The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will continue with the scheduled supplementary elections in Bauchi state, it was learnt.

INEC noted that the poll slated for this Saturday will hold in areas not affected by the court ruling.

Disclosing this Tuesday, the National Commissioner in charge of Information and Voter Education, Mr. Festus Okoye said the Commission will proceed with supplementary elections on Saturday in relation to areas that are not affected by the Court Order.

Besides, Okoye said that INEC will work towards the expeditious resolution of the Collation process in Tafawa Balewa Local Government.

He said, “The Commission has complied with the Order of the Federal High Court Abuja. The Commission has suspended the Collation of the Governorship Election Result for Tafawa Balewa Local Government.

“The Commission will proceed and complete the Collation of the result of the State Assembly Election for Tafawa Balewa Local Government and make a return.

“The Commission will proceed with supplementary elections on Saturday in relation to areas that are not affected by the Court Order.

“The Commission has a history of obedience to court orders. The Commission will continue to comply with court orders and will take steps to vacate orders where it feels strongly that the Court that gave the order has no jurisdiction.

“The Commission will work towards the expeditious resolution of the Collation process in Tafawa Balewa Local Government.”

Henceforth, elections should no longer be declared inconclusive.

Rather, the tribunals should do the needful where necessary and within a fixed time frame.

I know for sure this news will be refuted by INEC in no distant time

out of about 28 state assembly seats in Bauchi, APC has won 21 while PDP only 5, for an election conducted same day and INEC is telling us that PDP is leading in governorship race. how does it add up , giving the way we vote here. INEC should come out clean

Its not common but there are precedents.there are several cases where a party that wins the governorship wins fewer assembly seats but the gap is usually low and somehow narrow.in plateau in 2015,it was 15-11,benue was 17-13,,kano this year is 26-13.but 25 -5 is a wide margin,it is suspicious and telling.it lends credence to my earlier assertion that the politicsl class in bauchi have conspired to rig out the governor.this plan was hatch in 2015 and spearheaded by dogara.

The new plan of inec is the right step to follow.the remaining rerun will take place in areas where apc is dominant allowing the governor to wipe out the margin and overtake pdp while waiting on the final verdict of the coury on tafawa

Seems you didnt read the post.it is actually over for bala mohammed.inec erred.the overall inec official during the governorship polls in a state is the returning officer.he has the legal power to either declare or cancel results as stated by law.inec at abuja cannot overrule him once he makes a final return.i believe based on this, the court will order a rerun in tafawa

my brother, I share yoir sentiments. I made my realization a month ago.

The politics in Nigeria is as useless as the nation its self. No pattern, no order, just jagajaga.

For the sake of sanity, it is better to stay away from such politics, and if possible, remove yourself and emotions from the country as a whole.
