Money with Pension Funds are supposed to be invested by the Pension Fund Custodians! They on their own invest it in Treasury Bills because it is safe and the return is good! Stop parading your ignorance on the internet!

Also, every of those companies had 11 Million Naira debited. No tax calculation whatsoever. Even if your tax to be paid is 100,000 Naira, Fowler still had people's account debited for 11 Million Naira. No law empowers FIRS to do that. Why can't they continue with locking the office premises? Even courts do not instruct banks to debit accounts. We are just in a lawless country!

In Nigeria we abuse anyone attempting to enforce tax laws and reward defaulters with presidency, and other responsibilities. We pity the tax evaders because we see them as stealing from the government not from us. We then turn around to complain of bad roads, no good health system and low quality public education

Section 31 of the FIRS Act and Section 49 of CITA empower FIRS to allow a bank debit the account of any defaulter...so it's legal, which isn't even the issue now. What is important is that you would be notified and given the opportunity to object to any tax assessment. You see, the bank would be wrong to debit your account if FIRS provides no evidence that the assessment is "final and conclusive!"

I would advise you seek legal counsel on this issue.

Oga,The Fowler letter is all over social media..there is no assessment attached. Thats why he asked for the companies bank statements. Why do you think it was flat debit of 11 million against each company and not assessed amount for each company? Is tax amount same for each company when its not a penalty? At least i can speak for myself, we do not have any oustanding tax assessment anywhere. Have all tax clearances issued up to date.

One, which of the pension fund manager are you talking about? There are many. Which particular one was sacked?
Two, do you know ALL pension funds are privately owned except one? And I don't know anybody that subscribed to the govt owned one!
Three: Do you think Pension Fund administrators just collect the pension and keep it? Pension funds is invested and TB is one the accepted investment options
