She could appropriately fit into that league, if you have read her works and gone through her profile, you would agree without doubt that she can be counted among the best Nigeria has ever produced.

I wouldn't have made that assertion if I hadn't read any of her books and in fact, I've read 3 of her books.

She writes for the mainstream, and she's receiving this much attention because she promotes their agenda, nothing really special about her works.

Unfortunately, after their set including jp Clark, ben okri, Amos tutuola, Cyprian ekwensu, and so many other, our generation have no brilliant writers to produce. Majorly because of our now useless educational system and eroding reading culture.

education is gradually fading away. Even the ones who went to good schools were they pay huge amount of money for tuition, still have nothing to offer. After Chimamanda Adechie, and some few who are making us proud, who can we look to as the next icons of greatness in this field ?

she's not boring at all.

Her half of a yellow sun is an emotional roller coaster.

Purple hibiscus was also a great read.

And the picture was in 1988??. So after the accident in 1987 that he got paralyzed, he was still walking in 1988 as could be seen in the picture. What I read about his life was that the accident happened in 1991 on his way to his home town of Ogidi in Anambra State.

Those were the days when people read books, with diligence and hard work. and not this fast food kind of century where people want to get rich without doing nothing. I remembered my elder brother wistling while solving his further mathematics, and even looking for more problems to solve, and even students burning the midnight candle just to become top of the class. Now we only have very few people who take their academic work seriously, is either some are slaying or about to be slayed, or somewhere dancing some unusual music were you'll have to spin your head in the name of dancing, they'd rather spend their time talking about useless things, Tonto dike wahala or uploading pictures everywhere. education is gradually fading away. Even the ones who went to good schools were they pay huge amount of money for tuition, still have nothing to offer. Not true, sir. The great man died somewhere in Ogun state on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on his way to Lagos to catch a plane overseas. I read about it in the newspapers then. Kindly check the story again and revert. I wasn't a toddler at the time!

The amount of African proverb in that book makes Things fall apart look western

My sentiment when I read it too.
Arrow of God easily displaced my African Bible, Things Fall Apart.

So by your logic we should all join the bandwagon?. A wrong thing remains a wrong thing regardless of how many people are doing it. You should be the one explaining what you're talking about.

You may be correct as I was a teen then. To make this assertion confidently, I don't have any cause to doubt you. May be the article I read it before may not be actually correct. Just to correct your post, he did not die in the accident. He suffered a serious spinal cord injury that resulted in him been unable to work again. I think he died in the early 2000 during the Obasanjo time.

Thank you.

I Am Not In Anyways Clamouring That We Should All Join The Bandwagon. But What Am Trying To Let You Know Is That The Current Educational System Is Unfavourable, and Does Not In Anyway Motivate The Youths Of Today To Dissipate Much Energy, time And Resources To Education Like Our Earstwhile Counterparts.

Thanks, he certainly didn't die in the accident - that's a slip. But HE DIED IN IN 1987: I'm SURE of this. So it wasn't during Obasanjo presidency. Know why I'm so sure? It was in the same year that Awolowo died.
