Man Remanded In Prison For Taking Pictures Of Policemen On Duty In Lagos by chimjoshjuan(op): 3:59am On May 08, 2019
A man identified as Adebayo Gbenga, has been remanded in prison custody for taking pictures of policemen on duty in Ogba area of Lagos. The 28-year-old man who shared the photos he took on Facebook, was charged with action likely to cause a breakdown of law and order. It was further alleged that he made a false publication on Facebook about Inspector Dele Ogunsanlu and some other officers attached to the Area G Police Command in Ogba, who were said to be on lawful duty at Ogba.

The act which got the police officers angry, led to him being traced to his house where he was arrested. Police prosecutor, Inspector Innocent Odugbo, who told the court that the pictures in question portrayed the officers in bad light and dented their image and that of the police, added that the officers maintained that the contents of the posting on facebook were lies and did not happen, which made them go after Gbenga and arrest him. However Adebayo Gbenga who pleaded no guilty to the charges, was granted bail in the sum of N100,000, with one surety in like sum. While the case was adjourned till May 27, 2019, the man who took pictures of the policemen on duty was remanded in prison custody till he perfected his bail conditions.

Everything is a crime in Nigeria now! If we can't show pictorial evidence of police brutality and misconduct, how then do we check their excesses?
