OPEC has ordered that Nigeria should reduce their barrel-per-day (bpd) production from 6,000 to nothing more than 2,500. This is in the bid to drastically reduce gas flaring and save the environment. The world is turning to alternative energy solutions that don't need petrol.

If Dangote had envisaged this about 4 years ago before he started the refinery project, I am sure he would have halted it!

Just like he recently sold his flour mills, I know he will sell the refinery to the highest bidder with an underpriced amount in the nearest future.

And talking about safeguarding his investments, I am sure the oil wells that caught fire in Ondo were well safeguarded right?

Very sensible post

Truth is if Dangote where to be in a civil society he won't amass this type of wealth...his wealth is gotten by fg chaining his competition and allowing him freedom.

With his type of money if he looked into green energy, he would only make more money in years to come and would have greatly propelled Nigeria... but as competition node he won't think on his feet

ONDO STATE especially the Ilaje community, the ijaw community etc should take advantage of the crude oil to develop their area before crude oil become a nonentity in Nigeria.

It was originally Edo until the Yoruba man at ordinance deptvceded it to Ondo.
No sir, it's originally Yoruba until the mighity Benin warrior came, defeated and imposed their cultures on them. That is why almost all Yoruba costal communities had something in common with the Benin. The Ilajes once fell understand Benin empire and that contributed to how their settlements (later communities) were named.

Nigeria must reduce its production .... while the US is increasing its exploration and production. Why? Which oil producing country does not refine its oil? Nigeria would be using petrol long after the developed world has moved to alternative energy.

You shouldn't bother responding to fools like those online. The Benin kingdom was quite expansionist in character, until political infighting led to civil war within the capital and they lost most of their territories. The aborigines of that particular area were Ijaw, Ilaje.and Yoruba people who fell under the superior military influence and predatory administration of Great Benin, which at the height of its era extended as far as Lagos in the west and the Ekiti heartlands in the north.

Lies. Nigeria's oil output stands at about 2million bpd. OPEC does not order. You don't know anything about OPEC. Stop lying

Dangote would have a lot of problems sourcing over 500k barrels of crude oil everyday for his refinery to process

Go and check your record Sir, Ondo state is a founding member of NDDC simply because of enormous amount of crude deposited and explored in just one or two (Ilaje/Ese-Odo) LGs of the state. It is just that people there do not make noise about it like every other parts of NDDC states. Crude oil was first discovered in Nigeria ever in a community called Araromi in Ilaje LG of Ondo state before world war (1911 or so). Oil exploration has been going on in those areas as far back as it started in Nigeria. I grew up seeing oil rings across the off-shore in Ilaje LG of Ondo state which has the longest coastal line in the country.
