This is the price including freight to Nigeria outside custom charges
1kg (3200-3300) @ $990 or 1000 seeds @$576

But i will buy the 1kg seeds (3200) @$990. I may sell 200 seeds @ $80-$90 range if I don't see a safe land to use all seeds.

Selling oil is way more profitable . If an oil farm liases directly with cosmetic companies, I'm sure the companies will be happy to purchase oil instead of seeds.

You think so?

1 hectare produces 5-10 tons

1 ton is 1000kg

1 kg of seedlings is $1000

If you sell 5 tons(5000kg) at $500 per kg = $2,500,000 shocked shocked

$2,500,000*NGN360 = NGN900,000,000

angry

*i think it's the highness in my head

You are mixing it up.
1kg (3000-3300 seeds) of seedlings for germination is about $1260 including transport to Nigeria

But if you want to sell the seeds after germination, it won't be higher than 2000 naira per kg since most companies won't buy above that price.
Meaning 10 tons will realise 10,000*2,000= 20,000,000 naira only

It's only expensive because it's the parent seedling under patent from India.

They can't be sold but you can convert to oil or use for soap/cream production.

It's not GMO. They are only under patent. The inventor wants to make plenty money before opening up to the public.
I know if it reaches Nigeria, farmers wouldn't obey patent rules.
Re: ... by Nobody: 12:48pm On Feb 09, 2019
Really? What is the essence of buying the seeds then if you can't resell the yield from the cultivates seeds?

Very sad situation. He should be swimming in money by now. I'm not starting a farm unless I can completely fence it. 160 hectares would have yielded oil worth N4.8bn @ N10, 000/litre.

One thing I know though is that the oil is expensive enough to cover fencing cost of farm land and the farmer can still break even in less than 18 months.

The fence must not be iron and can even pay for itself if jatropha is used.

I know a big investor will soon come in to make serious money from Moringa oil.

The plants that can drive away cattle are mainly two which can be intercropped with moringa. There are Castor and Jatropha but this fulanis are just pure evil. Some of them will cut down the trees and feed their cow. This is the height of wickedness.

Is there a particular land type that one can plant this moringa seeds?
Does it do well in areas prone to flooding?

Living fences only work against wild animals or animals without the herder! When you have criminal herder, he will use cutlass to make way for his animals to have access to the farm and eat your money (your crop is money you know). Best bet is metal chain fence or sandcrete block fence and then have human security!

Honestly I believe an electrified iron fence is the solution but fencing 160 hectares. This is sad.

There's also the option of interlocking laterite blocks.

AFTER MY INVESTIGATION ABOUT THE MOMAX 3, GOT SOME FACT FROM A MORINGA EXPERT , SEE BELOW :
So he charges Rs.59619 per kg ? Actually the so called momax as claimed by someone in Jaipur does not belong either to Jaipur in Rajasthan or any other state except South Central Tamilnadu where this same moringa has been under cultivation since 50 years .
This traditional variety of moringa is planted at plant density of 250 trees per acre and 625 trees in one ha . Well grown tree that is in about 2-3 years will produce 600 pods per tree .For 250 trees @ 600 pods you will get 150000 pods and each pod wil carry on an average 11 seeds .So for 1.5 pods you will get 1.65 lac seeds .Out of 1.65 lac seeds 1/3 of pods ( 4 seeds at distal end of pods ) will go waste as immature or partially matured .Final eligible seed quantity produced per acre is 1.1 lac quality seeds per acre .Each seed weighs 0.30 grams .so all 1.1 lac seeds @0.3 grams per seed will give you total seed quantity of 330 kgs and for one ha ( 2.5 acre ) your anticipated yield will be around 825 kgs or at the maximum 1000 kgs per Ha .Even if the man claims two flowering in a year the total moringa seed production will be 1650 - 2000 kgs ( 1.65 - ,2.0 MT) . The farmer who rigorously follow seed production standards will get above quantity of moringa seed yield and will sell @Rs.2500/3000 per kg but never at this exorbitant rate of Rs.59619 / kg . Lot of malpractices are being done on this kind of moringa seed business . Usually farmers cultivate moringa for pods for local market and usually they harvest between 15 to 20 MT of green pods per Ha . When the pods are sold @Rs.20 -25 per kg ,moringa farmers make an income between 3 - 5 lac per acre per year . When there is no market price for moringa farmers will not harvest and leave the pods mature and dry in the tree itself and collect seeds that are purchased by so many north indian businessmen and resold for oil extraction and some people are reselling this unsorted seeds for sowing purpose .Story goes like this . Now a days online marketing rules the roost and buyers without even knowing the credential of seed producer or seed seller just read through beautiful messages and extra information posted in their website and buy the seeds and later after one or 2 years after sowing they realise their mistake and some end users have gone without telling what has happened to them in the cultivation . .so I advise you just get seeds only from reliable sources for the price that never exceeds $ 35 - 50 per kg.

Check the forum just like nairaland but India forum for farmers. Never plant a seed of moringa before, But I got this fact from an expert. But do your proper investigation to avoid mistakes. Thanks

Your offer to sell 200 seeds is tentative, i.e. only on condition that you don't have a safe land to plant.
Business agreement should be affirmative i.e. that you give 200 seeds to your prospective client.
If there is assurance of getting the 200 seeds then I am game.
