I don't know basic geometry like you so I used algebra and calculus. My working is long and involves differentiation. No vex. . Show your workings sir.

The radius of an inscribed circle is the area divided by the semi perimeter
Radius of small circle =(0.5×4x3)/(0.5×12)
Radius of smaller circle=1/1=1
Radius of big circle = (0.5×8×3)/(0.5×18)=12/9=4/3
Base of shaded triangle =8-2small radius=8-2=6unit
Height =3-1 smal radius-1 big radius
H=3-1-4/3=2/3unit
Area of shaded =0.5×6×2/3=2unit^2
