Dear Musa Usman,

In your bid to be the hero of your community who care less about your existence all through your 25yrs of being a "Mai Guard," you blew a golden opportunity for you to become a Landlord of your own and make your family comfortable... Some of your community people will only sing your praise for a short while but your family will keep on regretting your "heroic decision"

Take note Musa, nor be everybody for your community go happy with this your decision as you've temporarily made some "Mai Ruwà" (Water seller's) jobless and make the government more lazy.

Enjoy your water and your "thatch house."

Where can I unlike this trash

I quite disagree with your opinion. For that man, his community comes first and that's selflessness.. very rare and distint character obviously

I understand where you are coming from, but will his family "revered" him for taking that decision after squatting in a thatch house for over 3 decades?

If he happens to be your husband, will you be happy with that decision he took?

Pls speak for yourself..

apart From hausa politicians, Hausa people don't run after wealths like we yoruba and igbo. If a Hausa man has a job, a small place to live, he is okay with his family. But we other tribes run after everything forgetting some people don't have half of what we have archived.

him giving thousands of people water in his village is enough for him to receive blessings and end up in paradise (if God wishes). He isn't stupid. Everything we have in life will finish and only our good deeds will be left for God to judge. House will become weak and collapsed one day but the thousands of people drinking water there will pray for him. He is human oriented and not materialistic.

Very correct, but it would have made more sense if he had accepted the offer and erect 2 gigantic GEEPEE tanks that would serve him and his community.

In the north, not everyone is that materialistic. Altruism and Selflessness bar the other negatives you read daily online are the word of the day there.

Who will maintain the borehole, they will always need to power a generator to pump water.
If they had build him a house, they will definitely put a borehole in the house then he can connect a pipe outside that his people can regularly fetch water.

Last last lack of maintenance will finish the community borehole project but if it were to be in his house and he allows people fetch water from outside his compound, it would be easier for him to maintain.

who told you he was going to build him a luxury house with such facility in place, remember it's an indian oga. He may have even exceeded his budget with this other option. Hope you know the cost of building this kind of thing in the North especially core desert areas may far exceed the normal cost of erecting a simple structure there, what with cheap labour all over the place and plenty sand, now compare that with the level of technology required to put this kind of gigantic metal tank up there, the tank alone may run in millions of naira. Even if water is part of the bargain it will just be rubber gp tank or its equivalent and how can that take care of a whole community under acute water shortage and water crisis beyond acceptable level. I think if they are serious and understand the importance of what has been done for them, the community head will raise a special task force to oversee its distribution and collect a token for regular maintenance, this shouldn't be an issue as I suppose.

The real pain will be if that borehole breaks down in a few years, as I can see it's electrified. If that happens, the man would have lost both the house and the bore hole.
I commend him though. He is a selfless Nigerian. Moreover, I am sure he considered that there's no point living in a well-built house while they still have to trek several kilometres to fetch probably unclean water daily.

You will be surprised, someone else will build him the house. This is the mentality that has kept Nigeria backward because of selfishness. If you don't touch lives, you have not lived a good life in this world.
