The main reason is Economies of scale.
That is , the volume of .COM domains registered worldwide is far higher than the volume of registered .NG domains.
Revenue covers operational expenses, among other things. If few domains are sold, then the price per domain must be higher.

Even when you wanna be more patriotic they will still take advantage of you.

It's a CCTLD (country code top level domain) and does have a geographic or country designation.

It's more specific than a GTLD (generic top level domain) that can target anywhere.

If your market audience is Nigeria, it's advisable you hop on .ng as it's country targeted and boost your SEO presence. Google doesn't need to rank brain before knowing that you're shooting at Nigerians and you're a Nigerian brand.

All CCTLD are expensive than GTLD and just in case you can't afford .ng (which I think is more well pronounced and presentable for brands) you can go and pick .com.ng (that's like 1k or 1.5k yearly)

Not totally true bros. For instance.... .site is cheaper than .com but is .site more registered/demanded than .com? There are many other domain extensions like that cheaper than .com but are not really popular, so i don't believe its all about economics..

those are not tangible reasons. Other countries' ccTLD also have suffixes that make up words too.


It's just greed nothing more than that. Even there's be occasiona of buying a .ng/.com.ng domains only for the authorities to seize it because of it's potential

stop talking about what you havr very little knowledge of. That's the godamn reason. Every country has ccTLD even smaller poorer countries yet it's not as outrageously expensive than this. Even countries with popular ccTLDs didn't make it unaffordable for the citizens.

Do you know it takes just $5 to register a drone in the US, do make inquiry how much it costs to do so in thia country

I think it's most likely because it's a CCTLD, like maybe there is a huge sum NIRA pays to whatever body for .ng so when registering a .ng domain as an end user u have to also take a share of that cost. So probably its left for the government to decide to subsidize it (just an assertion though, not totally sure)

But las las u can still intelligently tell me it's an economics thing and u won't be wrong cus afterall anything concerning money is economics
