Working in this company is nothing but slavery. I once worked there but didn't spend more than 6 months before I resigned.

Nothing beats American or western investments and companies.

All these Chinese and Indians are just not it.

This isnt the first time .

I pray for a brave minister to put things in place in such hazarduous working environment.

May they find justice here on earth .

As a graduate engineer working there,it was a death that was avoidable ,but where the government is as good as a murderer, you can expect anything good.

thanks OP for bringing this here. it must be noted that this is not the first time this is happening in this same company but as usual they seal it up from the public. a friend who works there told me they refuse them to take photos. the government need to do something about this.

You'd be surprised. I'm sure if you go to very poor parts of China like deep in Sichuan Province, you'd probably be surprised with what you can get away with.

The sweatshops in Nigeria are working in league with officials and labour unions high ups. They simply bribe to get away with murder.

Why I say this is if Nigerians can go to India and be selling drugs, then anything is game.

I remember years ago, my dad told me you have Indians selling drugs here on the streets in Lagos. I was angry abd wondered if we could do the same in their country? The answer many years later is yes.

The question is whether those laws are actually enforced. You know very well they aren’t. Go to Dubai, every foreign owned corporation has a lazy emirati sitting on the team. It’s a legal requirement and they make sure it is enforced. In Dubai’s case Emiratis don’t even pretend to work, they turn up late and do little and still get paid (because they know the law is on their side). Does Dubai work or not? Exactly...

One of my friends recently raised 600 million USD in funding for his tech firm. He is Nigerian through and through, he wouldn’t have received funding if he Wasnt such such an excellent software developer..

Sadly the inferiority complex is strong in this complex. I didn’t know so many Nigerians had lost confidence in themselves... so sad..

I am what I am, I peruse these threads in effort to bring some sanity to it. A forum should have all types on it to bring some sanity to the debate. It takes only a few minutes to post and hopefully my experience can bring some different viewpoints to this discussion.

Having money doesn’t preclude you from enjoying debate on an online forum. So what do you assume a wealthy man does? Simply rolls around in money if he isn’t working. You are the ignorant one not me..

Also some people here think I am some black power guy who can’t back up what he says. I am quite the opposite, show competence and skill first, then assert a position. Because I have bested foreigners in fair competition and got wealthy in the process, I am genuinely not afraid of them.

I could tell you stories how white men have vandalised my cars out of jealously in London. Or men who wanted to fight me because I was dating a hot native girl in Europe or Asia.. It’s hilarious..

It's best to keep financial status out of online forums as no one cares; I sense emptiness in your soul cos I recognize your type who boast ppl vandalize their cars in London etc to provide solace to their souls. You need Jesus Christ the Son of God to provide purpose to your soul.....its a free gift - received by grace thru faith once u confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is the Son of God .... hopefully u can boast less in future having found a higher purpose.

Back to topic, Indians should all be sent packing to where they came from. They ruin Western countries with their toxic culture and they will ruin Nigeria too.

you know every well the answer to the larger question of general Nigerian behaviour is complex. By and large Igbos understand the game and in truth so do a lot Yoruba. The political class is another matter.

But the real problem with the Nigeria in my opinion stems from the North. The problem has two causes, a northern leadership that is out of touch and genuinely doesnt care about its people. It also engages in tribalism which works to the benefit of no one, it has been a problem since Ahmedo Bello (infamous expatriates over Igbos speech). This had led to a weird love of foreign groups that you don’t even see in the south. Go to Kano and you will see a greater proportion of Lebanese running businesses and in truth the locals seem to like it. they have a weird fascination and respect for Arabs that I think is tied to religion. But this ties in to government as these same foreign groups will be given contracts that could easily be done by locals.

Two the population of the North has tipped the balance in Nigeria in the direction of bad choices. The recent elections are the best example, Sowore was my choice, the guy genuinely had good ideas and did his best to bridge the different groups in Nigeria. But the vote was tipped by the North. I don’t blame them out of spite or hatred. They have been let down the most by their leadership. They have been undereducated and thus make ignorant choices. That is why some of their lot sought salvation through religion and thus we had Boko haram.

The problem of lack of education, tied to a failure of meritocracy is slowly down south. Leading to more illogical voting even in the South. I have always said, Nnamdi Kanu correctly identified a lot problems with Nigeria. The problem was that his solution in my opinion was wrong. But many Igbos couldn’t see the nuance because of frustration and again lack of education.

Until the political class changes its ways, this problem will continue. Only they have the power to enforce workers rights and indigenes laws.

My brother I get enraged everytime I speak to a friend in the fishing trade, he tells me that the Chinese undercut everyone on fish prices. Why because they are trawling illegally across the west African coast. In short stealing fish stock worth billions. Nigeria is one of the few African nations with decent naval ships, why isn’t the government doing anything about this and at the same time building a native fishing fleet? again because they don’t care..
