You live in Africa right? Where in Africa, do military leaders work with the constitution? Even today, booharry as a civilian leader ignores the stipulations in the constitution. When Ironsi assumed power, Nigeria was in deep crisis, especially the West. Actually the crisis in western Nigeria was the reason for first coup - the lawlessness was "beyond" Balewa's control. Not as though, he couldn't restore peace in the region but, he loved the crisis that was eating up the west. He wanted to punish them in that way for rejecting Akintola's "mandate". Just google search about the crisis that occured in western Nigeria from 1962 up to 1965. Particularly the operation wettie.
Back to the coup. As I said earlier, the high level of nepotism, tribalism and corruption was the cause of the first coup. And, stop saying Igbos disposed a legal government, rather - Nigeria army officers did that. Just told you that about 3 Yoruba army officers were involved while, all the NCOs were from the North. So, tell me how was it the Igbos that disposed a legal government, that was mostly controlled by the Igbos?

You will have to ask your naijo bros that question. The general consensus among all right thinking Nigerians is that a disgruntled bunch of Igbos were at the epicentre of the first coup. You havent proved the contrary. Mentioning several Yorubas and northerners here and there as accomplices doesnt exonerate Igbos. The most shocking part of your post is the claim that the high level of nepotism, tribalism and corruption led to the coup. Since when were Igbos that moral? Igbos have been variously characterized (and quite self-evidently so) as a most amoral people, just next to the Mongols under Genghis, and Satan grin. You mean there's an actual time in the past in the real world when Igbos could call out people on immorality? Thats def news bruh!

And how do you reconcile population with our initial discourse? We were talking about Ironsi not population. BTW, 3M Igbos didn't die rather, 3M Biafrans died. Anyway, direct your question to the Nigeria bureau of statistics. I think the population of the Igbos is underrated, yeah. The population of the Igbos should be close to 60M. The Igbos are capable of taking are of their 4 to 5 kids hence, you don't see them, begging on the streets. I don't think there's a problem if you've 4 kids and, can take care of them. Lastly, You should check what the population of the Igbos was prior to the civil war before, fantasizing about sex. The population of Nigeria before the war was 55M. Today, Hausa/Fulani claim to be above 90M while, Yorubas claim to be 55M - talk about that and, leave the Igbos.

Inevitably one is bound to question Igbo population and how the war impacted it. One would expect a log-kill effect during the war followed by a Gompertzian growth immediately after but you folks are fond of breaking the laws of nature. As untrustworthy as you sound, I trust you more than the Nigerian bureau of statistics. If the pop now is 60 M then we need a new model to explain your nothing-short-of-madness growth rate. According to this research paper, the 1953 census revealed Igbos were 5 million. In 1963 they were 9 million, 1986 15-18 million...it gets vague over time lets end here.

Working with 5 million at time t=0, i.e 1953, and your current impartial estimate of 60 M, we get an annual growth rate of 17 %! Dont forget 3 M ± were later killed, so from the 5 M we could be talking of a low of 6 M as at the 60s, and consequently an even insanely higher growth rate. What the hell dude! I tried using a population tool projector and as soon as I entered the figures it auto-switched to bacteria pop prediction. Your fertility rate is only comparable to bacteria. I'm pretty sure its the same with the Hausa/Fulanis and Yorubas.

Now you're acting like a dumbass. I put the facts down and, you're talking about what an avergae Nigerian thinks. An average Nigerian is a stark illiterate so, why do you believe that what he thinks is supreme? I don't see the relevance of this convo anymore. You're beginning to clutch at straws. I should ask Nigerians why you think the Igbos disposed a legal government? The January 15 coup was generally accepted as a national coup until, the British expatriates in Nigeria began to incite the northerners. The same Ironsi, you tried to antagonize hours ago, as the most senior army officer at that time, mobilized the troops that quelled the so called Igbo coup. But, Nigerians in their usual way, heaped the blames on the Igbos. Heck, some Igbos too lost their lives in that coup.

Major Donatus Okafor was buried alive while, Lt. Col Igboba was beaten to death when the northerners countered. Ironically, the Northern NCOs and Yoruba officers were spared. 250 army officers from the Eastern region lost their lives in the counter coup. Ignorance is one of the many reasons I insist y'all face your dickk contest with Nigerians and, forget about complex matters like this.

Anyway, I'd leave you to it, if you'll continue throwing infantile tantrums. It's on record that Yorubas are the pioneers of crime in Nigeria. All the criminals, who operated in Nigeria in the 70s and 80s were all Yorubas. BTW, crime is not exclusive to any group. But, I think it's logical enough if I corrected your assumptions. Check out the whole crime syndicates in Nigeria in the 70s and 80s, they were all controlled by the Yorubas.

Cos you see a few Igbos in your place doing shyte doesn't mean we all don't belong to a moral society. As for your population rhetorics, ask the Nigerians on here to put you through to the Nigeria bureau of statistics, so you can direct your questions to them. I can't even fathom why that bothers you a lot. Fact is that, the Igbos are more than 60M. And, Majority of the Igbos live above the poverty line so, your exercises are in futility.
Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by SuperIgbo1(m): 3:02am On Mar 28, 2019
TayserMahri,

Igbos had the opportunity to consolidate power and, rule as much as they wanted. And, probably rule over Africa, as Zik predicated, loooooooool. However, many Igbos of the past generations were more pro-nigeria than pro-Igbo hence, it hurts me when I see folks like you, saying the Igbos wanted the country to themselves.

Did you know that General Aguiyi Ironsi had to sit all day in the office with Major Johnson, the administrator for Lagos, a Yoruba to prove that he wasn't holding secret meetings with the Igbos? An Igbo officer, Lt. Col Alexander Madiebo informed him of the impending disasters rather, he threatened to dismiss him from service for rumor mongering. Ironsi put all politicians and tribal leaders from the East in jail while, he spared the northern leaders. He placed the armory in Lagos out of bound for all Igbo officers.

Ironsi as the commander of the army and head of state did nothing in May/June 1966, when northerners massacred 30,000 Easterners - Igbo majority, in response to the promulgation of the decree no. 34. After the massacre, the Easterners fled to their region. Ironsi then, promised and assured them of their safety and, asked them to go back. They believed Ironsi could protect their lives and properties since, he was Igbo just like the majority of them. They returned to the North but, their fantasies were cut short in June, when the northerners struck again and, Ironsi did nothing. Sometimes, I begin to wonder if Ironsi was really Igbo.

While, the civil war was going on and, Biafran kids dying of starvation all day, Zik an Igbo, who probably had an influence to bring the world to see the plights of an average Biafran, sat in London - saying Nigeria should go on as one. No Fulani or Yoruba leader could have done that.

The existing pro-nigeria Igbos should be cut to size. Igbos can't afford more Ironsis and Ziks.

If you're really interested in acquiring knowledge about the events from independence till the end of the Biafran war, I could recommend some books to you.

Nigeria Statistics!!! Totally Absolutely OVERCOOKED. Apparently Lagos has 20M people and only about 1.5M voted - less than voting pop of Nairobi in 2017.

Wow, no I didn’t know he was born in Ghana. Parts of Nigeria and parts of Ghana could have been in the same country if the lines and boundaries where drawn differently by the Europeans. Essentially as Africans we are all the same and are all one. Are the Akan in Ghana and the Akan in Ivory Coast very close in terms of culture? I know Akan makes up a big percentage of the population in both countries
There are akans both in Ghana and ivory coast (called the country cote devoire, that is what the country goverment request to identify with)but they are originally from Ghana

A Princess from Ashanti kingdom name Pokou who later became queen form the lineage of akans in cote devoire. Though , some members of the Ashanti tribe moved and settled in Cote d’Ivoire, where they are now known as the Baoule people and identify themselves as Akan rather than a subgroup of the Ashanti. The Baoule tribe is one of the biggest in cote devoire.
