Imo is a state located in the south east part of Nigeria with its capital city as Owerri. Imo state was created on February 3rd, 1976 out of the former East Central state during General Murtala Mohammed era. It is named after the Imo River which flows from the uplands of the state around Okigwe into the Atlantic ocean.

The state is bound by Anambra State to the North, Rivers State to the South, Akwa Ibom State to the East and to the West by Delta State. It lies within latitudes 4°45€²N and 7°15€²N, and longitude 6°50²E and 7°25€²E.

It is nicknamed "€œthe eastern heartland"

Imo state is part of Igboland and the original inhabitants are lgbos, a culturally homogeneous group. lgbo is the language spoken throughout the state with different dialects spoken in different parts.

Some other major towns in Imo state are Okigwe, Oguta, Orlu, Mbaise, Uzoagba and Emekuku. The state is rich in crude oil, natural gas and fertile, arable agricultural land.

Bros it's you that don't know Boundary of IMO state. Delta has boundaries with IMO through ugwuta and kwale and navigating through the orashi river. Even Andoni in rivers State through kwale ,Abi and Ugwuta. Please verify info before disparaging once very good remark. I have said my own.

My brother thank you. Because me I don dy wonder o. Coming from akwaibom to lagos I see imo and Delta now they say delta is at the other side. I'm now wondering if those drivers just like turning around

Its accurate, I stayed in imo for years and the price keeps increasing courtesy of Yahoo boys and political appointees.

Imo state doesn't have any common boundary with Akwa Ibom state. Imo state only has a common boundary with Abia State. Also, Imo state has no boundary with Delta state.

IMO has a common boundary with Anambra, there is that possibility of a common boundary with Delta through Ugwuta, if you understand that terrain. I never knew that my LGA in Anambra has a common boundary with River state both through Land and sea until recently. Thank you @poster

Irete is costlier than World Bank ke? U don't know anything aswearugad. World Bank is very expensive, a 2 bedroom flat cost about 300-400k in world bank. Amakohia, Orji are they cheapest place in town to live. Ikenegbu is not that expensive as most houses there are a lil old.
