If we legislate and implement adequate safety standards and good working from ALL NIGERIA-BASED EMPLOYERS, the race or purported class (unless you think that only poor Nigerians are employed in Nigeria companies) becomes 100% IRRELEVANT. I am not inclined to “identity” policy (or politics on NL), but when one actually thinks about it is even more disgusting/despicable when we treat our own as subhuman.

Many Brits, Europeans, and Americans (among others) in the UK, the EU and the US similarly believe that they are inherently racially superior to black people. The law is the only thing that stops them from overtly (or overly) mistreating their black employees. We cannot regulate the thoughts of individual human beings but we can surely regulate their ACTIONS!

PS: And just btw, if you do not know that there are Nigerians who think that they (or their ethnic groups) are genetically inherently superior to other Nigerians, then I am afraid that you have NOT been on Nairaland long enough - or just have not been paying attention.

It is for Nigeria to ensure that these relationships work well for Nigeria and Nigerians by legislating and implementing the best possible safety and labor relationship standards - and such standards should exist for EVERY employment relationship in Nigeria, regardless of the nationality of the employer (Nigerian or otherwise). Nigerian employers should NEVER be granted leeway and.or permission to exploit other Nigerians in a manner that we would be appalled (or not allow) if the employer was a foreigner.

What I have said, which you seem unwilling to accept is that a racist Indian would treat his workers very differently to a native Nigerian who simply feels he is better than his subordinates by virtue of class.

A wealthy native boss may mistreat his fellow native workers, by contrast a racist boss of different ethnicity to his workers at the extreme end of the spectrum is likely to KILL THEM!! (This behaviour has been seen in the Americas and the Middle East re migrant workers). That is a huge difference that you fail to understand or refuse to acknowledge..

I have studied the rise of other nations, particularly non white ones. A good proportion developed significantly without democracy Japan, Korea, China and UAE.

The people had no influence on their choice of leaders. Great men stepped up and pulled their populations forward.

In the case of Korea Park Jung-Hee Military Dictator (Period Miracle on the Han)

In the case of China Deng Xiaopeng Dictator (Period Four Modernisations)

You have other examples in the guise of Lee Kuan Yew who pretty much ruled Singapore from independence up to the present taking it from developing to developed in ONE GENERATION (hardly a great example of ever changing party based democracy)

In Nigeria's case since independence not one leader has proven capable of governing the nation and propelling it to first world status. As I have shown you, the will of the people is often IRRELEVANT. What matters is the competence of the leadership at a National Level. Nigeria's leadership has shown to have been lacking..

Say what you like about Igbos, but they were obviously correct in their assessment that post independence Northern leaders who ultimately have come to lead this nation for the majority of its existence since independence were severely lacking in ability and capability to run this nation.

As I said this is not due to some inherent inferiority but due to the cultural norms in the North. Till today Northerners have an atavistic tendency that leans towards their own historical practices over external ideas. This has resulted in them have less progressive and meritocratic values. This failing has impacted not only the North, but Nigeria as a whole...

For example look at the use of Ajami script by the Hausa and Fulani. It is still largely in use for liturgical reasons in Mosques and is still used for Islamic Instruction. While that is admirable, there are many Northerners who are more proficient in that script over the Latin alphabet which is of more economic value. Contrast the maintenance of Ajami script in the North with use Ajami script by Yoruba (which was documented by British Colonials). The Yoruba have abandoned it completely and only a few people like me who have interest in it are even aware of its' existence...

Ahh this is where I will tread carefully as I make this point. But you are a bit naïve and ignorant as to how elites in other nations function.

I had the good fortune of attending the same school as the children of the European political and economic elite (children of prime ministers and heirs to multi billion dollar fortunes). I am not saying this to brag, what is more important are socio economic trajectories we all had after university.

Bar my skin colour I was the same as my white peers and I was often smarter than them. As were some other Naija boys who attended the same school with me.

But interestingly when it came to jobs, the difference in how we were treated was clear. My white peers were employed faster with or without connections. They were given promotions faster and generally were favoured over us Naija heritage boys.

Please bear in mind, we often had stronger CVs than they did

In short Oyinbo favour their own, regardless of legislation etc. I have spoken to others raised in Asia who were white and they said they suffered the same thing at the hands of the Japanese for example.

Like I said and I will repeat at board meetings at top investment banks or hedge funds I have often been the ONLY BLACK FACE THERE. Bear in mind that in London the population is nearly 45 percent non white. I assure you this isn't by accident it is by DESIGN!!

Also the huge sums of remittances from the diaspora is a testament to the tenacity/hardwork of these Nigerians abroad in the face of heavy racism and prejudice they face.

I have lost friends to white racists who stabbed friends simply because they were black, I don't think I have ever heard of Naija folks killing an Oyinbo because he was simply white?? (they may have accidently done it as part of a kidnapping attempt for financial gain) You need to wake up

I could even talk about how right wing political activity is stoked by so called moderate mainstream politicians in the west. You seem a tad naive.. The west makes sure the playing field is far from level and they favour their own!!

I looked at the data, less than 45% of all stabbings involved a black person in London. Even if you take into account overrepresentation it still represents less than 1% of the overall London black population.

Also looking at overall violent crime data since 2011 to 2019, it has been falling steadily. But if you picked up a London newspaper you would think black people have lost their minds and are part of rising violent crime epidemic.

Don't let the media, especially the western one play you..

Even the England Riots which were commonly portrayed as a black riot. The trigger the death of Mark Duggan was actually mixed race man, half white and half black. His mother who campaigned against his death is whiter than snow.

But it gets better, after some detailed analysis it was found that the racial makeup of the rioters was 50% white and 50% black..

The western media play games, you should get wiser to them..
