Nigerians should prepare to give Buhari the Bouteflika and Al bashil treatment. Any attempt to increase pump price beyond N145 will spell doom. Buhari MUST go! Enough is enough!!! |

tactius:So what did Buhari remove 3 years ago? you are talking like Buhari didn't remove subsidy completely 3 years ago only for him to be paying it behind and denying . |

tactius:better you look for yourself than caring about marketers.... when did they ever cared about you....?? give them power over prices and see how greedy they can be.... before you know, they will not even bother to refine in nigeria no more....more job loose and not more jobs.... una need to understand una mentality.... |

SarkinYarki:OK...here we go. In 2016, we were selling fuel at N87. Landing cost of fuel was N132.. Buhari did a 'partial removal of subsidy' by raising prcies to N145...which ended subsdy payments till THE landing costs jumped up to N150 and kept rising ((now 205)) Subsidy was brought back as underrecovery.....to prevent a price rise revolt. |

Same in Kwara State. It seems the products are coming in now. I queued somewhere for 2 hours yesterday and did not get fuel. On my way home I bought fuel with ease at another filling station. |

MobilityExpress:There is truth in what you said, why is no one talking about fuel importation which is the root cause of the problem..I have this feeling that there is a cult of big personalities comprising of our politicians and business barons running this cartel of importation of fuel.what do you think. |
| Re: Marketers Ration Petrol, Lock Gates Against Motorists In Lagos, Ogun by MobilityExpress: 7:17am On Apr 12, 2019 |
tactius:We have no business importing oil under no circumstances. There is no justifiable reason to allow it except massive corruption that benefits only the elite. Our government ran down all the 5 government refineries in this country, and yet all this while never encouraged or mandated the private oil businesses to build refineries. The money the oil marketers have been running to import oil for decades now, that money could have built many refineries across this country, but no they don't want to be oil refiners, they wanted to be oil importers because that's where the corruption is, that's where they can make huge money and turn to overnight billionaires. That's why you have to respect Dangote so much, he chose to do the right thing, even though he could have easily joined the band wagon of petroleum importers and subsidy receivers milking this country dry with the oil importation business. |

I have said it, the Government will be taking their minimum wage back via fuel increase, VAT increase, subsidy payments isn't longer visible, the government can't continue to dictate to independent marketers, |

tsdarkside:OK...if you were running a business selling shirts, and you bought some at N1500 and wanted to sell at N2000 Government comes in and tells you to sell at N1300 per shirts, pays you N200 per shirt sold as subsidy. You would like that, won't you? |
| Re: Marketers Ration Petrol, Lock Gates Against Motorists In Lagos, Ogun by SarkinYarki: 7:23am On Apr 12, 2019 |
tactius:Stop telling it was partial removal because it wasn't!!!!! Then the govt said it was complete removal so much they didn't budget for it only to deny for years they were not paying and later coining up a fake term called under recovery to try to hide their payment of fuel subsidy while waiting for elections to pass . The Buhari govt is worst govt I have come across in my life I tell you , they are completely visionless and have no plan to improve anything ... When they claimed to have removed subsidy 4 years ago they promised to fix refineries and with time was out of the import based business but till date not a single refinery even touched and no improvement in electricity as I now spend over 7 thousand a day running my home generator because I have less than 7 hours of power |

tactius:What are you saying this man ? stop being shallow ..didnt Buhari claim to have completely removed subsidy 4 years ago? Didn't he promise to fix refineries in 2 years ? Are you aware that Nigeriens you mentioned don't have to depend on petrol generators for 80 percent of their power needs like Nigerians.. |
| Re: Marketers Ration Petrol, Lock Gates Against Motorists In Lagos, Ogun by MobilityExpress: 7:29am On Apr 12, 2019 |
tommyken:Of course there is. The biggest mafia in this country is the oil importation mafia, they are so big and so powerful that they even held the government to ransom for years and dictate its policy. They are so powerful that the government can't confront them. They are the biggest economic problem this country has today. They slowly rose to great power since the time of IBB as military ruler but even then, they were mainly lobbyists, but today, especially since our new democracy with OBJ began, the oil mafia have become so powerful to the extent that they are literally running a shadow government of their own in parallel to the elected government and our people are so enslaved they can't even see the chains anymore. Everything you said is true. We need to wake up in this country. You cannot expect freedom from the same people that enslaved you in the first place. But what do we have, we have majority of Nigerians shouting Atikulate and Febuhari on social media and in the real world. Smh! We are so deep into oppressor worship, we don't even see anything wrong with it. Something is seriously fundamentally wrong with the people of this country. |

MobilityExpress:Don't mind that shallow guy he is part of the problem in this country who wants to keep blaming the masses and absolving the govt ...Where are the refineries Buhari promised ? is he saying Buharis plan is to import fuel for 8 years ? |

tactius:This your analogy doesn't hold water, please. |
| Re: Marketers Ration Petrol, Lock Gates Against Motorists In Lagos, Ogun by Nobody: 7:36am On Apr 12, 2019 |
SarkinYarki:If you understood how subsidy worked...you would have taken all those assertions, when they were made with a pinch of salt. Also, if government is still controlling the price, subsidy is still in force (That's why I didn't beleive them back in 2016 when they said it was gone.). |
| Re: Marketers Ration Petrol, Lock Gates Against Motorists In Lagos, Ogun by Nobody: 7:39am On Apr 12, 2019 |
dfrost:Landing cost is N205. Oil price is $80 while we need it at $140 Nigeria pays a subsidy of N70 at least to keep prices at N145. Due to low oil prices, and our rising debt....money to pay subsidy is falling. Marketers cannot make a profit. because you cannot force someone to sell below the cost price. Hence subsidy goes...or our economy continues to take hits. And if Benin and Niger...whose populations are POORER than Nigeria...can pay higher..so can we. |
| Re: Marketers Ration Petrol, Lock Gates Against Motorists In Lagos, Ogun by Nobody: 7:42am On Apr 12, 2019 |
tactius:You're a zombie forming political activist. Your job is to preempt govt failures and make excuses for them before they do their thing. See how you're comparing Niger and Benin with Nigeria. First, how many people in those two countries have cars secondly, how many use generators to power their homes and businesses there. If you were sincere, you'll fight for govt to take steps to curb smuggling and round-tripping, improve the power situation and get our refineries working. Instead, you're asking govt to push one of its many failures down to the citizens. The subsidy must remain as long as people in govt enjoy the largesse in office but are not ready to live up to their responsibilities!! |
| Re: Marketers Ration Petrol, Lock Gates Against Motorists In Lagos, Ogun by SarkinYarki: 7:43am On Apr 12, 2019 |
tactius:The question is what effort has the Buhari govt made to reduce fuel importation in the country ? Till that is solved the govt cant keep claiming the solution is total removal of subsidy while the real solution lies in fixing and improving our refining capacity |
| Re: Marketers Ration Petrol, Lock Gates Against Motorists In Lagos, Ogun by wristbangle: 7:47am On Apr 12, 2019 |
MobilityExpress:You spoke my mind. In addition, the average oil price for the past 3 months is at $ 65 per barrel which captures data till date. The excuses given today that the landing cost has risen to N205 is no news, after all it has been like this and even higher when fuel price hit $80 per barrel. I keep telling people that we Nigerians are our greatest problem. Everybody is too greedy. Creating artificial scarcity by marketers, FG deceives the masses with subsidy scam and depot authorities diverting fuel to other countries are the major problems hitting the downstream sector. How much will it cost to repair our refinery? This spans to other sectors, take for example, aviation. A country that claims to be African giant yet does not have a single carrier, not even a single plane in operation. Everybody just want to steal, build houses, buy cars, go overseas, and what else again? |

tactius:you dont understand what am talkin about....the problem is not about makin profit, the problem is nigerian way of makin profit....their greed knows no limit.... |
| Re: Marketers Ration Petrol, Lock Gates Against Motorists In Lagos, Ogun by wristbangle: 7:52am On Apr 12, 2019 |
tactius:If subsidy goes, the prices of commodities will keep souring high till nobody will be able to afford food. As if you don't know how greedy Nigerians, especially oil marketers are. Best thing is to repair existing refineries and build new ones. At this, only operational cost will be involved. Issue of shipping cost will disappear as we have it now. |

| Re: Marketers Ration Petrol, Lock Gates Against Motorists In Lagos, Ogun by Nobody: 7:54am On Apr 12, 2019 |
SarkinYarki:The issue is that with oil prices being below what we need it to run a balanced budget, and with the debts we have, I doubt government can build new refineries. The same issue has been there FOR a long time.(or why didn't GEJ build new refineries despite economy being better under him? Answer...he was hoping that his planned subsidy removal of 2012 would allow investment to flow in that would in essence fund new refineries. Sadly all Nigerians saw was price increase, not long term benefits.). That is why the first step is allowing marketers set their prices, instead of government setting prices so that the downstream sector can become a profitable sector which would attract investment needed to increase refining capacity. The truth is , I don't want government building new refineries. Refining fuel is a private business thing...not a government thing. |

Buckubuck:You need to be more polite sire. Plus...I have been supporting subsidy removal since 2011. GEJ convinced me. Not Buhari. Understand? |

you people should stop deceivin yourselfs and say the truth.... nigerians are too fvckin greedy....!! |
| Re: Marketers Ration Petrol, Lock Gates Against Motorists In Lagos, Ogun by Nobody: 7:59am On Apr 12, 2019 |
tsdarkside:They won't do it because under subsidy they would be selling fuel to Nigerians at a loss. They would be refining fuel at a cost of N165 per liter and selling it at N145 ?? Yeah, right! Dangote is taking the risk because government helped him secure loans to build his refinery. I doubt he would agree to sell fuel below production price once his refinery comes on stream... Welcome to business. Profits must be made for reinvestment. |
| Re: Marketers Ration Petrol, Lock Gates Against Motorists In Lagos, Ogun by Nobody: 8:10am On Apr 12, 2019 |
SarkinYarki:Thanks for calling me a shallow guy. As for me, why didn't GEJ build new refineries when he was in power.....BECAUSE...he was wise enough to realize that funding for new refineries was going to come from private investment..hence subsidy removal. But you people opposed it, and see the result. And by the way, I have been supporting subsidy removal since 2011//12. |
