A'Ibom Guber Polls: ATTAH TAKES THE LEAD, CONGRATULATES UDOM EMMANUEL ON VICTORY

Governorship Candidate of the Democratic Alternative (DA) in Akwa Ibom State, Mr Johnson Attah has become the first among the contenders for the plum job to congratulate Governor Udom Emmanuel on his victory at the just concluded polls.

Official announcement by the electoral umpire early hours of Monday indicated that Governor Emmanuel of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored a total of 519,712 while his closest rival, Mr Nsima Ekere of the APC scored 171,978.

Attah in a statement issued in Uyo on Monday, March 11 and obtained by SOUTHERN REPORTERS, said, he was accepting the outcome of the contest as the decision of the people of Akwa Ibom.


He said electoral contests were like sports where winners and losers would always emerge and expressed optimism that the PDP will use the peoples mandate for the good of the entire Akwa Ibomites.

“I heartily congratulate my fellow contender and candidate of the PDP in the just concluded governorship elections in Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Mr Udom Emmanuel on his victory and re-election.

"Indeed, Akwa Ibom have spoken clearly and the outcome must be respected by all the key actors. Your Excellency, today you have won convincingly and I say a big well done to you and your party, the PDP,’’ he said.

The DA governorship candidate used the opportunity to thank the people of Akwa Ibom for their support while the campaigns lasted, saying that he respected their decision at the polls.

He assured that since his ambition was not egocentric, rather to serve the people of Akwa Ibom with sincerity, he will partner the Udom Emmanuel administration in the task of forming a unity government and making life better for all.
