There's no lecturer in my department that is without a PhD. And the youngest lecturer, who happens to be someone I hold in high esteem, had his B.A in 2007. He bagged his PhD in 2015. Between 2007 and 2015, he went to nysc and had his MSc in between. So it's not that bad. What is in PhD that someone would spend 22 years on?

Another dept I know that has a lecturer without a PhD is due to some reasons which I can't talk about online. He willingly agreed to that though and his promotions will be backdated once his PhD is approved.

The report says he had family issues and he has been living in the university staff quarters even without being a staff for the past two years. But some people are still convinced that his inability to get a PhD killed him.

Not his inability oga, more like d department refusal to give him that, it makes no sense for him to keep doing d same thing for 22 years, Even if he was a perfectionist as the HOD mentioned, d man would not have resigned after enduring for over 2 decades. This is just them trying to cover thier, Nigerian universities can sometimes frustrate d life out of you. Thank God people are now talking, the first time i had people complain about spending more than 10 years for phd i was shock, infact it was a lecturer that complain during lecture, he also talk about the them bring gift jst to get the time of the professors. Anyone who finished from UI would know our university is truly such a shameful system. UI especially is still living on old glory.

They won't even approve project topics except they can publish it and would use students like rags. If one decides to be stubborn, they will ensure one doesn't graduate or get the certificate eventually.

UI is very slow and disorganized. It's a school filled with lazy and mediocre staff including academic and non-academic.

A school where lecturers don't care much about their jobs but papers.

They all will be fine when the curses of students start working in their lives.
