Salihu Yakasai might be high on fermented kunu.
Buhari needs to understand that he failed on the economy and SW voters decided not to celebrate his failure on the most important thing.
Also, Oyo and Ondo bore the brunt of the herdsmen incursions. Falae's farm was destroyed, etc. Oyo farmers were impacted. Does he think they will then rush to endorse him? Those that were upset voted their conscience. Apparently enough were upset that he lost both states.
What of Ajimobi that kept insulting people with his ill-timed and unsympathetic "constituted Authority" outbursts? Did he make it to the Senate? Yorubas are the most astute and intelligent voters and know when you are to be taught an electoral lesson when you tick them off or you have outgrown your breeches.
How these guys thought the "herdsmen disaster" was a non-issue is mind-boggling! And now they talk about "betrayal!"

Buhari could have responded promptly to the issue, but he didn't; instead, he wasted valuable time in relative silence! There and then some SW voters made up their minds.

Some even argued that the Lagos-Ibadan Rail Project and some "juicy" appointments in Buhari's cabinet should have sufficed to easily reelect Buhari! These guys have no idea what the SW is all about. Didn't Fayemi's first tenure improve Ekiti's infrastructure? It did...but was that enough for his reelection?

The arrogance of some APC governors in the SW didn't help the situation. Ajimobi was talking any how...Aregbe too didn't handle the Adeleke issue with tact, which surprised me...Akeredolu also wasn't innocent of careless utterances: little things like these can derail a politician's fortunes in the SW!

Some SW voters had a lot of reasons not to vote for PMB...those who voted for him on Saturday did so only because they love PMB and want him to continue the anti-corruption fight. So SW votes had nothing to do with religion (as some have insinuated) nor anything to do with ethnicity. The votes reflected APC's performance score card in the SW.

Anyone that is surprised that the fulani won't give the Yoruba a bloc vote hasn't been paying attention to hausa and fulani politics. Even if Buhari had won 100% votes in Yorubaland, the real north will still cross over to any party and back another fulani in 2023. We didn't vote Buhari, we voted Osinbajo and the beginning of a new conversation, even Tinubu had privately raised the topic of him being betrayed by Buhari and his people. So to the so-called north, none of your game is lost on us, we just had to get Buhari in to get us faster to where we are going, Atiku would have taken 8 years plus an igbo Vp is a no no. God willing there won't even be election or Nigeria in 2023. Thank you Yakassai for helping to wake up the rest of Yoruba who are still not buying into our autonomy, not like we need everybody but at least this will bring more people to our cause. The north is just about hanging itself with greed, this statement is not just Yakkasaii's alone, it was planned and delivered as scheduled, so grab your popcorn people and enjoy the show, let's see how it will all play out.

Volksfuhrer:
Tinubu did not destroy AD and Afenifere. Tinubu's rise to prominence came only after he survived PDP's power play in the SW. AD and Afenifere's influence in the SW petered out after that...

If anybody was responsible for AD's emasculation and Afenifere's apparent irrelevance in the SW, that person would be OBJ!
That is not true.

Which money do you bring to Nigeria that makes you want to have any project at all? What's the worth of cow and sand?
garux:
SW shot themselves on the foot. People over here are angry cos Buhari did more projects in SW than he did in the North.

Thank you very much. I have said it somewhere that Buhari should not bother to appoint ministers from west that he should put his son, relatives and friends as usual. I know Buhari and his people will hasten our long time prayers. For the railway, they should be reminded that Awolowo built the first railway in West during regional government it was one Nigeria that messed the whole thing up. Right now prodigal sons like Tinubu will remember his father when it's dawn.

Atiku will recontest in 2023 under PDP banner.
As for this 2019 election, it's a done deal for Buhari.

It is true that APC won with good margin in Lagos Ogun and Ekiti. unlike other states in the south west. However votes in Southwest still complement Buhari s victory...Any candidate coming from the south must be acceptable on the north.
