The First group of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members being officially discharged after completion of their service year in June 1974. General Yakubu Gowon, the then Nigerian Head of State was present to oversee, discharge and wish the Corp members well.

Actually, Nigeria's problems started when our leaders decided we should run a 'welfare' government based on revenues from selling raw materials...whose prices we did not control.

Things went downhill from there.

PDP?? Symptom, rather than the cause. Same for APC.

Democratic governments are responsible for creating great legacies for the given citizens world over.

Interesting that majority of our legacies in Nigeria were created by military governments.

And we are told that the worst democracy is better than the best military government.

This means we are yet to have a Democratic government.

Alright...scrap NYSC.

I know that many rural areas in the South East would lack teachers as a result. Same for specialities like doctors.

(Same for other areas in this country).

I served in the South East, and am from the South South. Most of the coprers in my set were Southerners or Middle Belters.

When everything about the scheme was still original. From the cap, clothing and even boot. Also to the quality of Corp members. Not the yahoo and slay corpers of today.
