That should not be the solution. It's not the cashiers fault. You don't know how some customers behave. No one is wiser than the person monitoring him. This one had the intention to steal and had perfected her plans. She may have been planning it for long. Thank God for technology, the cashier would have been wrongly accused of stealing.

as much as you may have been right, the fact that this thieving person was able to seat on the counter like they were in their own seating room shows that there has been lack of professionalism here. the cashier must be in plain sight of this nonsense as the thief was carefully focusing on him/her. whats next?! i dont know what type of biz they are running, but you certainly should NEVER leave customers unattended in a store/boutique by themselves. if you have to leave then you ask the customer to step out with you, if you are in another part of the store then you keep an eye on the customer. i mean, who are we trying to fool here?! FURTHERMORE, if indeed you need to step away from the cashiers counter, then LOCK the money/valuables, duh!
