| Re: Brand New Car Batteries by Alexgray(op): 2:25pm On Apr 01, 2019 |
sooperrescue:Batteries dnt come with expiry dates but dates of manufacture which is clearly shown on the one uploaded. From the fitting date, the lifespan can be calculated. Maintenance free batteries are expected to last between 12-15 months.some last longer than though it all depends on usage and their exposure to heat and dome other factors Since December of 2018 those that have patronized me have had no complains till date.the 6months warranty is firm and intact.its a product I also use |

Alexgray:Good. Let us know the manufacturing date etched on the front of the battery along with the fitting date labels. From my little knowledge, the current battery fitting date starts from 2018 and not the 0 -9 labels . Why should a battery last for 15 months instead of 6 years as it is seen in the USA? https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://auto.howstuffworks.com/under-the-hood/vehicle-maintenance/often-replace-car-battery.htm&ved=2ahUKEwj7q_Wvh7HhAhXSqHEKHY7HBuUQFjAEegQIDRAI&usg=AOvVaw00dHtxyAQbHVhRchYfENSQ |

sooperrescue:It's more like asking why shock absorbers last more int USA than Nigeria. Why would you prefer to buy a 17 year old US used car instead of a 4 year old bought brand new in nigeria Toyota? You can run carfax history for US used cars but can u do d same for cars bought brand new in nigeria? Can u even run a vin check for innosson or a Peugeot 406 from kaduna? Manufacture dates varies.they all cannot be made same day or same time.they are clear engraved on the products.though the link you provided was not referring to lead or calcium batteries but I think it was about batteries in general.and as culled from the same article "But due to the nature of the chemical cocktail inside any battery, it may give out before the four year mark, or maybe it will last for several more years. So you have to ask yourself, "Do you feel lucky?" If batteries in Nigeria can be subjected to the same conditions in Nigeria as obtainable in the US,they sure would last longer.provided the conditions remain constant." |

sooperrescue:Bro I think u should calm down. Genuine 75ah battery starts at around $200 on Amazon. That is over N70, 000. Some are even over $300. Those are the ones that would easily last u 6 years, but u cannot expect a bettery sold for N18, 000 to last u that much. The average lifespan of most if the batteries we buy here is 12-18 months, some 24 months max. It's just like buying brand new Chinese shocks here when expect and expect it to last 10 yrs which oem shocks fan easily do. |
| Re: Brand New Car Batteries by sooperrescue(m): 11:40am On Apr 02, 2019 |
greenhulk:But most of these batteries on Amazon are made in China and if it will last 4 years, why are we not getting the same? Launch X431 is a Chinese product but the Russian and the US market version is higher than the African market version. It is the same price with other markets. I believe that it is cheaper because it has expired. Let him teach us how to identify the manufacturing date and the fitting date labels so that we can learn. |
| Re: Brand New Car Batteries by Alexgray(op): 12:02pm On Apr 02, 2019 |
sooperrescue:It's funny how you shared an article that you seem not to understand by yourself.to bring in launchx431 into the picture is digression.the internet is there to educate you,its not my job. You can go back to the article, piick out salient points or you can buy the product, use it and share reviews..the choice is yours. If you buy a USA shock that was advertised to Las 10yrs and u shuttle bad roads on a daily basis say Lagos abeokuta expressway from say iyana ipaja to abeokuta, can u claim the manufacturer lied if the shocks fail in 1 year? I'll leave you another extract from the same article u shared."The name brand on the battery doesn't ultimately matter. What does matter is age, cold cranking amps, reserve capacity and group size." |
| Re: Brand New Car Batteries by Nobody: 12:04pm On Apr 02, 2019 |
sooperrescue:Maybe it has expired.. that I do not know. But what I know us u cannot get a 75ah battery on Amazon for $50 and expect it to last u 4-6 years. I think its down to demand. For example. China make products based on what u want. They can make genuine products that would last and can also make cheap products that won't last, it all depends on how much u are willing to pay. If I decide to start importing genuine car batteries and sell them for N60,000 with 2 yrs warranty, do u think people will buy them? I don't think so, majority will still go for the cheaper N18,000 ones. Its just like comparing N15,000 double king tyres with N60,000 Michelin. U don't expect a small business owner to go into selling Michelin or Yokohama tyres here in Nigeria. You cannot go to ur local parts shops to buy original tyres, u need to go to the dealerships or major distributors, its the same with batteries. |

sooperrescue:Of course we know china manufactures based on request .because it sells cheaper does not mean its expires.there are various car accessories in the open market, manufacturers are also many.it doesn't mean the cheapest ones have expired.you shouldn't make such assumptions and the request to be taught how to know something.yes. The cheapeast might not last long as the expensive but it should serve to a reasonable extent.why not educate yourself first before challenging someone on a public forum? It portrays u as someone who argues blindly. |
| Re: Brand New Car Batteries by sooperrescue(m): 4:36pm On Apr 02, 2019 |
Joehigashi:Maybe you are right but the education is for folks like you because you will buy and later blame others for your lack of understanding. When you look at his battery array, he has 150 amps and no 100 amps and he truthfully stated that it will last for maximum 15 months. I know how to decipher the manufacturing date on a battery but he is the seller and he should tell us when the 15 month battery was manufactured and the fitting labels on his battery that he has confidently brought to a social forum to sell. Then arguing folks like me will be swayed to his line of truth. 90 percent of batteries sold in the country have expired and it is made worse by the storage and handling. I have bought Benz batteries for 90k and it can never be the same with the 28k battery. Exide battery is sold here and it is not as cheap as the expired battery. The cold cranking might be the same but all battery is not battery. I have fixed a new battery on a car and the current will be less than 12.50v and in most cases, I will have to jump start the car to take it above 12.50v. Battery is very important to the electronics of a car and either you bring good batteries or you join the league of other importers who don't bother about coming to the social media to sell made in China batteries with Korean technology. |

sooperrescue:To the best of my knowledge,I have seen 40amps,65amps,80 amps,100amps. I wonder what you are insinuating by saying he doesn't have 100amps.is he supposed to advertise what he doesn't have? He didn't state it will last for 15months he responded to your inquiry and made a general statement.maybe u shld go back to read and understand.you are obviously demonstrating pull him down syndrome typical of the average Nigerian.so far op has demonstrated to be a straightforward seller,he didn't give questionable warranty and you clearly stated he was truthful so y are u labelling someone's product expired without facts and proof? You claim 90percent of batteries sold are expired, can you comfortably back up your claim? Do u the data from the bureau of statistics? If you have products for sale, pls advertise and lets see how honest you can be.since I spend my money to buy whatever suits me,why should I come complain to you?when you claimed you bought a new battery and you still had to jumpstart the car,why are u complaining to me? Did I sell the battery to you? Why not return to where you got it? Dubai spec landcruisers are cheaper than united states spec.does that mean Dubai spec landcruisers have expired? If you haven't used a product, dnt condemn until you have facts to support your claims.you cannot make unsubstantiated claims against anyone on social media all because its social media.thank you. |

Joehigashi:Bros, the weather is very hot and so take it easy. I have only asked for two things, the manufacturing date and the fitting labels. If he has the older label that has 0-9 as year, then it is not in tune with the current trend where it is 2018, 2019,etc as fitting date. If you have to use the old fitting labels, how do you choose 2019 from the label? I know where I buy batteries and if they sell substandard, I won't pay. There are some 100 amps battery that are 80 amps but you will see 100 amps written on it. There are some that will use the new labels but the manufacturing date will belie the sticker. I am not pulling him down, he should know what he is selling and if he comes out to talk about it, it has to be good. The people that changed the manufacturing date of tyres do not care about the lives of the people and the profit is all that matters. So also battery and engine oil sellers. When you talk about 150 amps, which car uses it? |
| Re: Brand New Car Batteries by Joehigashi(m): 5:46pm On Apr 02, 2019 |
sooperrescue:If you fixed a new battery and you still had to jumpstart you car I can understand why you are like this but u didn't buy the battery from the op I guess,so I wonder why you didn't return it immediately,if I were u,my refund or replacement is the rightful thing to do.reading through the link shared,it never made mention of batteries having expiry dates.and dnt be deceived, dubious sellers can put any brand name u mentioned on any battery just to make more profit.but careful looking at the third pix,I can see a code starting with"S" and my little research shows that code of this years would start with a letter and I want to believe fitting date should be the day the battery is fitted (my thought though) .my own contribution is,social media should not be used to irresponsibly by making statements which might end up being false.there is nothing wrong asking for more clarifications.i leave you and the op to slug it out though.but remember, because its cheaper does not mean its expired.i leave you and the op to it.so far he seems to be defending his product quite well.cheers |
