The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate of the Kwara south senatorial district Lola Ashiru as winner of the contest.

The Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Sylvia Malom while declaring the result at the Irepodun Local Government Secretariat in Omu-Aran, said Ashiru polled 89, 704 to emerge winner.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Senator Rafiu Ibarhim, Ashiru’s closest rival in the election, polled 45, 176 votes.

According to AREANEWS.NG, Malomo said Ashiru having scored the highest number of votes in the election was declared winner and returned elected.
