To the item in question, if there was a crack on it and it wasn't advertised as such, the deal finder and end user should reach a compromise so neither party bears the entire loss. A good number of Samsung phones are sold with cracks and with a screen guard the phone in question would look even better....it can be sold still.

There's risk to this business and this risk cuts across board...not acknowledging this risk will either be a case of ignorance or selective blindness.

oga the moment you have advertised a deal as picked up by a picker and in good condition, you are bound by your words. It is different from where it a hunter to picker deal directly. The deal seller makes profit from selling the deal to a 3rd party and thus should take the blame when the deal goes wrong. He has had the opportunity of ascertaining the condition of the phone from the picker in full b4 advertising so please take note.

So y'all remember all the backlogs of items that landed last month yeah? So i had about 12-13 iPhones and most were already sold as DEAL ALERTS. Now it was discovered that an iPhone 7 was missing, i reached out to Omic who received my items and he confirmed it, then i told Lionlee who agreed to replace the phone or refund me. I told the buyer about the situation and he said he would appreciate a refund and i communicated to Lionlee. Of which i got to know that lotta items were missing and pickers (LionLee/Daaz) were refunding people so i told Lionlee to send 70k out of 79k paid by buyer, i added the remaining 9k (Note that i bought the phone for 75k, so thats 4k loss for me if you do the maths well).

From the same shipment, Nymphomaniac picked up his items and one iPhone 7 plus was not as described or lets say the item was different from the picture lionlee sent to me. It was obvious the item must have been mixed up either from LionLee in Chicago or from Sene in Ibadan which was very glaring to Nympho himself cos i sent him the pictures Lionlee sent me. Nympho asked me what we should do? I told him to check for an engineer who can solve the issue, fortunately it was casing (scratches and dents at the edges). At the end of the day, he told me it would cost 9k to fix and said i should send whatever i have, i sent him 4500 (50-50). Till now, i didnt even tell Lionlee216 because i felt its something i can handle/help with, he'd just be reading it here now.

In conclusion, this pick up business is 50/50 either as buyer or seller. Deal Hunters dont make almighty profit like most people think, let us all be our brothers keepers and help one another, it might be your turn tomorrow. Thats why even in the law court, there's out of court settlement/plea bargain aka soft landing.

Bro I understand your point but in truth, there's only so much a deal finder can know about an item not with him physically and if you choose to buy the item while in transit and not demand any form of insurance then you should take some responsibility when issues arise.

You sold a faulty laptop to me. The laptop in question is has a faulty battery (which isn’t the major concern), my major concern is the VGA issue the laptop has.

You posted a deal which I showed interest in, a MacBook Pro. I asked if there were any issues, you assured me you’d done your homework and all that sweet little nonsense which I fell for. On getting the laptop, I noticed the laptop didn’t power on and when it did, it tripped off on its own which immediately I knew wasn’t a good sign. I called you to let you know and you assured me there wasn’t any issue and that I should be patient.

I also called to let you know the laptop had a password which we sorted out almost immediately. Going forward, I noticed a quick drop in the battery’s charge during usage which wasn’t an issue to me as it’s an easy fix. My headache started when the laptop started tripping off in the presence of my buyer. I was so embarrassed. I powered off the laptop and took it to two apple laptop professionals at computer village, guys I’ve known for almost 10 years and they confirmed that it’s a VGA issue and it has no fix.

I messaged you about this when you posted two IPhone 8 deals which I bought off you but you just waved it off saying it was another transaction. I had been busy since then so I didn’t really have time for the laptop. I messaged you this evening about the laptop’s malfunction and a way forward and you sent a voice note cursing at me telling me I’m spewing rubbish. You were bragging, telling me phone biz isn’t the only thing you do and all of that.

That we’re all on NL trying to make crumbs off OfferUp doesn’t mean we don’t have day jobs you know? If I give you Mr ChisomK9 a full disclosure of who I am, I’m sure you’ll drop this your act but to what end? I paid 167k for this laptop and as a business man, I intended to make profit off of it but right now, the laptop is completely useless to me. It’s just there lying on my table gathering dust. Right now, I’m at a complete loss.

Guys, guys, guys. Y'all need to chilax and not let this escalate. Let me weight in on my observations. I believe everyone in this web of business needs to have a basic understanding of their role. The absence of that understanding is what's causing all these conflict. Here's what I think.

@ ChisomK9, firstly, I'm totally disappointed as to how you're willing to destroy your business relationship / reputation and friendship over an issue that is otherwise trivial. Your refusal to refund @GBOLAHAN like he requested in my opinion indicates you don't have class. Even though you're right in calling out @Daaz001, you should never have made your refund dependent on Daaz's decision. The classy thing to do would've been to refund Gbolahan then tackle the pickers on your own. That no doubt would've won you the support and respect of everyone. I just see too much needless ego on display in your responses and action.

@ Daaz001, I believe it's totally wrong for a picker to refuse any form of responsibility for a defective good. If a good lands and is different from what was agreed, the picker is liable to the deal finder. Everyone has to bear some kind of responsibility - the final buyer/end user does that by buying a gadget without any guarantee beyond the pickup date, the deal finder does so by being liable to the buyer / end user and the picker as a matter of necessity also has to be liable to the deal finder. Any break in this chain of responsibility is sure to create conflict and that's what we are witnessing. I once collected an 8 plus from the Indianapolis picker and my first glance at the phone, I knew something was wrong with the screen. When I got it checked out, it turns out it's a board problem that'll cost me an arm and leg to fix. Bad market, Na so I take upgrade by force to iPhone 8 plus! What's my point? Without the picker having to be liable for such oversight, what's to make him careful in scrutinizing items before they're picked up? Why should he bother if his attitude is " if I done pick, I done pick "? While it'll be ridiculous to say the picker should refund the deal finder, I believe there should be some form of compensation in terms of reduced pickup / shipping costs to make up for an error that you're LARGELY responsible for.

@ lionlee you've been the star man out here watching everybody's back. Running a business, handling brain wracking logistics and having to time to insert yourself into ego-driven disputes, I doff my hat in respect. However, this is still a business for you, let the attitude be less confrontational and maybe, @ dragnet should be called in when issues threaten to escalate. Regardless of his attitude, ChisomK9 has been a worthy customer that has aided your business and deserves some respect.

Let's all put our respective ego aside and resolve the issues. This conflict may be a blessing in disguise as it'll help everyone define and understand their respective roles. I see a EULA coming out of this lol.

Much ado about nothing and everything .

There’s no neutral side in a war and this seems to be degrading into such , everybody has his or her own interest , reputation or pride to protect .

I am not here to list what some few dealhunters go through in loss, refunds and or replacements due to items gone bad (note most times these faults can’t be detected by picker and it takes years and first hand experience to know such faults exist on a device ) that said physical defects can easily be spotted . Refund is the easy way out no matter the lost incurred in money but replacement is the most honorable way.

To all those who think dealhunters make a killing off this OfferUp thing , think again it’s more about consistency you can make 5k each on 20 deals and you pay a refund or incure a loss of 140k on a bad device but still that shouldn’t make a deal hunter shroud himself of responsibilities and buyers should also always take into consideration that OfferUp has a no return policies .


Henceforth deal hunters should be liable for deals they post .

Full disclosure on items stated and as for pickers , stick to your rule of pay first before proceeding to pick a deal so when you arrive and item is not as described , contact the deal buyer and if deal buyer is not available to see deal through . Fail pickup .

To me I believe laws are required to be followed with no preferences for a community to be orderly . Thanks

I think you missed my point @ the bolded. His being a "worthy customer" isn't about the size of his order or anything. I would've said the same for anyone that you've only shipped in a pen for. I believe the most successful businesses today became successful by treating all clients regardless of status with utmost respect and courtesy. Forget this attitude we have in Nigeria where people are treated according to the size of their pockets. I think once we become dispassionate in our business dealings and realize we aren't doing anyone a favor by being in business, we'll start getting it right. I do however think you're on the right path but need to go - slow just a little bit.

If you've been following this you'd know it didnt even need to get to this at all. Let's not derail further.

I've had my fair share too. Chisomk9 isn't an honest person at all.

First he put up an ad on an IPad pro here and said it had "minor dents", and made it seem like the item hasn't gotten to him. I showed interest and requested for pictures on more than two occasions, which he cleverly ignored.

Based on trust, I decided to pay for the item. But that was my mistake. Long story short, I later realized that the said item has been with him for a while (dont know how long), and hence, he must have had enough time to check the item properly.

Got the item and discovered it had a very big dent. At this point, I already knew I've messed up by not sticking to my rules of seeing pictures of items I wish to pay for.

Yes, I reached out to him concerning this and he was adamant that it was a good deal. Seeing his tone and all that, I just silently moved on and some how sold the item 8k less cost price to an end user.
