Oh really?

Against Swansea you didn't care about decisions.

But now VAR should not be deciding a game cheesy

Guy you should quit barka and go to Scotland to begin a career as a full time mascot.

Your New team?

Dundee United

How did I not care about VAR for Swansea? I was arguing that the Aguero goal did not decide the game. It is not like there was an away goals rule or anything. The game was 2-2 before Aguero scored you remember? If VAR cancelled his goal the game would have continued. Thinking is not hard FFS. I made this same argument when RM were given a penalty against Juve in the last second last season.

You are just giving views from a cheap seat.

So we should start counting offside goals? Did the goal stand? In your opinion, should the goal have stood?

The goal did not stand (not because of Raheem). Double negative I know. Should the goal have stood to me? Yes. Or else Son's winner in the first leg should not have stood. But that is me splitting hairs. Tottenham did not even ask for VAR. They were pleasantly surprised to see the goal cancelled.

With no conviction because I did not bet. Betting is now tantamount to conviction. My money was on City and rightly so. You are only gloating based on technicalities.

At least you are admitting to yourself and to us what you are doing.

No doubt it is a cruel way to leave the competition, and I'd be really pissed if I got the other end of the stick. I also admit City played very well, and might have won on another day.

My main, and possibly only grouse with you, which is why all and sundry have been trolling you, is your severe overestimation of Pep's ability to recover from losing an away tie, and your equally grievous underestimation of Spurs and Poch. Even to the extent of saying it'd take angels playing for Spurs for them to qualify.

If you don't have anything sensible to say, you don't need to engage me. I don't know how daft I need to be to not see that the team I said will win and score many goals actually did. That they did not qualify as I predicted is another entirely different issue.

I did not underestimate anything. That tie was not lost because of the away loss. That is the point most of you keep missing. You guys are arguing like City drew 0-0 and crashed out. They scored 4/5 goals. They scored a goal they thought had won them the tie then it was taken away with no time to recover. One team could have won as much as by 7 goals yesterday. The game was never close. One manager out coached the other. That Laporte made mistakes yesterday had nothing to do with Pep or City as a whole. Stuff happens.

I can differentiate between the 2. When you draw on score lines after 2 legs one team qualified and did not "win". If Tottenham were 5-4 for e.g over 2 legs even if they lost 2-0 yesterday, then that is when you are allowed to say they " won". So winning and qualification are 2 different things.

Yes, Poch has lost 5-1 and yesterday (at least to people who watched the game)had every indication that the scoreline could have been worse. Newcastle did not have up to half of the chances City had for e.g. When dust settles, as it would, you can take your time to watch the Newcastle game again and juxtapose it with the one of yesterday.
If u were pep wch among d differentiated comment would u have gone for?..
Finding excuse or still trying 2 downplay d onvious is quite absurd.
Pep was brilliant tactically by resting his key players..
Pep got wat he wanted cos d lone goal was negligible compare 2 wat was going 2 happen at d Etihad. .

You're the same person who asked us not to make any excuses in the event that City went through. Why are you now pointing fingers at extraneous factors?
That's the thing. If you know stuff like this happens, what then informed your superior and even condescending attitude last week??

Pep was expected to win. Check.
Pep was expected to score many goals. Check.
Pep was expected to prevent Tottenham from creating chances. Check.

If his best CB uncharacteristically made 2 mistakes and a handball goal was awarded by VAR that does not concern Pep. At 4-2 City were going through. At 5-3 in the last min, City were going through. VAR then swooped in to decide the game.

I am not making excuses. It is like you are trying to make me make one so you can say "aha". This is not your "aha" moment. If I say City will absolutely demolish Tottenham and they do, but VAR rules it off, how does that detract from what I said?

People who don't like Pep should celebrate. That is fine. But they don't need to be telling me something that is glaring.

You are making excuses. Handball goal is an excuse. VAR is an excuse. There's no aha moment in this. City did not demolish Spurs. It's quite simple.

You're taking this loss worse than I expected.

I know you don't know the meaning of sidelined so how can I trust you to engage me in a discussion worth my time?

Did Poch also plan for VAR to help him qualify? Did he also plan for VAR to allow a handball goal?

If the answer to both questions is no, then in the same way, Pep did not plan for his best CB to make 2 awful mistakes. But that is BTW. After the mistakes, one team scored 5 goals. That is what superior tactics does. That is what Pep did.

Keep forming your opinion. It is like I am disappointing you by not reacting the way you want so you are trying to speak it into reality. I am not making any excuse. Tottenham qualified but it is not without being demolished or conceding enough goals. But technicalities happen which happened yesterday. None of which had to do with Pep which is what I have been saying.

LOL. Anybody can score at any time. But how many can you stake claims on? For e.g, if City were to play Woking United today surely anything freaky can happen that will let Woking score but I cannot be amiss by saying I EXPECT City to absolutely demolish Woking. I am allowed to because one team is superior to the other. City got KOed by Wigan or so in the FA cup. Freakish results happen but that is not analysis. Analysis is that I looked at both teams and felt confident that barring "angels playing" one team will score multiple goals. Angels played..but I digress.

There is nothing else to be read. Unless you're saying your expectations were for City to win and demolish, according to you, and not qualify.
If so, your expectations have been well met.

But if not, it means either Pep didn't meet your expectations, or Pep didn't meet your expectations.

The circumstances in which these occurred are immaterial, because you told us so last week when you plainly said NO EXCUSES.

They created chances. They thought they were home and dry. Then something unrelated to Tottenham happened. You are an optometrist. Surely, even you can see my point.

For me, I firmly placed my faith in the one who is a proven winner. He won. If someone else let him down, that person or technology did. But he didn't let me down. His team was not neutered. They won the game. If they repeat the same result in the EPL they will be champions.

You're making my point for me. When doing analysis, every SINGLE possible parameter is taken into account, and even then, the results are unpredictable, simply because there are some factors that are wildcards. That's why many people give predictions in terms of percentages on a scale of 0-100.

But last week you were so confident that you used the now infamous 'unless angels play' statement, implying that, come what may, City were going through, because of course angels do not play football.

We know City are the better team. They played better yesterday. We know all that. Pep is a good manager. We know that.

All this still doesn't account for your 100% confidence in his team going through. Now that he hasn't qualified, just take it and move on to the league. There is nothing left to justify.
