The cost threshold for excessive demand on health and social services was increased again earlier this year. This makes it even more difficult to fail medicals.

"The annual cost threshold figure for excessive demand on health and social services has been updated. The average Canadian per capita health and social services cost has increased from $6,604 to $6,839, and 3 times that average has been updated from $19,812 to $20,517."

Program update clarifying the legality of dual intent,

"Dual intent is present when a foreign national who has applied or may apply for permanent residence in Canada also applies to enter Canada for a temporary period as a

visitor
student
worker

Having 2 intents (1 for temporary residence and 1 for permanent residence) is legitimate. This section addresses how to apply subsection 22(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) to the decision-making process.

Subsection A22(2) states: “An intention by a foreign national to become a permanent resident does not preclude them from becoming a temporary resident if the officer is satisfied that they will leave Canada by the end of the period authorized for their stay”. Dual intent on the part of the applicant is therefore not prima facie grounds for refusal of temporary resident status.......... "

Decision to Travel: November 2017, after proper analysis of the inherent benefits.

Family composition: 2

POF composition: 25 % from pension fund and 75% fixed deposit

Post AOR:

- Provided reference letter of PA in desired IRCC formats.(no payslip provided)
- Thought it wise to provide reference letter for supporting applicant since majority of funds came from supporting applicant, just for 2 previous jobs though. Reference letter for current job was not included. Also no payslips. Wanted to keep application as simple and straight forward as possible.

A wise woman once told us that there is always something that needs an explanation, hence we included LOE to explain change of name, travel history and police certificate.

A separate LOE was included in the POF placeholder to properly explain composition of funds.

Decision to Travel:
This was late January 2018 when a colleague and friend told me he was dropping his resignation and relocating with his family, I started thinking of my daughter and unborn child and started pondering if Nigeria was the right place to raise them.

I heard about EE for the first time then and decided to try the CRS simulator and found out I’d get 443 because I had two B.Sc’s, This was in February 2018. Decided to pay for IELTS for my spouse and I and wrote the test in April.

IELTS
In as much as I appreciate this thread I’m actually glad I did not know about it until after my IELTS because as at the time of writing I didn’t know I had to max out the scores and if I had known about this thread I’d have been really worried.

I only practiced listening all through, practiced one test for reading and didn’t bother with writing and speaking. I was lucky enough to max out. It was after the test I realized the amount of Favour I had with the test. This was done with BC.

Wifey was heavily pregnant during the test and didn’t even bother practicing at all, it was a difficult pregnancy and she barely made it to the exam and taking it.

ECA
Used WES, didn’t know at the time that there were other evaluation bodies, only knew about BC for IELTS and WESfor ECA.

I was an unserious club boy during my university days so I graduated with a 3rd class after 7 years (A disappointment that later became a blessing) 2 years later I went back for another degree and graduated with a better grade. So with this I had 2 certificates. WES took 4 months because I had to evaluate my diploma, first bsc and second bsc.

Wifey’s bsc was out in about 3 months.

POF
I had some challenges with this because I’m one of those people who earn a lot and spends as much too. I work in an organization where you work hard and play harder.

Wifey had our second child 2 weeks post ITA so POF became higher. Eventually I used my savings, 85% gift deed from my dad, pension and gratuity.

I literally just lumped them all, didn’t put the exchange rate of the day, no breakdown tables nothing. Just loaded them all and decided to let them figure it out. Lol.

I had a scare with my POF because i submitted my 6 months payslip and a few months before, I took a 3m car loan from the office and I had it showing in my payslips, I’m not sure how this was calculated eventually.

JOB REFERENCE
Used the last 3 years in my latest job, Others were in personal history. Didn’t want any complications on this.

It was in CIC format and Newmum0615 helped also with confirming this. (Thank You). I also added my payslips, employment letter and work ID card to this. Pretty straightforward I might say.

MEDICALS
I had my medicals at Children’s practice. Had to take my newborn at 2 weeks old for his passport. This also was eventless. Booked ahead, I was really scared because I didn’t want anything to go wrong. I’m one of those people that gets really worried when I fall sick and start checking google which almost ends up giving myself an unnecessary heartattack.

Well thank God there weee no issues.

PCC
Used one inspector like that, paid 10k for my spouse and I and we were done with this in about an hour.

POST AOR
Shortly after AOR I got promoted at work, hmm I was just looking at them because whether they liked it or not I was going to leave eventually but it was all good though. So I settled into my new role which is pretty tasking and took a whole lot of my time.

I ordered GCMS in February and got it in 11 days, this was a big surprise and when I checked the only thing that was completed was information sharing, criminality was in progress while eligibility and security had not started. I was also shocked to see that the last time my file was touched was in November.

After biometrics I also found out that it never became completed like other, it continued showing my biometrics was nit received bla bla bla even though there was a biometrics number assigned. I raised a CSE and got a confirmation that it had been received so I relaxed.

I also raised a CSE on wifey’s passport because when we submitted she used the one that had her maiden name and we realized it was going to expire sometime in July and we wanted to have enough time to plan after PPR so we got a new passport with my surname and sent a LOE and affidavit with the new passport. This was acknowledged received although it never changed in my profile.

PPR
I used to check my profile once or twice weekly max. So on Sunday I decided to check because the last time I did that was the previous week and I saw that my application/profile was updated. Ran to wifey and told her PPR was coming.

Opened my profile and saw that biometrics had changed to completed. Then, I became a bit worried because I would have preferred to see nothing change and it would then have been defined as a proper ghost update. I started overthinking things like what if the update was just for biometrics and nothing else. Anyway I was a tad hopeful.

Next morning I couldn’t sleep as I was expecting PPR mail but nothing, same with Tuesday. Woke up yesterday and saw the mail sitting pretty in my mail, it had arrived at 12:55am. Funny thing is I had my phone beep but I was of the opinion that PPR mails only came between 4:30am to 5:30am don’t know why.

Well submitted our passports yesterday and a new chapter of our lives is beginning to unfold right in front of our eyes. Lest I forget immediately I saw the mail I look at my children and I smiled and almost cried with the excitement that they wouldn’t grow up in this country.

I want to thank everyone for the selfless contributions to the thread. I gained immensely from them even though I wasn’t able to contribute a lot myself. I read all the threads from part 1 even though I joined in maybe part 3 or 4 not sure anymore.

Thanks a bunch to ARCUGO as he answered my first question on this thread.

As it has ended in praise for me so shall it be for us all.

AMEN!!!!!!

Express Entry Awareness

I got to know about EE mid 2016 via a Facebook comment. I quickly inboxed the commenter and that was how it all begun.
After several correspondence, she told me they used an agent CANREACH and strongly adviced I used them too. I didn’t know anyone else who had gone through EE neither did I know of platforms such as this. I relied solely on whatever info she gave me and called the agent. To cut a long story short, I had the pay the agent over N500,000. After payment, they sent a mail on things I had to do such as IELTS, ECA, PCCs, Medicals and so on. Prior to payment the agent never mentioned it neither did my Facebook contact.

I later realized my Facebook contact was just a dependant spouse who knew next to nothing about what EE actually entails. My contract with the agent was valid for only 2 years and by the time I was finally ready to apply I have become very informed, I didn’t trust the agent anymore (they became lackadaisical plus too many stories of people complaining about agents needing more money and not giving them access to their application) and the 2 years agreement was almost up. To avoid any stories, I decided to handle my application myself. So, that was how I lost over N500,000.

ECA

After I opened an account with WES and paid for transcript, my school said they couldn’t find my file at all shocked. That means they have nothing with which to prepare my transcript. This dragged for months. My contact kept calling me saying she’s trying but my department insists that my file doesn’t exist. My dear mum got tired of it all and decided to travel down to my school herself to enquire how after spending over 5 years doing a 4-year course, going for NYSC and even PGD, her daughter’s entire file suddenly disappeared. Lo and behold, barely 3 days after my mum show face my file was automatically found.
In the end, I got my 2 or more degrees evaluation.

IELTS

I was quite confident in my English ability but still I studied. The resources I used were ieltsliz, ieltsbuddy and futurelearn. I found ieltsliz especially helpful for listening and reading. Futurelearn really helped for writing.

ITA-AOR-Medicals

I declined my first ITA because my passport had less than 6 months validity. I made the mistake of going to Ikoyi for renewal and even paid for express, only to be told there was no booklet.
Second ITA came and I was determined not to decline. I submitted my passport as it was and then raised a CSE after I eventually got the renewed one. 2 weeks later I passed medicals and In my mind I was thinking I go soon get PPR. Little did I know that AVO had other plans for me and that was how the 9 months long wait started.

After months of uncertainty, ordering 2 GCMS notes, raising 3 CSEs, signing several petitions and going through a roller coaster of emotions, AVO finally broke their silence. An interview invite!

Interview

My interview was scheduled to hold 14th February in Accra. I was asked to come with just about everything pertaining to my application. Even the job I got after AOR which I didn’t inform IRCC of, I decided to take my employment letter and payslips along. On the interview day, I intentionally got there few minutes before so I won’t have to wait for long but I didn’t get called in till over an hour later. I submitted my documents at the reception.

The interviewer told me the purpose of the interview was to determine my eligibility. All of my documents were thoroughly checked (I arranged them in an orderly manner using office clips but when I entered the interview room, they were all spread out on a table). It turned out that they needed to be absolutely certain of my marital status and that I understood the implication. I applied as married but life happened and I became separated which I informed IRCC of along with the necessary document. The questions were mostly personal and the interviewer wanted to be sure that POF was still intact.

In the end, I was told that I passed the interview cheesy and I would be issued a remedicals request as the one I applied with already expired. My interviewer also said that due to the peculiarity of my case, a meeting with another colleague (abi their boss) was necessary but that I definitely will be getting an ADR before PPR can be issued.

Immediately I stepped out of the premises I switched on my phone and remedicals request was waiting inbox. For those of us at AVO (especially those who got interviewed), remedicals request is to PPR what John the Baptist is to Jesus. Right there and then I knew all is well. After walking aimlessly for some minutes out of excitement, I took a cab to a Chinese restaurant and gave myself a treat. Mama I’ve made it!

Almighty PPR!

The following day while I was preparing to check out of the hotel, my phone beeped and it was the ADR my interviewer talked about. Few minutes later while I was talking excitedly on the phone about the receipt of ADR, dearest PPR gallantly came in.

I was relieved. I was excited. I was weak. I felt like I was floating. I really can’t describe exactly how I felt.

Remedicals

On getting back to Nigeria, I struggled to get remedicals done. Qlife was booked till April and they couldn’t squeeze me in while IOM said the earliest they could do for me was first week of March. I decided to write to Accra asking for an extension but after all the suffer when I don suffer, I really did not want to extend anything. That was how I came across @Hobyno offering his Qlife slot to someone who was also looking for an early date but fortunately the date was too soon for her grin. I quickly went inbox to beg him for the slot and he graciously agreed.

Once again, THANK YOU @Hobyno.

Two days later, as at 6:04am I was already at Qlife for my medicals. Before 10am I was done and headed straight to VFS for passport submission.

My brethren na so o like joke like joke, my dream turned reality before my very eyes.

My journey was a long and bumpy one but las' las', na God win. grin

so happy for you. Congratulations. I will come to testify too

AMEN!!!!!!

Each time I come in here. I get more confused... I have tried reading from part1. Its so confusing. Well I tried out my crs score and it was a bit low. I have bsc and I was advised to try and add a certification. I want to apply for cipm before evaluating my cert on wes. But this is the catch cipm is in 3 stages. Can I just do stage 1 and evaluate the stage 1 cipm cert with my bsc and the rest. Pls house come to my aid house

Hello house congrats to all the PPR clinchers....May God bless the land for you. Seniors in the house,Pls a friend outside NL asked me a question that is bigger than my knowledge on this journey....She was planning to start this journey with her fiance, but the guy friends in Canada said it's hard to get a good job when one didn't have at least 1 certificate from Canada school and regarding their POF they can't raise for the both of them,Now they both agree to put their wedding plans on hold and let the guy alone go for now....The question now is that is it possible for someone who got a PR visa to come back to Nigeria after 2-3 years to marry the lady legally and go together....How easy is this process and what would you advice pls....Seniors in the house, please help me put mouth Topsmamen,Ifeoma and others..Thanks

Hnmmmm,

I'm scared for that lady... are you sure the guy is still interested? It's just about 800k difference o.

I have a question:

As accompanying spouse can I use my fixed deposit which is 4 months old plus my bank statement and write LOE or Affidavit?

Thanks in advance.
