Probable cause? Na jang we dey abi naija? My advice; legal or not, so long as you have no incriminating items in the vehicle, just let them search and go on your way. These people don't even know those laws and they will harm you and ask questions later. For naija, it's mostly smart to pay the piper.

Wrong! Your car and your apartment falls under'property'. Your property. By law, if they don't have the right to search your property without warrant that would include your car. As much as we despise the feeling of harassment it should be in the back of our minds that they're just doing their jobs. I'm not sure they enjoy it as much as we think they do. During the course of these annoying searches they just might get the bad guys and make the city even safer.

I never said they do or do not have the right to search anybody or their car. What I said is that if they can a search your apartment without warrant then can also search your car without warrant because car and house fall under 'property'. You can't say'they can search your apartment but not your car'.
