This is a stupid move as long as am concerned and also having our cities clean and without rowdiness... Most cities are banning keke and bikes yet all the government could think is this?
Re: FG To Introduce Solar-Powered Keke And Motorcycles In 2019 by Cargoed: 6:12pm On Apr 21, 2019
It is not the Job of the FG. It is better they keep quiet so that Entraprenuers can do it. Their job is standardization and Regulation.

Talking of the Technology all you need is a dc motorized Trycycle not one with an Engine. That's all. Fuel stations with Solarpanel and Gas Engines will then charge Keke lithuim batteries thats all. Nationwide.

Give me N1bill per state capital Total Nation wide N35b with FG banning petrol Keke and Generators and we setup the infrastructure for this to happen. The cost is less that the cost of 1shipload of imported PMS.

When is your model coming out? Talk is cheap. One person that I believe so much in is Rotimi Amaech, he helped kick out Mama Piss and her drunk husband, he delivered Kaduna-Abuja railway which the ineffectual buffoon started, he delivered Warri-Itakpe railway which was abandoned for about 35 years, he is few weeks away from delivering Lagos-Ibadan railway. Why wont I trust in then?
Don't mind him, he is talking as if he would kidnap all the existing keke from their owners and starting mounting solar panels and installing batteries for free.

it is even a Herculean task to convince leek riders to buy 80-100k worth of panel and 50-80k worth of battery. When most of them are yet to complete the "hire purchase" payment

The Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi,on Thursday, announced Federal Governments plans to introduce solar-powered tricycles and motorcycles into the Nigerian transport system in 2019.

He disclosed this at the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected executives of Amalgamated Commercial Tricycle & Motorcycle Owners, Repairs and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN) in Abuja.

The minister, who was represented by Dr Anthonia Ekpa, Director, Road Transport and Mass Transit Administration of the Ministry, said the initiative would solve the fuel challenges faced by motorcycles and tricycles riders.

He, however, said that road transport remains the most critical and accessible to all Nigerians, urging the new ACOMORAN president to ensure that his members obey all traffic laws.

I think it's totally anti-developmental to continue using these disgusting tricycles in 2019. They ought to be phased out just the same way bikes have been phased out in many state capitals and Danfo buses are almost a thing of the past in Lagos.
Danfo is almost a thing of the past in Lagos??
