YoungAncient1:You are not totally correct..... The state has only one Federal Higher Institution and is the only state in Southern Nigeria with such.... Just like TheAngry1 had stated,Aba is peculiar and something like Leather Technology could be introduced....if we can have horology in Yaba, why not shoe-lacing or something that fits into its immediate environment. It's a welcome idea Sir. |

aribisala0:The state doesn't need another Federal University...it already has. According to info gathered, the State Poly @ Brass is to be converted to a Fed Poly on a temporary basis. Your last paragraph is apt but its a general Nigeria problem bro. We all are hopeful that the peculiarity of the environment will affect their mindset especially now that it is at the point of deliberation. |

fergie001:Hope is not a plan. When an Okada rider has 7 children and is "hopeful" that God will provide that is irresponsible and the outcome is predictable Government in Nigeria cannot manage education . They fail to do the basic which is provide curricula that are relevant. You cannot have education without a strategy to produce teachers Education should be a means to solving a society's problems not passing exams. We cannot with all our engineers industrialize garri production in the 21st century. We cannot preserve the tonnes of vegetables that waste in our farms and we cannot produce food for animals so that Fulani herdsmen stop terrorizing us. We still pound food with mortars and grind with stones We cannot make decent furniture. That is what we should teach in our schools We need less not more polytechnics but of course the counter will be why bring this up when it is the turn of Aba. My point is government may provide money but should let it be a PPP . The current model where government OWNS and runs universities and polytechnics is outdated. Too many people are admitted to government universities and the degrees are devalued. Again in Nigeria because of our mentality I do not think we need ANY polytechnic. They should all be upgraded to Universities |

aribisala0:This same blueprint has been forwarded times over but for reasons that is not alien to our society, they aren't been implemented. We are planning on it Sir......don't ask me how ....I am not in Government Sir; but we are optimistic. Here what we say and what we do are two different things ... |

fergie001:Haha Today Ngige said we have surplus doctors I guess we have surplus lecturers who are just waiting for this bill to pass so the can start work ![]() The truth is the best educated countries rule the world. The best educated are those who produce stuff or have skills that people want to buy We cannot even produce our oil by ourselves Chinese are building our rails and we were not even smart enough to include skill transfer clauses in the contract so who shall maintain them in future Who maintains our National Assembly Shell, Total, AGIP are from countries that have no oil of their own |
