Seriously, brother, I feel sad and pity that you went through all that for your vision yet wasn't allowed to complete it now. This is the bad side of our nation, hence your doubts.

I must confess, I've not heard a story like this until now. And to even think you'll be invited to Abuja(if you don't reside there) gives me course to question the authenticity of the form and all that. I only believed that hence your name appeared on the manual list, which supposedly has your picture therein, you're be made to fill the form and captured for further checks. However, it's sad the system isn't that way.

Again, I think, asides other things I ain't aware of, that the only way such an issue could pop up is irregularities upon registration. I want to believe that when you thumbprinted, you confirmed on the screen that it was successful. The cybercafe attendant could make mistakes.

Nevertheless, the only way to this, in my opinion, is either you wait on, preserving your phone number and E-mail too(cos your Reg No. was collected)

Or, you step out to their zonal offices within your reach to tender another complaint, making sure you see the coordinator or top officers that may have valid answer or opinion to this trouble. The hardest is to visit the headquarters in Abuja, especially if you have a literate older person that can accompany you. However, I believe you were given a means of recognition, like something to present to that effect. Or, that it's indicated in the manual list that you attended but couldn't write owing to technical hitches.

You see, this is what makes here Nigeria. I pray you receive justice.

I was almost caught in a problem like this but God helped me.

Sad i must say and even more painful cause there's no means of follow up.
Let's just hope something is done. Even the result is not out yet.

My vision can't be stopped! If there's one thing I like about myself is the fact that I'm unflinching in my decision(s). I've not seen or heard any like this either, so this incident is befuddling. I also thought that since my biometric failed, I would be manually reviewed since every other thing matched perfectly. I even wore the same shirt I wore during my registration to the exam centre along with my examination slip which clearly showed 'twas me but the officials didn't let me in. I don't live in Abuja. The the transport fare from my area to ABJ is around 3 to 4k. This is even the least of my worries.
Again, I think, asides other things I ain't aware of, that the only way such an issue could pop up is irregularities upon registration. I want to believe that when you thumbprinted, you confirmed on the screen that it was successful. The cybercafe attendant could make mistakes.
Sincerely speaking, the dude that registered me at the centre couldn't capture my left little finger. My fingers and prints were/are in perfect condition, when I asked him if it won't affect me he said yes; that my other nine finger prints were enough. Now I know he lied. I've been lookin' for him but it seems he's not around. My mail and phone number are very ''active''. Concerning the issue of keeping tabs with the JAMB official, I did try to get his mobile number, but he politely turned me down. A slim Muslim man. He was quite understanding. As to going to their zonal offices, It has never crossed my mind, but I'll put MORE effort into reaching them. Thanks. All in all I hope JAMB considers those candidates that couldn't write due to no fault of theirs.

'twas really painful, and still is. Outside, people see me walking and smiling, but inside; broken. I haven't lost hope though. I believe JAMB would do something 'bout this.

I registered for this year's UTME (JAMB) through an approved CBT Centre. I was among those that were slated to write on the first day. On the day of my examination, we were allowed into the lobby where we would first thumbprint before entering the exam hall. When it was my turn to thumbprint, my data didn't come out. I was told to join a second line of about eight or nine others with similar problem. I was the last person in this second line. Those in the first line thumbprinted and went in. Those of us in the second line were now asked to come and thumbprint again, switching from their right thumb to their index, to their middle, ring and to their little finger. If their right hand didn't work then the left was used. Most times before they could get to their middle finger, their data would come up. They all succeeded! It was now my turn. I started with the fingers on my right hand, nothing came up; switched to my left still nothing. They gave me water to wash my hands with and towel to clean it dry. I did, went to try again but still nothing. I was drawing attention and I felt bad - pitied. I kept trying. The lady that was even guiding my fingers became tired. She changed to another fingerprint sensor, and this time I was given methylated spirit to apply on my fingers; which I still did; thumbprinted again yet nothing. My data didn't come up! I was questioned concerning my registration if I actually thumbprinted MY SELF, I said yes I did. Even though the question sounded ridiculous I wasn't bothered by it. Exam started and I was still outside, broken, flustered and almost in tears. I kept on trying, and trying, and trying and ... No data. The lady asked for my name and then checked her system (the notebook she was using) for the names of those who were yet to sign in. They were five of them. I was among them. So it meant my name was in the database but my finger print was not being recognised. It was sad. Out of 200 candidates that were to sit for that session, 196 came, 195 thumbprinted successfully, I was the only one present who didn't write! Four were absent. A JAMB official came up to me and spoke to me saying there is nothing they can do about it, that JAMB had given a directive that the only way one can be allowed into the exam hall is if they thumbprint and their data comes up. He showed me a form which he said was from JAMB regarding to issues peculiar to what I just experienced and told me I'll have to fill it later. He came back with a photocopy of the form, and I filled it: name, reg. and exam number, address, time of exam, centre registered, reason for not being able to write and so on. He told me once the exam is concluded all over the country, forms from other parts of the country would be submitted to JAMB and our cases would be considered, and we may be contacted by phone through SMS of the re-scheduled the date. He said the re-scheduled one would be held in Abuja. My questions now are: 1. What if the JAMB official fails to submit my form to JAMB at the appropriate time how will I know? 2. Are they others like me out there with the same or similar issue that couldn't write their exams due to no fault of theirs? 3. What if JAMB sends the SMS but I couldn't get it how do I get to know of the date (JAMB hardly/never sends one SMS or even mails, they ask for your email and phone number but then it's only important during registration). Would any Nairalander(s) be generous enough to let me and maybe others know if they get wind of a new date? I would be very grateful. Cc: Richiez, Chukwukapromise, Olawalebabs, Fynestboi, Benjax and the whole Nairaland community.
You don't have to lose hope. I believe Jamb will still reset another exam for those affected. Remember all things worketh together for good to those who love God. Just see it as an advantage for you to prepare more for the exam.
