Nigerian soldiers were seen displaying their missile truck on the war field. Gistvic Report.

Two missiles were seen coming out of the truck as the soldiers shouted.

That's a Russian S-300 surface-to-air missile defense system.

Old but very effective as displayed in the recent Syria War. Not only is it very accurate, it is also mobile which makes it very hard to destroy.
The recent model is the S-400 & I hear the S-500 will be combat ready soon.
Israeli, Turkish & US planes can attest to the efficiency of this AK-47 of the missile defense industry.


BUT my question is;

Boko Haram has no fighter or bomber jets we know of. Their attacks are 100% land based.
So what exactly is the purpose of this S-300?
