just to suit the agenda if his traducers.

there are loopholes in nigeria law. but that do not mean an independent arm of government should harass other arms?
there are loopholes and unless those are closed they will be exploited

Jonathan exploited the cbn loophole buhari has exploited the cjn loophole, NASS needs to amend it.

the CJN is chosen by the NJC and recommended to the president for appointment. He is an appointee of the NJC and not that of the president.

Should we also say the President is an appointee of the CJN since he is the one that swore him in to office
The CJN is recommended bo the NJC but it is the president that appoints him.

Unless stated otherwise he who appoints has power to suspend and remove. The constitution doesnt say anything as regard suspension which means the president can assume he has that power.
The constitution has a loophole.

The Senate president on behalf of Senate took the matter for determination... The supreme court Judges Judgement will not favour the executive. So president buhari can't remove a CJN.

It is unconstitutional. Please don't quote me follow the judgement on Monday.
The senate didnt make that decision so the leadership isnt acting on anyones behalf.

You and I know that no matter how hard he fights this situation, he cannot be reinstated.

It'd honourable for him to resign and seek redress concerning forfeiting his whole money.

Let me educate you.

In a situation where our laws re not sufficient to deal with a problem.

The best thing to do is to amend them.

The executive should not be seen as an arm of government that chooses which law dey will obey.

The Executives can equally send an amendment to the existing law to the National Assembly. And have that law ammended so that we can have such situations again.

The problem with you lot is that you lack the basic cognizance to understand the implications of lawlessness being brandished by the Executive.
Loophole are meant to be exploited, im not suprised.

I'm telling you and I realised majority of our problems is not just the leaders but also most of the followers have serious problems.

You said your politicians are corrupt.. the top level people are corrupt.. now they bring corrupt people before you.. you're still complaining they didn't follow due process.. Ukrainian trashed there corrupt politicians in the bin.. when they were tired.. they went to parliament to pick them up one after the other and through them in the bin.. Does it matter how corrupt people are taking out of the way?

Some people are just clueless forgetting the fund this people are looting is also there money.. Some Mumu followers Dem.
It's a disturbing situation. They say due process was not followed, even after the recommendations came from the CCT, what other due process do they want? We say someone is corrupt, they say Buhari is a tyrant and a dictator. It's indeed disturbing how we play with sensitive situations in this country and how we attach unnecessary and tribal sentiments to these matters.

We cannot collectively speak against evil without calling it witch hunting. If he was clean, the law is there to freed him and whole world will know it's truly witch hunting. Yet, as obvious as it is, true and confirmed allegations, some people are still supporting it. Some people are indeed confused about life.

If onoghen resigns he is finished, seek which redress?,if saraki had not stood firmly he would have long been a goner, there are certainly concrete ground for onnoghen to fight his case,I would do same if I were in onnoghen's shoes.what you just said means since buhari is against onnoghen he should just go n not necessarily because he is guilty, that buhari should not be questioned no matter what!.

Shhhhh... Didn't u read he will be the one to choose the panelist? So what is the difference?
That's his function as an acting CJN and there are other Justices to monitor proceedings.

Make una get sense.. They are not challenging the charges.. They are challenging the sucking of the CJN by the president.

They want to know if it is constitutional. At least we are still in democracy.
Read what you typed again... Does it make sense? They want to know if it's constitutional, even as law senior advocates in Nigeria? This is obvious defense for corruption.

judiciary is an independent arm of government. cbn is not. cbn is directly under executive arm of government. judiciary us not under executive.
The independence of the Judiciary is only theoretical! They are not practically independent because it is the President who appoints a CJN through the recommendations of NJC.

The president can decide to discard NJC's recommendations and appoint another as in the case of Justice Ayo Salami where Jonathan discarded the NJC recommendations for his to be reinstated but instead appointed Justice Adamu Adamu.

Another example is Amaechi's refusal to appoint a state judge recommended by NJC in favour of another, that led to closure of the courts in Rivers State then.

I hope they win sha

It's seems that you didn't understand what you read or you can't comprehend because it was also stated that HE , the acting CJN will be the one to pick the people involved on the panel.
And your limited knowledge didn't tell you that it's part of the function of a CJN or acting CJN to select such panel...

The law is sacred... there is a presumption of innocence, until proven guilty in a competent court of law; even where he has admitted to guilt - he still deserves a fair representation (S. 36 of the CFRN).

This is even More so where the CJN - The Most Senior Judicial Officer in the Land, is involved.

Lawyers need to protect their profession from a tyrannical president. If this was left to fly - it will create a bad precedent - that future presidents can, at their will, remove Judicial Officers without recourse to due process.

One thing the public fails to note about these suits is that they do not bother on the substance of the allegations - they are just about due process and constitutionality of the suspension.

Buhari is just another dictator - in a sane country he won’t even be considered by a political party let alone the presidency.
That's why you're blinded to the truth. You see tyranny and a dictator, we see someone fighting against the evil destroying this nation.

Every due process has been followed and this is entirely a case of corruption even if it wasn't. It's a height of evil for such person you rightly described as the most senior judicial officer in the land, who's expected to know the law and uphold it, intentionally go against that same law. It's a big shame that we have people like are supporting this evil.

Alright since u are seeing it like that.. Then we all should have asked Buhari to step aside for not submitting his waec credentials before election..

Constitution is constitution bro. Without it, we are doomed. I wonder why kemi the ex minister didn't go to jail. In a sane country, she would av been jailed.

if president discards njc recommendation, njc still has to recommend another judge and president shall forward his name for Senate for approval. GEJ erred in salam case just as buhari is wrong in onnogen own.
