RUSSIA WARNS US AGAINST MILITARY INTERFERENCE IN VENEZUELA'S AFFAIRS



Russia warns the United States against military interference in Venezuela's affairs, it would be a disaster, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Thursday.

"We warn against this. We believe that this would be a catastrophic scenario that would shake the foundations of the development model we see in the Latin American region", Ryabkov said in an interview with the International Affairs magazine.


The Deputy Foreign Minister stressed that Moscow would support Caracas on the matter, also regretting that the Organisation of American States "was to a large extent involved in this" and "added fuel to the fire".

"As we see how the situation in Venezuela develops, we note the willingness of a certain group of countries, including the United States, to use different platforms such as the Organization of American States, to increase pressure on our ally Venezuela under different pretexts… But we have always supported and will support friendly Venezuela that is our strategic partner", he stated.

Nationwide anti-governmental protests have been shaking Venezuela since the beginning of the week, while supporters of the country's leader, Nicolas Maduro, have also held rallies.
On Tuesday, the opposition-run Venezuelan National Assembly adopted a statement declaring Maduro a usurper. On Wednesday, Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido declared himself the country's interim president at a mass rally in the Venezuelan capital.

Some foreign countries, including the US and Canada, have recognised Guaido as an interim president of Venezuela.

Meanwhile, media reports have suggested that the United States is considering imposing an oil embargo against Venezuela if Maduro takes drastic action to defend his government. Trump, asked by White House reporters Wednesday afternoon if he was considering sending the US military to Venezuela, replied that nothing was being considered, but that all options were on the table. A senior White House official, shortly before Trump's statement, had told reporters on a conference call, "If Maduro and his cronies choose to respond with violence — if they choose to harm any of the national assembly members or any of the other duly legitimate officials of the government of Venezuela — all options are on the table for the United States in regards to actions to be taken."

Earlier, the chief of the Organisation of American States, which includes 35 countries from both North and South America, also recognised Guaido as the Venezuelan president. The leaders of Colombia, Paraguay, Peru and Brazil have also recognised Guaido as Venezuela's legitimate head.

He was placed in witness protection and news reports have stated he is providing information to the US government about Venezuelan officials involved in a high level ring of drug trafficking.

Opposition-owned media in Venezuela claim he gave details accusing Diosdado Cabello (president of Venezuela’s National Assembly and considered one of the most powerful political and military figures in the country) of being a drug-kingpin, but none of that information has been independently verified, nor have any court records or allegations been released, if they exist.

Another explanation for his going into the witness protection program in the US could include his involvement in the assassination of Chavez, possibly done as part of a CIA black op, or maybe even done under the auspices of CIA but carried out by corrupt elements within the Venezuelan government.

There is no question that Leamsy Salazar was collaborating with the US government and betrayed his country. What remains to be seen is what his exact role was. Did he administer the murderous poison to Chavez, or was it one of his partners, such as Captain Velasquez or the nurse/treasurer Claudia?

This elite intelligence unit was charged with expanding covert operations against Chavez and led clandestine missions out of an intelligence fusion center (CIA-DEA-DIA) in Colombia.  Some of the pieces that have been coming together include the discovery of several close aides to Chavez who had private, unobstructed access to him over prolonged periods, who fled the country after his death and are collaborating with the US government.

If he were assassinated by some kind of exposure to high levels of radiation, or otherwise inoculated or infected by a cancer-causing virus, it would have been done by someone with close access to him, whom he trusted.

4.) There was another, lesser-known plot against Chavez discovered in New York City during his visit to the United Nations General Assembly in September 2006. According to information provided by his security services, during standard security reconnaissance of an event where Chavez would address the US public at a local, renowned university, high levels of radiation were detected in the chair where he would have sat.

The radiation was discovered by a Geiger detector, which is a handheld radiation detection device the presidential security used to ensure the President wasn’t in danger of exposure to harmful rays.

In this case, the chair was removed and subsequent tests showed it was emanating unusual amounts of radiation that could have resulted in significant harm to Chavez had it gone undiscovered. COLOMBIA WON'T PROVIDE US WITH BASES NEEDED FOR INVASION IN VENEZUELA

The Colombian government is not going to provide the United States will military bases so that the latter could launch a possible military invasion in Venezuela, the Colombian Defense Ministry told Sputnik.

"No," the Defence Ministry's representative said, answering the question, whether Bogota was going to provide Washington with military bases needed for a possible operation against Caracas.


The Colombian Defence Ministry also said that Colombia is not preparing a military intervention in neighbouring Venezuela.
"The troops will remain at bases, there has been and there is going to be no redeployment of troops," the ministry said on late Friday.

According to the press service, the vessels and aircraft were also not redeployed, while the high alert in the Armed Forces and police is linked to the recent deadly terror attack on a police academy in Bogota.

"Colombia is not staging provocations and will not allow anyone to provoke it, as Defence Minister [Guillermo] Botero has said, and we are conducting such policy toward Venezuela," the ministry added.

Commenting on the news coverage of events in Venezuela, Maduro stated that the dominant global news networks presented a distorted image of him and the state that would serve Washington's interests.


Maduro further stressed that the US diplomats must obey an order to leave Venezuela. The official also stressed that the United States was pursuing imperialistic aims and he was against it, therefore, he has abandoned diplomatic ties with Washington. However, he highlighted that other relations with the United States, including trade, will 'continue to flourish.' Moreover, he said that Caracas will continue to sell oil to the United States if Washington continues to buy it.

"We will continue to sell everything we are selling. If they [the US] buy potatoes from us — we will sell them, if they buy onions — we will sell them… If they buy oil — we will sell it. But if they don't buy, then we will sell it to others," Maduro told a press conference.

Maduro's press conference comes after on 23 January, Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido declared himself the interim president of the country. His claims for the presidency was supported by around a dozen countries, including the US.

In Perkins’ time, these adventures were hidden, because they are illegal.

The first surprise here is the open and flagrant manner in which this coup d’état is proceeding, as if it is a great accomplishment. The Regime Changers are proud and beating their chests like gorillas with their illegal action as if the accomplishment is already in the bag. But is it? Despite Venezuela being a socially divided country between poor and rich, I believe there has been enough knowledge transfer to the ordinary Venezuelan so that this time, the Regime Change is not yet ‘in the bag’.

The second surprise was the sheer theatrical component of this attempted coup d’état, and the script and the technology of regime change is openly visible. The ones that are supporting the coup d’état, acted in concert, as a bunch of bullies would, with each part nicely scripted down to the 5 minutes. This will become clearer as we continue.

The third surprise is that in the UNSC meeting yesterday (Saturday, January 26) there probably has never been a more thorough listing of regime-change operations in Latin America. This was listed both by the Russian Representative and the Venezuelan Foreign Minister. This history is now clear and public, for all to see.

So, what happened in Venezuela this past week and why now? Why is it so urgent that over 70 Experts immediately called for the US to Stop Interfering in Venezuela and what prompted, for example, Peter Koenig to immediately broadcast this appeal? Venezuela – An Appeal to Russia, China and all Unaligned Countries for Support of Sovereign Venezuela

Let’s look at the timeline, then some editorial comment and lastly we look at who stands in the proverbial corner as allies with Venezuela and possible outcomes.

This week, Vice President Mike Pence of the USA called on the people of Venezuela to take to the streets against their elected government and called for the security forces of Venezuela to back this barefaced regime change called for by the US. He even prepared this video addressing the People of Venezuela, replete with badly accented Spanish assuring the People of Venezuela that “we [the US] are with you.” ‘Estamos con ustedes’ in a fake accent that makes the language of Spanish blush! He even had the temerity to use the term “Libertad” after years of brutal US imposed sanctions and various attempts at regime change over many years in Venezuela. Then, he ends with a distinctly pecksniffian ‘Vaya con Dios’, i.e, ‘Go with God’, he tells the Venezuelans. Besides the fact that this phrase is not even used in common Latin American speech and belongs to the genre of bad old 1950’s soap operas, it is truly the only piece that I agreed with. The Venezuelans will be much better placed to ‘Go with God’ than to ‘Go with Pence’.

The very next day, in what later turned out to be a paid leader of one of the smaller opposition groups, a certain Juan Guaidó holds an opposition rally in Caracas and declares himself “interim president of Venezuela” while denouncing incumbent Nicolas Maduro as “usurper.” This was just after a phonecall with Pence.

Literally, just a few minutes later, the script runs and US President Trump by Tweet pronounced Guaidó as the legitimate interim president. Within about half an hour, more scripting as Canada follows suit as well as several right-wing South American governments allied with Washington. These declarations were written down in formulaic form, and the similarity of the words and the denouncements is clear.

This prompted Paul Craig Roberts to quip: Washington Has Appointed A President For Venezuela (https://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2019/01/23/washington-has-appointed-a-president-for-venezuela/). He soon followed up with this piece “The Exceptional Nation Asserts Its Exceptionalism” and he asks:

“How long will other powers tolerate Washington’s illegality and aggression? How long will Americans tolerate the shame that Washington heaps upon their shoulders?”

In a display of brass effrontery and audacity, French President Macron announces that he supports “the restoration of democracy” in Venezuela and salutes “the courage of the hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans marching for their freedom”, while in his own country he deploys riot police against the gilets jaunes (yellow vests).

Can you see that this coup d’état was planned on a tight timeline with the focus on quickly gathering enough world leaders to support it? The group that was pulled together for the coup planning is named the Lima Group. This group does not have formal standing and may have been fabricated for the distinct purpose of coup planning. They are now quoted as if they have gravitas.

Saturday January 27th, just before the UNSC met to discuss this, we have almost identical threats from France, Germany & Spain issued almost at the same time, to recognize Venezuela’s self-appointed president. The Venezuelan envoy to the UN quite rightly mentioned that the speeches in the UNSC sounds scripted and they are. In circumstances like these, we always get the embarrassing faux pas. The British representative told with relish how Maduro won the previous election (May last year) by stuffing ballot boxes. Well, Venezuela does not use ballot boxes. (Would it be sporting to call him ‘Qué idiota!‘? Let’s not be so rude and stick to ‘La marioneta‘ for now).

So, the next step back in Venezuela on Thursday, was that President Maduro announces cutting off diplomatic ties with the US and orders American diplomats to leave Venezuela within 72 hours. This has subsequently changed to something that is not clear at the time of writing.

And here is the fairytale theater: US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says that since Maduro is no longer the legitimate president he has no authority to sever diplomatic ties with Washington and Trump and Pompeo threaten that “all options are on the table” – meaning military action – “if US personnel are endangered.” Wait a moment, let’s parse this down. First, they say Maduro is no longer President. Second, despite being no longer President, they hold him accountable for acts of violence against protestors? So, mob protestors can run free and create mayhem, because Maduro is in any event responsible? Truly Alice-in-Wonderland ‘off with her head’ methodology.

The situation is prime for an escalation. The main demand from the Western stooges seems to be new elections within 8 days and the West will ‘pave the way for a brighter future for Venezuela’. One cannot help but ask where they were up to now? And, what about those years of sanctions? And what about the engineered scarcity by multinational organizations of basic household goods because there are price controls in Venezuela to avoid excessive profiteering and gouging?

Why now?

It certainly seems that Russia’s more visible alliance with Caracas may have triggered the timing for this coup. Last month, Maduro visited Vladimir Putin in Moskow, and they signed multi-billion-dollar partnerships for oil exploration, mining, agricultural and other trade ties.

Within days of Maduro’s visit to the Kremlin, two Russian Tupolev Tu-160 nuclear-capable bombers flew 10,000 kilometers to Venezuela in a political (certainly not a military) show of Moscow’s support for Venezuela.


Washington’s reaction to the Russian bombers landing in Caracas was one of rage, indignation and sheer apoplexy.

All of John Perkins’ financial warfare techniques are being employed, as well as a few new ones. The one is called lawfare where local laws and constitutions are twisted to the extent that the underpinnings of the legal basis that a country functions within, is reduced to shreds. We saw this technique used to good effect in Brazil in April 2016, with the impeachment of Dilma Rousseff and the jailing of Lula da Silva.

All however is not rolling out as the Coup Planners figured and the scripted theater is obvious.

– Take a look at the meeting of the OAS (The Organization of American States), where the first proclamation in the constitution of this body is that American countries will not interfere internally in the affairs of one another. At this body, Pompeo tried to get other countries to knuckle under and agree with the US power grab. He failed. (I’m sure what helped him fail, is that he could not even pronounce the name of the Interim Puppet President that the US tried to elect. The beloved and oh so competent Gweedo indeed! – The Coup Planners also failed in getting the Venezuelan people to revolt, to get the Venezuelan military to revolt and to overthrow Maduro, which was the plan.

– The last two days in Venezuela were calm days after a fiery speech by Maduro that Venezuelan’s do not harm other Venezuelans.

– On Friday, Maduro is still in charge of the palace and Guaido (Gwaido, not Gweedo, but I might change my mind here, he may indeed turn out to be a Gweedo) gave what Venezuelanalysis.com calls duelling speeches. Guaido is still calling on the Venezuela armed forces to rise up against the Government, but his speech was given in a wealthy part of Caracas and he is holding as bait, all the money that will come from the US if the armed forces will rise up. The Venezuelan people inherently do not trust money promises.

– Maduro held a full press conference in Miraflores Palace saying that the US has no say in Venezuelan affairs. Apart from the press, his address was attended by scores of public officials, including ministers and numerous representatives of the armed forces. – At the UNSC on Saturday morning, the Coup Planners again failed to prevail as many countries spoke against the illegality of the Coup. China, Equatorial Guinea, South Africa, Russia, Nicaragua, Cuba, Bolivia, Saint Vicent, the Grenadines, Barbados, and Suriname, were among the countries that expressed their recognition of the legitimate and constitutional Venezuelan government.

It is clear that Venezuela is struggling for existence while living under debilitating sanctions. It is also clear that after the last elections, and with the help of Russia and China, they made progress. But how can one make progress if a coup plotter promises to pay the coup executor with Venezuelan assets that were previously confiscated under a sanctions regime? Also, the country’s gold is being held hostage by Britain.

There are many accusations against Venezuela, and some have merit. One of the legitimate accusations against Venezuela is the level of migration. It is not well known that there is an active program inside Venezuela to bring the migrants home. (Is it really an economic basket case if Venezuelan assets in the West are being held hostage as a result of sanctions?) To the average American that is supporting this overt and barefaced attempt to take over and control another country, you cannot further support the thinking that your current administration is fighting globalism. The appointments mentioned above, the Dream Team, is a team from the Democratic party. What’s all the more inflammatory is the flagrant illegality of Washington’s actions.

The opposition figure whom the White House has anointed as “acting president” but is actually “acting stooge puppet” and the minor congressional body he is backed by inside of Venezuela has been declared in contempt of the constitution by Venezuela’s supreme court. They are carrying out the steps to globalism in front of our very eyes and right now. They could not overthrow Venezuela’s government, so, they are trying to split it by paying US$200,000 to a usurper, that did not even take part in the previous elections, and they paid him to declare himself Interim President. Furthermore, they are offering money, but this money is not new money, it is money that has been taken by seizures, from Venezuela, under sanctions regulations. So, they are offering to pay their imposed President/Stooge/Puppet money that they confiscated to split Venezuela even further.

Why does this Latin American, Caribbean country called Venezuela tug at our heartstrings? Is it because despite all headwinds, all previous attempts at fomenting revolution and fomenting regime change, they stood strong against the globalists and neocons? I would suggest it is. I would suggest Venezuela is in the mold of Syria who has been fighting a war for their own self-determination for years now. I would suggest Venezuela is in the mold of Russia, that is grimly holding on to their own self-determination and building. I would suggest that the people of Venezuela will not tumble as this regime change further unfolds. They have not tumbled up to now.

Which Venezuelans do you care about? More than 50% of the country is Mestizo. What is your problem if these social people want some form of socialism? What if they feel that income from Venezuelan Oil is to be used to increase living standards for the whole country and the poor? What about their type of Socialism? Do you really believe that Maduro is similar to Sadam Hussein as he is now being represented by the Coup Planners and he is killing and incarcerating his own people at a tremendous rate? Have you not heard this type of accusation before, usually to drum up pretext and de-legitimize a victim for a war? Let the Venezuelan people vote out Maduro if they do not like him. In reality, they do like him. Do you really think that Brazilians will act as a proxy military force to destabilize Venezuela? Will Colombia provide soldiers for feet on the ground in Venezuela?

Let’s take a look at some young Venezuelans and their grasp of what is happening.

Despite what Governments say, there is a real understanding at grassroots level among the Latin American people that what can happen to Venezuela today, can happen to them tomorrow. Living in a Latin American country, I heard this being expressed a few times during the course of yesterday alone. “Hoy Venezuela, mañana nosotros”. Today Venezuela, tomorrow it will be our turn. So, despite the right leaning governments in Latin America, it is fair to say that the people know what the real deal is.

The hegemon is calmly walking into a constitutional crisis or a war or a civil war in Venezuela that may eventually look like Moscow, Black October 1993. Today Venezuela may be an economically failed state, but with good support and guidance from Russia, China and their other friends, they can still get out of this. In terms of the strength of their people, there is no failure.

Let’s take a look at the larger allies of Venezuela.

First we have Russia. President Putin spoke to Maduro and gave him real solid help and support.

Always muted with nuanced language, China has made investment in Venezuela and they buy Venezuelan oil. China will not just sit back here, but it is hard to see what they will do – probably some asymmetrical action. Bear in mind that there are more trade talks scheduled for the coming week and a supposed 2nd meeting with Kim JongUn of North Korea. I would expect nuanced action from China.

India

So, if we count Russia, China, India and Mexico alone, we are looking at 4 countries that are on the list of having the highest populations in the world.

I would certainly say it is a sizable opposition to the attempted Coup Planners.

So, what can we theorize could be the expected outcomes?

None of us has a crystal ball and it is too early to say.

I would suggest that this phase of the attempted coup itself will fail, although the damage to the country of Venezuela, its people and its existence will be vast. The coup will fail because it is hamfisted and with the expectation of a ‘quick win’, there is no plan B that does not include the option of violence. The Coup Planners expected immediate victory but this was not to be. If history is a guide, the Coup Planners will double down, and double down yet again. In the past, a coup like this would be hidden because it is illegal. This one is out in the open; it cannot be argued and the coup planners engage in chest beating and a clear strategy, although not very well executed. Venezuela and its friends must prepare for a long siege.

It is clear that the situation on the ground is not understood by the Coup Planners. The real sense of hamfisted Spanish in Pence’s video, the defeat at the OAS, The Caricom announcement, the inability to pronounce the name of the new supposed interim leader by Pompeo and such other things is not falling on deaf ears in the Latin American population. The will of the Venezuelan people and their demonstrated abilities to withstand regime change cannot be underestimated. Venezuelans are well experienced about withstanding coups, as they’ve lived through a number of them.

The proposed Interim Puppet President Gweedo is clearly not of the strength to push through a coup as he is mainly in hiding. Venezuela is not bursting out into violence. The military and defense forces stand with Maduro. This is a principled and strong position but, one must bear in mind, against a strong enemy.

Despite the various governments in Latin America that became right leaning and had their governments appointed by the Hegemon, the people in Latin America understand where their opposition comes from. I cannot see Brazil or Colombia sending troops on the ground. The Venezuelan right is not united. American troops? Trump will most probably lose his base. I cannot see this.

The most scary scenario (very unlikely at present) would be that NATO Troops may be called in via Colombia.

The most probable outcome is that we see a protracted doubling down from the Coup Planners and a long period of just continued hammering at Venezuela on all levels. She will need all her allies firmly in her corner.

We wait to see if anyone raises a word against this illegal attempted coup and the Coup Planners in the United Nations Security Council.

Judging from the comments in the UNSC just yesterday, we may see the Monroe Doctrine being seriously challenged.

The brilliant but casual speech by the Venezuelan representative (Arreaza) Saturday morning at the UN makes good listening. Some excerpts:
“The United States is the one that should be evaluated (and not Venezuela) for its permanent disrespect and interference in external political affairs.”

“How is it possible that the president of the United States, Donald Trump, who militarily threatened Venezuela, has not been questioned by the world?”

“How can it be possible for a lawmaker to proclaim himself president and for international governments to recognize him?”

“Force is being imposed on the law. That is dangerous and we must stop it here from the United Nations.”

France, Britain and the United States sing the very same story, each of them calling for a self-proclaimed President if elections do not take place within 8 days.

Cuba, whose representative sought the floor for a 2nd time clearly called out Pompeo’s lies but he had left already and was not there so that she could do it to his face. She had clear facts to back up her statements, as well as highlighting the unrelenting economic and trade war against Venezuela that curtail the opportunity for the Venezuelan people to seek out their own opportunity for themselves and to undermine social cohesion. She said that the US must clarify what responsibility they are willing to bear if their current actions provoke instability in the entire region. She called the US attempts an undignified assault on truth and indicative of the lack of respect that Pompeo’s government displays to the United Nations and people everywhere. Venezuela will never be anyone’s satellite or lackey. The return to the Monroe doctrine, the bullying has the aim of looting, pillaging and stripping the oil reserves of that nation. REGIME CHANGE IN VENEZUELA: ARMY DEFECTORS, RUSSIAN MERCENARIES AND DISAPPEARING GOLD

Over the past few days, the intensity of anti-government protests in Venezuela has declined despite attempts of the US-led bloc to warm them up through both public and clandestine measures. However, the conflict continues to develop amid the acute standoff in the media sphere between the Maduro government and its opponents backed by the US-led bloc.

On January 29, CNN released an interview with two “Venezuelan army defectors” who appealed to US President Donald Trump to arm them to defend “freedom” in Venezuela. They claimed to be in contact with hundreds of willing defectors via WhatsApp groups and called on Venezuelan soldiers to revolt against the government of President Nicolas Maduro.

“As Venezuelan soldiers, we are making a request to the US to support us, in logistical terms, with communication, with weapons, so we can realize Venezuelan freedom,” one of the alleged defectors, Guillen Martinez, told CNN. Another one, Hidalgo Azuaje, added: “We’re not saying that we need only US support, but also Brazil, Colombia, Peru, all brother countries, that are against this dictatorship.”

During the entire clip, these persons were presented in a manner alleging that they had just recently defected and are now calling on others to follow their step. However, therein lies the problem. The badges on their uniform say FAN – Fuerza Armada Nacionales. This is an outdated pattern, which has been dropped. Now, Venezuela’s service members have a different badge – FANB, which means Fuerza Armada Nacional Bolivariana. So, either the “Venezuelan army defectors” somehow lost the letter B from their uniform, or the entire interview is a staged show involving former Venezuelan service members, who have been living for a long time outside the country, or in the worst case – actors.

The interview came amid increasing US political, media and sanction pressure on the Maduro government. White House National Security Adviser John Bolton was even spotted with a mysterious note about the deployment of 5,000 US troops to Colombia, the US ally which borders Venezuela. In this situation, a large-scale military uprising or at least formation of some opposition within the army would become a useful tool in a wider effort to overthrow the country’s government. On the other hand, the use of such CNN-styled content shows that so far the US and its proxies have achieved little success in buying the support of Venezuelan service members.

On January 29, Venezuelan lawmaker Jose Guerra claimed via Twitter that a Boeing 777 of Russia’s Nordwind Airlines landed in Caracas on January 28 to spirit away 20 tons of gold bars, worth some $840 million, from the country’s central bank. When asked how he knew this, Guerra provided no evidence. By January 30, these items of breaking news had rocked the headlines of most of the mainstream media.

Another version, which was also quite popular among pro-opposition media, is that the plane, which reportedly made the trip directly from Moscow, moved in a group of Russian private military contractors to support the Maduro government. This version is fueled by reports claiming up to 400 Kremlin-linked private military contractors may have arrived in Venezuela.

The developing crisis is also accompanied by the growth of citizen journalism. Bellingcat members already created a Twitter page named “In Venezuela”, which provides field news about the crisis from Toronto, Canada. It’s easy to expect some “open source intelligence investigations” revealing crimes of the Maduro government against peaceful protesters very soon if the conflict escalates further.

Roughly speaking, the mainstream media presents the audience with the following story: The Maduro government is about to fall and is already moving the country’s gold reserves somewhere via Russian planes. At the same time, Vladimir Putin sent his mercenaries to rescue Maduro and to keep the corrupt regime in power in order to secure Russia’s economic and political interests. This, as well as the oppressive nature of the regime, are the only reason why the forces of good have not yet achieved victory.

Fortunately, there is the shining knight of democracy, Juan Guaido, who was democratically appointed as the Interim President of Venezuela from Washington. He, his Free Venezuelan Army consisting of hundreds of WhatsApp defectors and a group of unbiased US/NATO-funded citizen journalists and investigators are ready to stand against the Maduro-Putin alliance and to defend freedom and democracy in Venezuela… with a bit of help from the Trump administration for sure.

There are no doubts that modern Venezuela is allied with Russia and Moscow will employ its existing influence to resolve the crisis and thus defend its investments and oil assets. Furthermore, Maduro and his supporters showed that they are not going to give in to the US-led pressure. At the same time, The level of MSM hysteria, including an open disinformation campaign against the Maduro government and attempts to demonize it through various means, including its ties with Moscow, show that the Washington establishment is serious in its regime change efforts and may even be ready to instigate a Syria-style “proxy war” in the country in order to achieve own goals.

THE MINISTER OF DEFENSE OF VENEZUELA REJECTS TRUMP’S BLACKMAIL AGAINST HIS COUNTRY

For ooduarere.com – a translation collaboration between Deena Stryker and our own amarynth with Deena doing the first rough translation and amarynth doing the subsequent heavy lifting. While this is a quick translation in the interests of time, and not word for word, it represents fairly the content and the context of the Defense Minister’s rejection. This was an excellent speech and we did not do it full justice in translation, as it was felt that after Mr Trump’s speech, to get this out fairly accurately and quickly was more important than fine adjustments. Comments on Trump’s Florida Venezuela Speech

We’ve been aware of all the threats against us, and have presented our military plans, within the limits of the law, always respecting the Venezuelan people, taking into account our constitution. Yesterday we observed and heard a speech by Trump in Florida. We are astonished by the arrogant, bullying tone of this speech, against our laws and institutions. which approved of terrorists in our country, specifically a personality who engaged in acts of visible terrorism, who commandeered a helicopter from the body of State Security and opened fire on kindergardens, (infantile installations) and robbed arms.

They (the US) see socialism as their main enemy and believe that the whole world thinks the same way, pretending that the world thinks in this unique way. There is no debate of ideas, there is no discussion, there is no dialectic, only their own single belief which they want to impose on the world through force, domination and coercion – on the world and the planet.

Here in Venezuela, we have a constitution (which you ignore), which states political pluralism, not elitism. It is the theory of participation of the diverse and various forces that make up political power and the constitution states the mechanisms to be used.

Furthermore Trump talks about supposed humanitarian assistance, but puts that aside to create a public opinion internationally against the people of Venezuela as well as that our armed forces will confront the people of Venezuela. This is a string of lies and manipulations which are a psychological propaganda campaign against Venezuela to gain political power. The most serious issue that we have seen is that Trump gives himself the possibility of commanding the Venezuelan armed forces and institutions, giving them orders. This is insolent. His advisors need to educate him or give him a roadmap. One has to be of Venezuelan birth before you can give orders to Venezuelan military forces. You have to born on this land. You have to be of our blood and born a national and then make your career in politics in Venezuela. You of course have to be elected and get a majority of votes. After you gain the majority of votes, the people will have freely expressed their voluntary willingness. Indirect elections occur in the United States. In Venezuela, we have direct elections according to the procedures of National Electoral Council.

Mr Trump, to boast of giving orders to the National Bolivarian armed force, you have to follow this roadmap and it is preferable to tell the world that the campaign against Venezuela is not the string of manipulations and psychological campaign that you undertook but all the effort is to obtain the political power in Venezuela. That is the reality.

About Venezuela

We had elections. We elected President Maduro. After making him president with the strength of the popular vote, the military of Venezuela recognises President Maduro as the Commander in Chief.

This recognition is derived from the people and is the will of the Venezuelan people. We have a President and Commander in Chief, in the person of Nicholás Maduro. By the same token we say to those who claim to be Presidents here in Venezuela, that this is how you do it and any other way will not be able to penetrate the patriotic spirit of the men and women of the armed forces.

The country is calm, the government is working, civil, civilian, and Bolivariano. The people are working, forging their own happiness. There is a government that is fulfilling its constitutional functions, there is national armed forces today more than ever conscious of their military duties to the citizens. There is a civil consciousness in the armed forces, profoundly democratic and deeply Bolivarian. It is important to let our country know that the world knows what the role of our armed forces is. The armed forces are in the center of the debate and in the center of the seriousness. Trump’s intention is to break this unity of the armed forces and to offend the armed forces because when a president of another country comes to pretend to give orders to the armed forces, they are underestimating and disrespecting the consequences. It is extreme disrespect to ask our armed forces to put themselves outside of the law of our constitution and institutions. This would be totally aberrant behavior.

About Colombia – a subtle reminder that there is a joint responsibility for peace in the region

For example, for the Colombian president to call on our armed forces, shows his ignorance of our history. To call on the Colombian army would be a lack of respect toward them, they have to do their job of preserving peace in Columbia. Listen to the President of Colombia. He makes a call to our armed forces as a Minster of popular power for the defense of the people, and gives order to the Colombian armed forces, who do not know who their commander in chief is and who obey the paramilitary groups of Álvaro Uribe or align themselves with guerrilla groups of an organization with a different political policy.

We will not get involved in this. We are respectful of the internal issues of states. Each state has their government and corresponding legal mechanisms with the responsibility to carry out the corresponding processes as defined by the legal mechanisms in their mandate. For example if I had to call on our brothers in the Colombian armed forces, it would be a lack of respect for the military forces of the Republic of Colombia. It would be an underestimation of our compañeros in the Colombian military who are called to play the role of preserving peace in the region, a responsibility which we both have, towards the Latin Americans and the Caribeños.

Maintaining peace is our responsibility. But if we have to, we can reverse that against any nation or government that in this moment seeks to attack us with their false diplomacy and their actions outside international law against our people and our homeland. We in the armed forces have a resilient character, a strong patriotism, we are Bolivarian and have always been anti-imperialist, since we were born. This is not momentary, it is historical. It is inherent since the creation of the armed forces as a liberating army in our country.

Back to the issue and the role of the Venezuelan Defense Forces

They will not be able to use their pretenses, with their methods of coercion, blackmail, manipulation of sanctions and offers of amnesty to our leaders. If there is one thing that characterizes us, and this is known by the world, it is dignity. We fly the flag with national dignity. They will not be able to win with tricks on our dignity. They can sanction us but will not succeed. We will hear them, but we remain with our country. This is a political, even personal attack on Venezuela. If there is no respect for the nation, its laws and authorities, it is a jungle.

The attempt of coup is increasing and has placed the armed forces in the center of the debate. We observe in yesterday’s speech an act of extreme arrogance and terrible folly on the part of the President of the United States. Donald Trump referred to our country in a tone and in the content of his declarations we see a very dangerous attitude of one who wants to direct the actions of a military power that with their limitless imperial desire is orchestrating an interventionist plan against our nation. It is imperative to reiterate to the world that we are in the presence of an escalation of a hybrid war to suffocate our economy with economic and financial sanctions to generate chaos and anarchy. Know well that their true purpose is none other than to appropriate the wealth of the nation. It is unusual to flagrantly violate the norms of international law by imparting orders to the Venezuelan military, promoting and encouraging confrontation with our compañeros and co-nationales under the pretext of humanitarian help. Any attempt to change government must follow our rules and must happen according to our roadmap. We will defend our nation, and I am certain will win.

Here is a perfect example of what happened to Venezuela
Venezuela was actually a fairly wealthy country up until a few years ago. Here's how they got wiped out:

Let's create a fictional town with a population of 10,000 in Montana, that is tucked away 150 miles East North East of Igbo lake, on the Canadian border somewhere and there are no other towns or gas stations within 200 miles (by road). Canada has no roads going down to that fictional town. This fictional town has it's entire income based in tar sand oil.

Some rich puke decides he wants the tar sand oil, because the deposit is amazing. He does not want people in the way of him taking it.

The town is supported by IGA grocers. It is not big enough for a Wal-Mart, so IGA does it all. There are no other providers of food, it all comes in via IGA.

For some reason, Shell Oil has all the gas stations in town. And the rich guy can influence Shell Oil strongly. He also has enough stock in IGA to have a say in what they do.

The entire town is fed by power and communications that come in over lines that are exclusively theirs for an entire 65 mile stretch.

Here's how "RICH DUDE" gets their tar sand oil (this is PRECISELY what happened to Venezuela)

First he creates a gas crisis by stopping all gasoline trucks to the town for a couple weeks. People don't panic, because they have power, and IGA still has food. They are annoyed, but not afraid because the town is small enough for everyone to walk to everything they need while they crack jokes about saving money and getting into shape. Rich guy waits until the last SUV is parked, waiting for gas. No one can leave town.

Then, rich dude cuts all shipments by IGA, because he can exert enough pressure on the supply chain to shut it down. Anyone who sees anything fishy with this is called an idiot or a conspiracy theorist because "no one would do that". There is no run on groceries (at first) because people were not told there would soon be none.

Right when people start figuring out there won't be more groceries, create an accident on the power and communications line (an avalanche will do) and cut their power and communications.

No one has gas to get out of town with and notify anyone of the emergency, no one can communicate because the line is gone, power is out, and food is running out.

Rich guy then shows up, blames the mayor for the problem, and offers "aid" and "help" in exchange for X, and then the tar sands are his. Everyone now works for rich guy, who "saved them" from the evil mayor, and "corrupt city government" that "caused the problem to begin with."

That's how it is done folks, Venezuela was doing OK until the international community screwed them over their oil, the EXACT SAME WAY.
