The Super Falcons of Nigeria started the third phase of their preparations for the Women's World Cup on a winning note by defeating Icelandic side Selfoss 6-1 in Spain this evening.

Selfloss scored first in the 31st minute, but Uchenna Kanu equalised for Nigeria before half time.

The introduction of Courtney Dike and Ini Umotong added bite to the Falcons attack and a hat-trick by Dike and a brace by Umotong gave victory to the Falcons.


The Falcons continue their preparation in Spain with a friendly match against the Canadian women's national team on Monday.

Meanwhile, Ini Umotong has thanked Nigerians for congratulating her after she bagged a first degree in economics from Southampton University.

Francisca Ordega has not yet arrived in camp, but she sent the players a crazy video to let them know that she is missing them.

Onome Ebi also sent the team a message to wish them goodluck in today's game.
