The Federal Road Safety Corps on Saturday cautioned its officers against chasing erring motorists no matter the traffic offence committed.

The FRSC Corps Public Education Officer, Mr Bisi Kazeem, gave the warning in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

Kazeem, who was reacting to media reports of an accident on Friday, April 12 in Ibadan following a chase by FRSC officers, noted that the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi, frowned at the incident.

Kazeem told NAN that:

“The Corps Marshal, Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, condemned the act as it is our rule that officers should not chase any erring motorist.

“Rather the vehicle number should be taken and the offender will in no time be arrested through our drivers’ licence portal.

“As a paramilitary agency, investigation must be carried out and if the officers are found guilty, they will be dealt with accordingly,”

The day officials of FRSC were pursuing me, I simply deviated and drove towards FCT Police Force Headquarters, when they saw me driving in there, the FRSC guys needed no one to tell them to reverse and turn back. Laf wan kill me that day

I felt like getting down one day and chide one of them to stand off a speeding car ...

I have also challenged one VIO like that who nearly caused accident to Okada man simply because he wanna stop one vehicle like that .... I alighted and was furious ... I was on booth , he think I be soldier ....

Boss you no lie, I watched one live. you go over like 10-15 police car dey on top one suspect, e come be like action film scenery.

Hope they adhere strictly to this warning, else all their vehicles be seized shikenan.
