Breaking news!

A tanker laden with premium motor spirit (fuel) some minutes ago lost control and rolled over around the popular Upper-Iweka, Onitsha. Consequently emitting liquid.

The general public is by this notice strongly advised to vacate the scene of the incident. Scooping the "fuel" gushing out of the tanker is very dangerous. It's highly inflammable! It could lead to loss of lives.
Your life and that of other road users, property are seriously in danger because of your actions!

The Honourable Commissioner for Transport, Sir Uchenna Okafor has detailed the officers of ATMA, Fire Service and communicated the FRSC and other relevant agencies concerning the incident. They have mobilised to the scene.

There's no cause for alarm as the situation is under control.

The Nigerian Police and NSCDC have been detailed to arrest any person that nears the scene of the incident.

Be a good citizen, save your life and that of others, do not scoop the "fuel"

Onitsha needs a serious injection of funds to take care of and upgrade critical infrastructure like roads, power, transportation, hospitals and parks. I get angry when i see a city as huge and cosmopolitan as Onitsha being left just for the state and local gov'ts to manage!

Ordinarily, Onitsha should be mentioned in the same breath as Lagos, Abuja and Kaduna that have got much federal funds and attention in one way or the other! Even Port Harcourt should be one of these cities that the federal gov't injects serious funds to upgrade it's infrastructure. If you say 'no way', then restructure the fuc'king country so each region can use their own resources to take care of their own major cities....and also be able to control or have a say in the running of seaports, airports and natural resource exploitation done in their regions!

Restructuring is the only viable option, that's why the hungry looking slave masters won't let it happen. In collaboration with the two faced unity beggars it will be hard to agree on a restructure.

Go to organized country and see the tankers they use in transportation of fuel very small and road Worthy

Here in Nigeria you will see a truck that is meant to Carry 20000liters of fuel carrying 35000 liters of fuel

No standard in Nigeria

Onitsha needs Federal presence and upgrade to a megacity with huge potentials.
Infrastructure is overstretched and even the second Niger bridge has become an four yearly political campaign gimmick embarassed

If it is 35000..... it will be better

but seeing trucks carrying 50000 and 60000

It disturbs me..... Nigeria as a country should find a way and stop trucks from lifting anything above 33000 litres. It will really save us alot.

I was highly impressed by their swift response and professionalism in the containment. I used this spot today going to Asaba from Onitsha. Vehicles were reversing because of the impending danger. To my greatest surprise excitement, when I returned, the incident had been constrained and there was no fire outbreak talk more of casualty.
Peter Obi was right when he said that Anambra is the light of the nation.

By the way, Anymore state government should pay more attention to Onitsha. Especially in the area of road network. It is very critical at this point in time. Let them not wait for federal government any longer.
