WhatsApp’s ‘dark mode’ update is finally coming to Android phones

The mode will switch your theme from the default light mode to a black theme that, it’s claimed, will put less strain on your eyes and save battery life.
Although the option for a dark mode has been previously spotted in the beta version of the WhatsApp iOS app, it’s now been seen in the Android equivalent.
That means if you use a phone made by the likes of Samsung, Huawei or OnePlus, you’ll have the option of swapping to dark mode.
First spotted by WABetaInfo, the colour inversion looks the same on Android as it does on iOS:


As it’s spotted in the beta version, we don’t know exactly how long it will take to the full consumer version of the app. It could be within the next few months, so make sure you keep the app updated at all times to ensure you get the feature when it does roll out.
Facebook Messenger has already implemented its own dark mode, which can be accessed whether you use an Android or iOS phone.

Go and compare the two apps. The fact that whatsapp is more popular in Africa doesnt mean it's the best. Telegram is more advanced. The new features that whatsapp is launching, telegram has been having it long time immemorial. Who do you like this ?

Some of us prefer the maturity and simplicity of WhatsApp.
I've [re]downloaded and deleted Telegram quite a few times.

Actually, not SOME but MOST. And in measuring business success, that is what matters. No matter how feature-packed a product is, if the consumers don't like or appreciate it, it's a failure. Whatsapp ticks all the boxes for most users worldwide (not just Africa) and hence better than Telegram
