The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, gubernatorial candidate in Kano State, Abba K. Yusuf, will participate in the March 9 governorship election, following stay of execution order for a judgement delivered by a lower court.

On Monday, Justice Lewis Allagoa of the Federal High Court, Kano ruled that the PDP did not conduct governorship primary election in the state.

While delivering judgement, the Appeal Court sitting in Kaduna presided by Justice Daniel O. Kalio granted all the prayers put forward by the appellant.
The PDP sought a stay of execution on the previous judgement passed by a Federal High Court in Kano on the validity of the party’s October 2nd primaries.

The Appeal Court also restrained INEC from removing the name of Mr Yusuf and other PDP candidates from the list of 2019 contestants.

Responding shortly after the verdict, Mr Yusuf said he was not surprised with the outcome from the Appeal Court.

“As I always mention, the case mainly concerns our party and an aggrieved member who is working with the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, in the state to remedy the fast-growing unpopularity of Gov Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, took the matter to court,” Mr Yusuf was quoted as saying so In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa.

The governorship candidate, therefore, called on his supporters and PDP faithful to keep their hope alive and come out en masse to vote for all the PDP candidates.

A PDP gubernatorial aspirant, Ali Amin-little, had approached the court, challenging the process that led to the emergence of Mr Yusuf as PDP gubernatorial candidate in Kano.

Recall that on October 2, Mr Yusuf, a son-in-law to former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, emerged winner of the PDP primaries after polling 2,421 votes to defeat his distant second, Jaafar Sani-Bello, who got 1,258 votes.

First a 2 federal high courts can't have 2 different vedit on 1 case
Secondly only a higher court can over turn a lower court
So how is it a court in Kaduna over turn a judgment of a federal high court in kano.
My people it's only a federal high court, federal court of appeal and Federal high court in Abuja that can overturn an pre election case and an election tribunal FCT that overture post election case.

As a serving corps member in Kano and having inteview many kano indigenes about their choice candidate,I think Gandollor does not even ve 10% chance of winning Abba K. Yusuf of PdP.Kwankwansor is a strong force to reckon with in Kano,they love him so much.

Dude couldnt even win his polling unit, ward , lga for Atiku after giving him 1 billion naira for his red cap movement. Infact he couldnt even win 1 lga for Atiku and u are saying that he is a force to reckon with .
