Some staggering sums of money are being paid out to footballers. And the figures are only getting bigger.

Football clubs are being forced to offer contracts promising eye-watering sums of money in order to keep hold of their best players, this creates a chain reaction that naturally sees the progressive increase of players’ wages.

L’Equipe, a French publication has released its annual report of football’s highest salaries, with the top 10 highest earners playing in either the Premier League, Serie A, La Liga or Ligue 1.

Lol. All of you shouting it's deep, you have some things to learn. Understand how the world works. It's all of a game of numbers. The more people that recognise you, the more money you have. Full stop. Get 1 million Nigerians to give you 1k each, that's a billion naira. There are footballers all over the world making less than a government worker in Nigeria. There are less than 500 footballers making insane money in the world. Compared to programmers, oil workers, large scale manufacturers, hedge fund managers, fintech guys, etc, footballers are poor. For instance, bill Gates makes $20m every day. That's Ronaldo's five months salary.
Besides, everyone can't be rich. If everyone was rich, this world will have problem.
