The trial of suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Samuel Onnoghen over alleged non-declaration of assets will resume today before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT). Onnoghen at the last sitting pleaded not guilty to the six- count charge filed against him by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB). He was accused of failure to declare his assets between June, 2005 and December, 2016 contrary to provisions of section 15(1) of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act Cap C15 LFN 2004 and punishable under section 23(2) a, b, and c of the same Act. Upon his plea, he was admitted to bail on self-recognizance. Akelicious reports that while his arraignment was initially scheduled for January 14, the suspended CJN did not come to the tribunal. He also did not come to the tribunal on January 22, January 28, February 4 and February 13, which led the tribunal to issue a warrant for his arrest on February 13. However, upon his presence at the tribunal on February 15, his lawyer, Chris Uche (SAN) asked that the bench warrant order be discharged with the defendant having appeared voluntarily without the execution of the bench warrant. Delivering ruling on the application, the tribunal Chairman, Danladi Umar held that “The bench warrant earlier issued, since the defendant made himself available voluntarily without the execution of the bench warrant, the tribunal hereby set aside the warrant on the condition that the defendant must henceforth make himself available throughout the trial.” He subsequently adjourned the matter to March 11 for hearing of all pending applications. https://www.akelicious.net/2019/03/onnoghens-trial-resumes-today.html

Sorry, am not exactly interested in this disguised tyranny. My interest really is, who else hate the "Find Video Here" link we always encounter in Nairaland. Is NL not grown enough to host videos on its own? Or allow embeddable videos from major video sharing site? It's irritating that you see headline 'wife beats husband [video]', then you rush to watch, you then see one stupid link "watch video here" that will take you to a shitty website that takes 7 minutes to load, only to discover it was an Instagram video. Mods, the time u take to delete anti-Jagaban comments, use it to figure out a solution to this. I don't open videos on NL all thanks to this rubbish |

Now he fights. It will be interesting to see how fights for his freedom whilst on the same equal playing field like the common man. No privileges, same fear of uncertainty that justice may be delayed or denied. Wishing him luck |

Didi2d:Lol It's not NLs fault. The posters (mostly bloggers) put the link there instead of the video, in order to drive traffic to their blogs so they make money off you viewing (and mistakenly clicking) adverts. Some YouTube channels (e.g ChannelsTV) even disable their videos from being viewed on other platforms for the same reason. |

Buhari won, the decisions will not favour the suspended CJN. But on a serious note, our judiciary is not independent because majority of the judges are corrupt. This is the main reason why the decision on the acting and suspended CJN were tactically delayed till after election. |

Ijaycool:Bro...those bloggers pay to have their posts appear on FP and then a click on their link drives traffic to their website. That's why the videos can't be hosted on Nairaland except 5eun discovers a way to monetize the option of watching the videos on Nairaland |
